Join us to talk all things fashion and beauty. The clocks go forward next Sunday (who's bright idea was it to organise that on Mother's Day?!). Longer days and hopefully some sunshine - we're dying to get our ankles out.
All welcome :)

Blair sorry to read about the break in. Besides losing stuff, it's very unsettling afterwards.

FedupNagging · 25/04/2017 20:13

Blair how awful for you Flowers Cold comfort I know, but at least it wasn't your home. Am very impressed with your spreadsheet and it is interesting to see your purchases/clothes broken down. However, the thought of playing with a spreadsheet for fun makes me shudder Grin

Queen your holiday looked fantastic - we needed another week to recover after ours, it's so full on!

Love the sandals Everyone and the rainbow jumper Shop linked.

Lib (& any other 'autumns) I tried this dress on saturday and it really is lovely and flattering. The only reason I didn't purchase is that the colour does nothing for me. Please can someone buy it?

FedupNagging · 25/04/2017 20:21

I popped to town to buy something in gingham, a cold shoulder top and trousers. I came home with:
Breton dress
Peasant top
Chambray dress

Also picked up some make up from Mac and Clarins - one eye shadow I already have and one lipstick is almost identical to my Charlotte Tilbury Hmm. However, I did get Ruby Woo lipstick which is extremely flattering, if bright.

libertydoddle · 25/04/2017 20:43

I like that dress Fedup. I'm having a sneaky day off tomorrow and going to Westfield so I'll try it on. Love that you came home with loads and nothing on your list - exactly what happens to me. All good summer items though.

Blingy pitch wasn't great - we were last group in and the panel had clearly lost the will to live Grin I was happy with how I performed but the group were hard work and it felt like they were trying to catch us out rather than engaging to hear about what we did. I have no expectations of a win.

Blair so sorry to read about the break in - such a horrible thing to happen.

queencerulean · 25/04/2017 21:37

lib such a shame after your hard work. You definitely deserve that jigsaw dress Wink
Great buys fedup. The dresses look really easy to wear.
one I love the shorts and tights look-I bet it looks fab on you.

I keep a pin board of all my annual purchases. It's especially enlightening to look back at 2015 and 16 and see what I still love or have got rid of.

DryWhiteagainW · 25/04/2017 21:57

I've just been sorting out my lipsticks. I have 15.......is this normal?

Nice Breton dresses Fedup. I need a couple of linen or cotton or viscose dresses that I can wear in the evenings with my Gigis on summer holiday have plenty of very informal day dresses. Really struggling.

FedupNagging · 25/04/2017 22:15

15 lipsticks Shock. I have 4! Tbf, I finished several over the last few months (& one snapped) and not replaced them all yet

Lib as much as I love clothes, (& makeup & skincare) I don't really do that much forward planning & not particularly organised wardrobe wise - unlike most of the lovely ladies on this thread. I rarely come home with what I actually went shopping for!

Longislandicetee · 25/04/2017 22:41

Oh Lib, sorry to hear that! Yes I always want to go second in a pitch if I am against 2 others, worse is last!Flowers

Love those Breton dresses FedUp. Smock top is lovely too - not that it would ever suit meGrin but it's beautiful.

Dry, i probably have about 10 lipsticks and lip glosses but really I stick to my 3 favourites, none of which are lipsticks. Tinted lip conditioning balm by Mac if I am going for natural. My favourite lip gloss is by Tarte - not sure they are sold in the U.K.? And then Nars satin lip pencil for when I need my lipstick not to move.

libertydoddle · 25/04/2017 23:22

I have 4 lipsticks Dry and I only really wear 2 - a HoC orangy one and Clinque cherry chubby stick.

I have started my spreadsheet - have 86 items on it so far which are ones in wardrobe currently or in my head or on pin.

The most interesting thing so far to emerge is the breakdown of work and casual clothes. Of the 86 I have identified 18 (21%) as things I only wear to work, 25 items (29%) as things I wear both to work and at weekends and 42 items (50%) as things I only wear casually. Given that I work full time this balance seems wrong.

I'm going to look at it a bit more but I think I probably have a clearer idea of my work style so am happy to wear the same things a lot as I know they suit me and are appropriate but not as clear about off duty style. Or the alternative view is that I would rather be off-duty / casual so am shopping for the life I wish I had rather than the one I have...

libertydoddle · 25/04/2017 23:26

And to complicate it further I have just worked out that 30% of the 86 items have not been worn in last 6 months.... This is interesting (well to me anyway). Unfortunately for the rest of you it means there may be a few days of me analysing my wardrobe ahead Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 25/04/2017 23:26

I have about 10 lipsticks and around 5 lipglosses. Not totally insane amounts but i could probably bin a couple of the lipsticks as they were bought for me by other people and arent the best colours for me. The two i wear most are both MAC, Ruby Woo and i think the other is called Amplified

shopafrolic · 25/04/2017 23:30

Fear not Dry i own 27 that I can see in my beauty box and loads more lurking in handbags. I am the original - feel low buy a lipstick to cheer myself up girl.
And remember I gave a few to you and Lib too!

