Join us to talk all things fashion and beauty. The clocks go forward next Sunday (who's bright idea was it to organise that on Mother's Day?!). Longer days and hopefully some sunshine - we're dying to get our ankles out.
All welcome :)

Oh Blair the confusion has made me chuckle into my Bombay Sapphire nuts day a time work .... yes, she walked 200 (?) miles with her dog to my neck of the woods Grin....I hope you waved to my parents.

shop I have always believed in fashion fate.

Amber your DH's "random stuff" is brill, exactly what my DH would have done Shock and how many boxes of shoes do you have?!!!! Love your work outfit!

I'm feeling quite inferior in the heans dept. When quoting number of jeans you all own are you taliking blue denim only or including coloured? I have 4 pairs of blue ......

And bags....I have clutches in dust bags in a plastic box and allbiggwr bags in dust bags on a shelf in my wardrobe. Don't have that many bags honest only "need" one big black, one little black, one tan, one dark brown, one blue, one red. So I don't really forget what I have.

AND QueenC BAGS STORED ON BANNISTER ShockShock

Waves to the lovely Marsha and hopes Mara is ok

dream 20% code for m&s is MY6F34 valid from the18th until the 22nd. It is valid on beauty.

Dreamqueen · 16/05/2017 20:14

Thank you Everyone

BerniceBobsHerHair · 17/05/2017 09:05

Thanks for the code Everyone I have my eye on a few things for the DC (mainly Peppa regalia for DD)

Glad your move has gone well Amber though you really need to take some time off!

Blair I love sausage dogs - sooo cute! I was also confused by your long walk to Dry's neck of the woods.

I'm really jealous of the boots Shop and the great price. Worth the drive to Camden. Does this mean you are no longer thinking about the &OS boots?

Just finishing a coffee then heading to work late start OOTD is a Boden white shirt, grey frayed edge jeans and Finery loafers. It is pouring down here so will wear Seasalt coat when I go out.

Happy Wednesdays all!

shopafrolic · 17/05/2017 09:27

HI Bernice - yup, silver &OS boots are off the agenda unless they go massively into sale Grin

Grey here too and more rain due later. Very annoying as I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon.

I've had an email with 20% off at whistles, valid until 21st may. There doesn't seem to be a code so if anyone doesn't get an email but who wants to buy something, PM me and I'll try and forward the actual email. It seems like the sales are coming early this year? Maybe with the miserable weather, sales are down so companies are trying to encourage spending???

Stokey · 17/05/2017 11:19

Morning everyone - wet and muggy here too. Am in trusty dungarees and yellow tee with white Stans & Hush Star jumper.

Glad to hear move went well Amber - don't over do it

Boots look good Shop

I have 6 pairs of jeans I think Dry - two skinny, one BF, one cropped flares, one high-waisted long flares that I have never worn as I can't eat in them (keeping in case I suddenly lose weight), & one ex-skinny now bf as they have holes in. I feel like I need more (and to ditch the ones I've never worn?)

I haven't regretted getting a bob Dream, much easier to manage. But your hair's dead straight Envy so probably doesn't do that frizzy thing I was struggling with.

Great article on the Pool by Sali Hughes today about how rubbish the selection of women's clothes for over 35s is at the moment.

I've just started reading Champagne Supernovas which i think QueenC & Shop recommended. Filled with massive nostalgia for the days of The Face and early grunge. I remember spending most of my first year at uni wearing a white long-sleeved thermal vest under a series of Indian cotton dresses with massive steel toe-capped DMs. And of course Camden market jumpers & dyed 501s

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/05/2017 11:31

i knew flamingos would come into fashion!! feels good to be ahead of the trend for a change instead of trailing miserable behind as usual!! Grin

feel really rotten, i'm not sleeping properly again so ive been awake since 5am. going to try for a nap at lunch time and see if i feel any better after that

i own i think six pairs of jeans, 2 blue, 2 grey and 2 black. don't really need any more than that as i don't wear them all the time, i'm more of a skirt and dress fan, usually only wear jeans when im feeling lazy like today

NurseButtercup · 17/05/2017 13:42

Stokey

What a wonderful, well worded rant by Sali Hughes! I agree with every word she said and blew out a sigh of relief that I'm not alone.
Thankyou for sharing!!

shopafrolic · 17/05/2017 14:15

That is a fab article Stokey I love the Pool. I'd add a decent pair of slim black or navy trousers to that list.
And YYY about all the MMF around. So sick of it.
Enjoy Champagne Supernovas. QueenC recommended it - I read it and loved it.

