Crem, I see your Korres (which sounds lovely) "covers up impurities" - slap it chinwards Smile

Right, I must not reappear on here or anywhere else on the internet for several hours. Adios.

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2017 12:59

WAF, why don't you just go in and score another free sample? It was ages ago and I bet they won't remember you Grin
And go for the job - it sounds like you'd be great.

Must see what Love and Friendship is though I doubt I'd get DH/DS to watch it! I am now finally on season 2 of Gilmour Girls because I can only watch when they are out/not in the sitting room!

Cremolafoam · 24/04/2017 13:42

Listening to R4 about Marine. With tittle tattle from Blair. Fuelling my anxieties so switching off.

Chazzer S&B roll returns - just went back to pick up a couple of things I hoped were still there: gap fine cotton cardi in pinky-red, fiver from BHF and a topshop denim jacket, bit too small and with a bit of stretch - both good things imo - down to a quid in Age UK.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 24/04/2017 16:24

WAF / Auriga
Really enjoyed L and F - it wasn't the fake tan but the dazzling white teeth that I found a major distraction! They should have painted them yellow for period authenticity...

Rosebag · 24/04/2017 17:08

Hello Crepeys...blearily catching up with y'all.WAF what a horrible, horrible 'scoping experience...I hope you've recovered from the trauma and yes, go for the job. You are the asset that they are about to get....remember that. Star

Auriga I love Daisy pulls it off....it must be amazing for DD having the title roll. I'm so sorry you're still feeling so rough. Flowers

Is it you having the cataract removed, Crem? I forget. Good luck. DM said it was a breeze.

I have crawled out of one of my 3 day headaches. I know it was tension and all to do with dilemmas over teaching classes which have now been solved by DH trawling through the emails that I was procrastinating over and telling it Like It Is. He does have his uses when I get into a tizzy and start avoiding the issue Anyway result is 2 new workshops to teach, one in London and one in Kent. And the headache has magically evaporated. Confused.

Fantastic night last night with so much laughter and so many tears. Tribute night to the band's drummer who died not long ago....early 40s. I am feeling so emotional about it still. Keep filling up. The music was fab...just wonderful. DS2 was so gutted to have missed it...he was very fond of the guy, but his exams started this morning and he couldn't risk not getting back to Brum in time, or being too tired to focus. The best night out for me in a long time.

herbaceous · 24/04/2017 17:27

WAF - go for the job. You are so obviously perfect for it, that you've even thought about the future afterwards. On a CC tip, I'm a fan of No7s CC cream in 'fair'. Just the right amount of coverage, makes me look less haggard, and it's a third of the price of the Clinique one. I recommended it to Stropps, I believe, and she is a convert. Or was...

Rose - I too have just exited a headache, which maybe was tension too.

In S&B news I am wearing my Sainsbury's pinafore dress, and it's rather marvellous. Though snug on the hips. For now, until I lose my stone on the 5:2 . It seems that it fits right in with the teacher uniform at new school - shortish dress, maybe something stripey, possibly a cardigan, thick tights, loafers or ankle boots.

However, I will have to have tomorrow off. DS was sick a couple of times this morning, and while I was greatly afeared of The Vomiting Bug that's been doing the rounds, he's been fine all day since. Eaten lunch, malt loaf, etc. DP stayed at home with him. However, his school has decreed that he must not return tomorrow, so I've got to 'have it off'.

bigTillyMint · 24/04/2017 17:43

Herbs, that's the one I use mainly - I also have the Clinique CC cream which is good, but obviously more £££!

motherinferior · 24/04/2017 18:11

Having it off in your first full week, Herbs? I'm impressed. Wink

hattymattie · 24/04/2017 18:43

I have the Clinique CC cream in medium - I found the medium fair was a bit to yellow. I find it quite heavy though - maybe it's been reformulated. I usually use Boots Protect and Perfect - they did their text thingy and I have to say the match is pretty good. WAF - wait for Clinique bonus time when you get lots of little goodies with your purchase. Definitely go for the job.

Rose - glad your headache's better and that it was a great night last night.

Herbs - that is exactly what the Brit teachers wear here - it must be a thing. In summer they all wear black footless tights with their summer dresses. I actually commented on it last summer so similar was their attire.