13% designer items - revealed as a High Street girl!!! I'll get my coat...

shopafrolic · 25/04/2017 23:30

That covers lipsticks, glosses and crayons BTW

Can someone email or FB message me a spreadsheet template please?

libertydoddle · 25/04/2017 23:53

Have sent you mine Shop - it's very basic. Blair might have something more useful.

Dreamqueen · 26/04/2017 07:24

Gosh! I'm envious of the way you all play with spreadsheets for fun. I've only ever done them when on a mini computer course & while in theory I should know how to put one together in reality, I have no idea.Blush I'm going to look over my coursework & give it a go.

Nice shopping fedup Especially like the breton dress. I admit now that I have a stripe addiction.

Dry I have as many lipsticks as Shop It's the easiest cheer yourself up product ever.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 26/04/2017 08:39

Love the spreadsheet revelations!

I think you are very confident of your work look Lib so I wonder if that is why you have less for work and more for casual?

I track my purchases and also have recently been tracking how often I wear things - as I read on the frugal thread that you should aim for 30 wears...it is pretty hard to get to 30 wears, the only thing I am almost there with is my Seasalt coat (which is turning out to be a great purchase!)

That Jigsaw dress would look lovely on you as well.

Nice shopping Fedup I particularly like the chambray dress, will be lovely for summer if it ever comes

Blair what a horrible experience. Flowers to you.

Those of you who have the Whistles Lulu dress(Shop and Fedup I think?) do you like it / wear it a lot? I am umming and ahhing about it as not sure it is that flattering on me...I love the print though and colour (I have the burgundy one).

I have loads of lipsticks and I often don't wear any Confused - I think I am always searching for the holy grail lipstick and never get there...so lots of mistakes along the way.

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/04/2017 08:58

Also loving the spreadsheet facts! Think I'll have a go at one today. My excel skills are not great so mine will be very very basic Grin

Nice buys fedup. Did you also get the red peasant top from next a few weeks ago? I think they will really suit you.

Shame about the pitch lib but their loss.

I only have 1 lipstick and 1 lip crayon. In fact my entire make up collection consists of 1 foundation, 1 mascara, 1 eye shadow, 1 lipstick, 1 lip crayon and 2 nail varnishes Shock My mum had a similar basic collection and I always wowed that I would have LOADS of make up when I was older Smile

Back to winter here today. Though it is meant to be 18 next week so I'm
Holding on for that.

AmberNectarine · 26/04/2017 09:15

Speadsheets are what I do at work, not for fun! Also I really, really don't want to know what I spend!

shopafrolic · 26/04/2017 09:19

Bernice I don't have that exact one, I have the Lola dress and yes, I wear it loads in summer.
Amber I keep meaning to say thanks for the EC tee. MiniShop thinks I bought it to remind me of him Grin

OP posts:
libertydoddle · 26/04/2017 13:09

Amber the cost of the 86 items i have listed so far gave me a serious shock. Also the cost of the things i don't wear is not something I will ever admit to publicly Blush

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/04/2017 13:32

I seem to have started something! I am really surprised at the spreadsheet love Shock but relieved you don't all think I'm just sad Grin

Lib I love your ideas about work/casual and whether I've worn it in last 6 months! Definitely going to add that. And I got freaked out at the cost too, esp as I haven't put bags or shoes, but reminded myself this is over several years!

shop I'd be more than happy to send you my version but I want to do a bit more on it first... my sister is the real Excel whiz so I'll be picking her brains for formulas, and hopefully do another page with lots of analysis in it. And I'll try and make it so that anyone can just start listing their items and it'll work for them.

I think I have about 6 lipsticks and at least 3 are red! I wish I could find the perfect every day one though as my face looks so much better without bare lips.

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/04/2017 14:01

I've had a quick go at my spreadsheet this morning, far more interesting than work Grin

I've listed 134 items - 43% of which I've had for 5 years or more with 31% being items I've bought in the last 12-18months. Bar 1 Michael kors skirt and 1 Ralph Lauren dress everything is high st - with m&s, boden and monsoon featuring the most. (In my defence most purchases from m&s and boden are either basics like cardigans, jumpers, Bretons or t'shirts). It was also pretty interesting to see how my shopping has changed over the years - the older stuff is all Karen millen, Ted baker, French connection whereas the newer stuff is Hobbs and boden Grin

Bar a few items I have tended to wear most things in the last 12months but there are definitely items that get an annual airing versus those that are worn all the time.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/04/2017 14:34

Oh everyone good idea - I'm going to do a column for (roughly) which year I bought the item in. Very interesting about the change in shops you go to. I was surprised how many different shops I had, but I think the most common will be Uniqlo and J Crew.

I saw this jacket earlier and thought of Lib :)