Everyonelovessparkles · 17/05/2017 14:41

stokey I saw that article too and was going to link it. It's sooo true. I wonder if it is just the current 'trends' that are difficult to translate into wearable items or whether designers are just ignoring what people want? My mum is a recent boden convert and has converted one of her friends too, after buying a couple of summer dresses, as she has found it difficult to find every day Summer dresses with a sleeve, with a decent pattern of a reasonable length. So it would seem basically that anyone over the age of 35 is struggling this year....

one flamingo print seems to be everywhere so you were ahead of the trend!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/05/2017 15:09

shop just seen this top in case the Levi's one doesn't work out.

FedupNagging · 17/05/2017 19:00

Excellent article from Sali Hughes - totally agree with every word she has written.

You walked how far Blair? Shock Wink

Sorry you are feeling under the weather One - hope you managed to catch a nap earlier.

Dream I loved your hairstyle when I last saw you, it really suited you so not sure what I'd suggest; am guessing it's a bit longer now so maybe something like this where the back is shorter than the sides?

Thanks for the heads up on the M&S discount Everyone - there are a couple of pairs of shoes I'd like to try and need a new dressing gown stylish

Weather is miserable here - same as everyone else I guess, so ootd is skinnies, breton, stans and umbrella

DryWhiteagainW · 17/05/2017 19:31

Bought a couple of cotton/linen summer dresses to wear on my holiday with Gigis at Gap with discount today.

DryWhiteagainW · 18/05/2017 06:45

Just took my Mum & Dad to the nearest large M&S. They insisted on buying me a present to say thank you for all my help recently which was lovely but I'm not much of an M&S shopper nowadays...... Mum insisted on buying me clothes so this is what I came away with....
red blazer
top
The blazer is all MMF and unlined but looks surprisingly smart on.

Oh how lovely of your Mum Shop. Good purchases!

Well I didn't like to say Dry Wink The Gap dresses look perfect for holidays - where are you going?

Completely agree with the Sali Hughes article too and really enjoying the thread about it on here. My shopping update...

Not keeping this Other Stories dress. It's gorgeous and really lovely quality cotton but I look like my mother in it Shock. I think the print is just a bit overwhelming on me.

Also returning this Cos dress It's a bit shapeless on me and the material is a bit (grappling for a word here) 'industrial'. Feels like specialist tent material or something like that.

My work do in June is confirmed as black tie so I have a quandary - I could wear the Coast dress I bought for an event last year but at the last 2 black tie dinners I was at hardly any of the women wore full length dresses and this event is a much less formal crowd. But I have been searching and searching and just not seeing anything I really like. I have ordered this Mikael Aghal navy lace dress to try. Other ideas and suggestions welcome - I am reluctant to spend more than £250.

shopafrolic · 18/05/2017 18:06

Love that Coast dress Lib - beautiful. The navy one you've ordered is good too . It's been so long since I have been to a black tie do but historically I always wore full length as it was lovely to have the chance to dress up.

Dreamqueen · 18/05/2017 18:36

Nice, easy to wear dresses Dry where are you going on hols to?

That's so nice of your Mum Shop My Mum has treated my sister & me to tickets to Queens Tennis. Now frantically looking for an outfit thats suitable for outdoor weather in June.

Bottled out of having anything major done at the hairdresser, only had a couple of inches chopped off. she said that the grey hairs are multiplying but I'm trying to hang on as long as possible before going down the colouring road. I haven't got the commitment to doing root touch ups.

queencerulean · 18/05/2017 22:31

Lovely of your mum shop. Can totally see you in the red jacket.
dream I bet it looks lovely. Mine is desperate for a cut and meant to be going tomorrow Hmm
lib do you really want to be spending £250 on a dress when you're moving soon? Will you will it again? I'll look for cheaper options

queencerulean · 18/05/2017 22:40

hobbs. Could be worn again for other things
