Join us to talk all things fashion and beauty. The clocks go forward next Sunday (who's bright idea was it to organise that on Mother's Day?!). Longer days and hopefully some sunshine - we're dying to get our ankles out.
All welcome :)

Shop dh read that news out to me a few hours earlier and it made me feel quite sad.Sad

libertydoddle · 10/04/2017 21:44

Very sad about Jaeger and especially for all their staff. It does feel like more and more the options are becoming either very low end or very high end and it's really hard for brands in the decent quality, mid price bracket to survive.

libertydoddle · 11/04/2017 09:25

Morning! I'm having a nice slow start to the day. Just making my way to the office now.

Wearing Me&Em navy long sleeve midi dress with Clark's tan brogues, trench coat. Nice easy outfit but looks very put together for work. Overall look compromised though by rather chipped nail polish Blush.

kittyhello · 11/04/2017 09:51

Nice ootd Lib. In this weather do you wear tights to work? I'm always unsure what the etiquette is on bare legs at work Confused I work in a smart casual environment and know no-one would bat an eyelid, it's just me.

libertydoddle · 11/04/2017 10:54

I do wear tights kitty. Currently stocking up on M&S bare invisible 5 dernier appearance. Personally I prefer to wear them as i don't like bare feet in closed shoes and i don't feel bare legs look very professional but that said i don't go around noticing what anyone else does.

I've just had a quick glance around my open plan office - most people still in opaques. One pair of bare legs but the person concerned is pregnant so excused!!!

Everyonelovessparkles · 11/04/2017 11:10

kitty my office pretty casual too and I would have bare legs in the middle of summer in sandals. I think this weather is a bit difficult as it's still a bit fresh so I would wear tights or trousers. Yesterday I wore opaques. I did see a couple of brave souls with bare legs and they did look a bit cold!

I agree that it's a shame about Jaegar but I wonder whether they had lost their way a bit. Some brands yes I'm looking at you m&s seem to be forgetting their core customer and trying to go after the younger market but missing the mark. People of all ages want good quality basics and this seems to be harder and harder to find. I guess sites like the outnet could also have hit the mid price brands, as you can get designer clothes at similar prices.

kittyhello · 11/04/2017 13:04

I agree with you Every about Jaeger losing their way. Their clothes didn't appeal to me and I'd say due to my age I'm probably their target market.

Am waiting to see if JCrew improves once Jenna goes. It's turning into BR/Gap territory. Haven't seen much there this SS to catch my eye.

Thanks for the info about tights. Think I'll stick to trousers. I hate wearing tights.

maradesbois · 11/04/2017 13:43

Hello,

Am very envious of those of you off on hols, saw lovely beach pics from both Shop and Marsha - enjoy!

Have been home alone for what feels like ages and ill with a flu-type thing feeling sorry for myself but lots better now. Ds went on holiday with GPs and having a whale of a time, going to join them in a couple of days and cannot wait! Being on my own also led to lots of time online, results of which are
the common projects flatforms and Chloe Lauren block heels in this nude shade which I love, has the tiniest hint of blush pink. They look really good with denim and will be great with summer dresses too. Got the Matches code for first time ever too justa, this is what made the above possible!

maradesbois · 11/04/2017 13:54

Lib shame about the dress, hate it when something doesn't live up to the pic.

Bernice I thought it sounded like Jenna was pushed too.

Fedup love your next peasant top, great colour.

Blair oh no to the hat and embarrassing situation with pils!

Everyone yes, agree with you that the mid market is a difficult area, at same price point some brands are seen as 'designer' others as 'high street' - slippery terms for categories that are no longer clearly delineated.

Everyonelovessparkles · 11/04/2017 20:02

mara hope you're feeling a bit better in time for your holiday. I absolutely love those Chloe shoes. They are gorgeous.

libertydoddle · 12/04/2017 09:24

Oh mara you've gone £££ on trainers ShockWink. Both will get a lot of wear i predict. Perfect for spring/summer.

Finally saw GP today, need lots of blood tests. I'm hoping nothing is wrong but then also half hoping they'll tell me it's something easy to sort like vit D deficiency making me feel so tired. Otherwise it's just stress and back to the boring (and hard) take better care stuff.

Looking forward to the long weekend....

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/04/2017 10:00

Do you think you might be anemic lib or have an iron deficiency? I'm always feeling knackered too and just put it down to having 2 small children and working. And you have been so busy lately with your course, your DH being laid up and working hard and all the move admin that it's no wonder you feel tired.

Bit the bullet and ordered some Paige hoxton jeans. Fingers crossed they fit at that price Shock

We're going down to Cornwall over Easter and I've just started trying to sort out the packing. This time of year is the worst for packing as you need so much to cover all weather eventualities and I'll probably still forget something Grin

libertydoddle · 12/04/2017 10:57

Getting checked for iron, vit D, vit B12, thyroid function as well as usual full bloods, liver function etc. Have a family history of thyroid issues. I've been feeling rubbish for ages so while i think it could just be stress/life it seemed like a good idea to try and rule out any possible physical cause.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/04/2017 11:05

it's a good idea to be checked out lib i put my exhaustion down to stress and depression but i was in fact deficient in more than one vitamin including vit d and the difference after i'd had the medication to correct it was amazing. I couldn't remember the last time i was tired before and now, even though i do still nap some days, i'm not bone crushingly exhausted like i was before

OOTD is going to be shorts and tights again with a peach nirvana tee and a grey cardigan on top.

Bizarrely, my c-section scar is really really sore today and i've no idea at all why. it never bothers me normally, generally forget it's there tbh but today it's just itchy and sore. odd

Stokey · 12/04/2017 12:19

Hello all

Haven't been on here for a bit as have been away and preocuupied with house stuff. I won a can of Valspar paint on a MN product test so have had to use that by yesterday! You can see the results on the product test page if interested.