MrsWobble3 · 24/04/2017 19:10

Crepeys, no time to read - will catch up later but wanted to share the exciting news of my attendance at a book launch. Armed with the knowledge from this thread I asked the author how long it had taken to write the book and how many rewrites. He told me it had taken 6 years to think and plan, 2 years to write and 2 years to get published. And innumerable rewrites, some of which were very drastic. I don't know how long yours has taken so far MI, but please don't give up - I enjoyed the launch party and would very much like to go to another.

wordassociationfootball · 24/04/2017 20:07

Excellent that you posted the novelist's stats Mrs Wobble. Very useful and... corroborative.

Collymollypuff · 24/04/2017 21:33

I am up for everyone's launch parties. And you are all invited to mine.

Auriga · 24/04/2017 21:39

Sounds like a good cathartic night, Rose.

My main distractions in Love & Friendship weren't tan or teeth, but frocks. Could watch again just for those. Also puzzled over whether the music choices carried hidden jokes. In the end, I concluded that they didn't. I think music was chosen for the noise it made, regardless of the meaning, which led to some odd effects.

More brain foggery from me tonight. Dragged my decaying carcass in to central London for a choir rehearsal, to find nobody else there. I was not one week early but two Blush

So I bought this on the way home.

BeachysSandyFlipflops · 24/04/2017 22:05

Like that dress, Auriga....

motherinferior · 24/04/2017 22:37

Ooh, thank you, MrsW! Rollin' the boulder...

Isn't it Love and Freindship? Smile

Cremolafoam · 24/04/2017 22:47

Tres tres chic Auriga. Sorry about the rehearsal fail.
I turned up at Pilates tonight wondering whether it was on at all, freaked out that there was no one there for 10 minutes, only to discover they had moved us to another room.

Have not bought the Korres cc in the end as felt as if £20 was silly money to spend online without testing. Hmm
Cataract-athon tomorrow. Hooray.👀

Collymollypuff · 24/04/2017 22:48

Very lovely, Auriga. You'll look amazing in that. Smile

Lalsy · 24/04/2017 23:11

Best of luck, Crem. Be good to get it out of the way?

Auriga, that is a gorgeous dress - will really suit you.

MI, roll away. I haven't been to enough launches....Grin

WAF, sounds like you know the answer.....that is brilliant about beinge excited.

Reasons to be cheerful:

  1. I made pastry tonight after a lifetime of avoidance and it sort of worked
  2. ds goes back to school tomorrow which means I get the sofa and internet back
  3. I went to a gym class today which was in the place and at the time I expected it to be Grin
Collymollypuff · 24/04/2017 23:12

Pastry! Did you make sure your hands were cold? (Is that still a thing?)

IDismyname · 24/04/2017 23:30

I turned up to my dance class this morning. Parked the car. Scrabbled around to find parking money, and went to get out of the car.
Something suddenly felt just WRONG....
Looked down to see my slippers on my feet.

I had just enough time to race home, grab my trainers, and get back to the class, having missed the first song which I'm so bored of, anyway.

At the end of the class, a girl came up to me who I don't know very well. She's about 20 years younger than me. Fit as a fiddle, so supple and damn pretty. I fight the irresistible urge to dislike her for all the above.

And she told me how slim I'm looking these days.
I nearly hugged her.

Collymollypuff · 25/04/2017 00:53

Aw, Cloud... Grin

addle · 25/04/2017 06:21

How v lovely Cloud

Great dress Auriga, v chic

Crem - DH and I in Vigo for a few days, no car, and going over to ?San Simon one day for a music festival so nice areas to stay and/or nice hotels. I've got your other suggestions for N Spain somewhere so will dig those out because the Cies islands sounded wonderful but if there was easy to get countryside also good. (i've bought the festival tickets so we're pretty committed). May consider flying into Porto, spending day there then going to Vigo but that's perhaps a waste of both places given short time?

Anyone able to advise for blowdrying for dummies? Hair is still nice but just not the same but I've never been able to blow dry. I've bought a cylindrical hair brush and willing to give it a go. (It'll be epilators next).

bigTillyMint · 25/04/2017 07:00

Dress is lovely Auriga.

Cloud, how fab! Envy

Glad to hear of crepey confusion - it's not just me!

Good luck Cremo - DM had it done and found it all fine, despite being much more aged than you.

Addle, I am no expert, but you need to section your hair (right bloody faff with my super-thick hairAngry) and use the brush to pull it tightish straight as you dry. I use a little bit of serum too. How straight do you want it?