We've also done our bedroom, dark blue including the ceiling. I now need to restyle it - not sure what to do with the boxes of clutter I emptied. Does anyone else get given a lot of hand cream? I must have 10 tubes and use about one every two years...

Sorry to hear you're under the weather Mara & Lib - hope the tests come up with something

Weird about your scar One. I sometimes get odd allergic reactions to things and can never pinpoint what - I've told DH I'm allergic to rain but he's unconvinced Grin

Shame about Jaeger - it's not really my style but have got a couple of jumpers from there and always thought their bags were great quality at a good price point.

Love my Paige Hoxtons Everyone, although they are falling apart now (three years of hard wear I think).

Hope you're having fab holidays Marsha, Shop, QueenC, anyone else who's away. We had a top city break in Amsterdam with the kids.

Love the gingham Bernice. I need to go shopping but other stuff just taking over my life at the moment - realistically it's going to be a couple more weeks.

FedupNagging · 12/04/2017 13:29

I get through loads of handcream Stokey and have bottles, tubs and pots everywhere; I've wondered if I'm addicted to handcream much the same as lip balm Grin

Hope you get to the bottom of things Lib and that it's easy to deal with; it's not much fun being permanently exhausted.

Fab footwear purchases Mara - the Chloe block heels are so lovely.

Ootd is the Whistles giraffe print dress, opaques and next metallic ankle boots. I sold my too tight pettys' & didn't bother to replace them but am thinking I would have worn them a lot this winter. Ho hum.

libertydoddle · 12/04/2017 14:03

Stokey when i decluttered a month or so ago i threw out loads of hand cream. I tend to just use it once a day maybe 3 times a week.

Outfit sounds lovely fedup.

Has anyone bought any linen t-shirts yet this year? I tried some lovely ones on in Comptoir but struggling to justify £45 for them.

FedupNagging · 12/04/2017 21:58

Linen t's go out of shape really quickly I find - Kitty bought a couple from Jigsaw last summer and did look lovely at the MU although I don't know how well they washed etc. Perfect colour for you Lib

Jigsaw also have some lovely linen trousers in at the moment but they are £110 & creased really easily when I tried them on

This linen t from JL is a much better price. I'm tempted to get it in the grey and also really like this top which I'd wear with white skinnies.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/04/2017 08:12

I've got a couple of really nice linen tops from Whistles - they are quite thick and keep their shape. Bought them last year but will see if they are still doing them...

The ones I have are the Holly ones. They seem to do a few others Laura - great colour! and Alice.

Hush do them also but can't remember if they got good or bad reviews on the Hush thread!

Love your new shoes mara especially the Chloe block heels.

I'm still in opaques, I never wear nude tights but maybe I should - opaques feel a bit much come the warmer weather.

I really like the sound of your outfit Fedup - have you got Ash boots? They might be a good swap for the Pettys, though I think they are quite a bit higher. I've got some Hudson boots that are similar to Pettys in shape but very comfortable Grin. They are these ones

Blair it's nice to hear you have your mojo back - I've been seeing quite a few of your pins recently. Glad to hear you had a good time in France. How did your packing work out?

stokey sounds very intense with housing stuff.

Lib if Iron is an issue, I can recommend Floradix, it has helped me recently.

Everyone interested to hear how you get on with the Paige jeans. Enjoy your trip away.

maradesbois · 13/04/2017 09:26

Hello, am on holiday countdown, last day of work woo hoo!

lib yes, I made the trainer price leap Grin, only because of the £100 reduction though. Sold it to myself that they came in at 1/3 of the price of Céline ones, the sort of argument that dh to do his Roger Moore eyebrow raise! Fwiw I think £45 is the upper limit of what I would pay for a perfect tee. Didn't know about linen losing shape though, thanks for tip fedup. I got a a Splendid cotton/modal mix one from the outnet recently that was £40, kept it but is not great tbh, looks cheapo, would like to try linen.

One that's really interesting about the vitamins

libertydoddle · 13/04/2017 10:27

Fedup that Jigsaw one is on my shortlist! I remember Kitty's olive one looked fab - Kitty if you are around how did it wash and wear?

Bernice I love the Whistles Laura but Shock at the £. Thanks for the Floradix tip.

Enjoy the holiday Mara Smile. My house has gone on the market today...will be spending the weekend staying on top of cleaning / tidying in case we have viewings next week.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/04/2017 13:57

That's exciting/scary Lib, fingers crossed for viewings.

Bernice the packing was good, I wore all the clothes apart from the dress, but it was weird, when I'm with MIL and SIL I feel like I'm never dressed "right", they dress very similarly and it's very noticeable to me. They wore skinnies and loose jumpers all week and I was in my straight leg jeans and the zip up hoodie. No doubt it's just my insecurities :)

Thanks for the Boden dress link, I really want something more relaxed, maybe cotton/linen mix, just to chuck on on holiday. Uniqlo have nice ones but they've got a mandarin collar and it's just not right.

Mara love the shoe buys. Yay for last day of work!

I've done some orders. 6 pairs of white Ridley jeans from Asos (28" and 30" in legs 26/28/30)! and a pair of navy trousers, plus a House of Fraser order of navy boat neck top, navy summer jumper and a Karen Millen peplum jumper. Will link successes :)

Hope everyone that's going away has a great time. We have a few plans for Easter weekend but are staying at home.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/04/2017 14:01

Now I have a home/DIY question. I had some custom picture frames made which have arrived today, so filling them will be a task for the weekend. One of the frames is to hold 3 small watercolours. How can I stop the 3 different paintings slipping down inside the frame? I've got a backing mount, so could I just sellotape them to that (obviously the border that won't show)? I feel there must be a more professional way Confused
