Ah yes the eye pallet - I used to love them, but in fit of money saving a few years ago I gave them away and bought two individual Bobbi Brown eye shadows in Bone and a smokey brown, which when I spit on dampen a thin brush doubles as eye liner - money saving expert!!

Disclaimer - I have worn no eyeshadow for about a year!

BeautyHaven · 15/05/2017 16:07

Just found you awesome ladies this morning and couldn't stop reading until I reached part 5 of the thread. 5 by summer sounds good and would love to join you. I really want to get through my stash but it's so many!!

pasturesgreen · 15/05/2017 17:46

Welcome Beauty! I'm still relatively new here myself but feeling right at home, you'll find yourself among like-minded individuals!

My 5 by summer are:

  • Clinique pore refining serum which I discovered the other day lying forgotten at the back of the bathroom shelf
  • Lancome Dream Tone
  • The Body Shop Instablur
  • Estee Lauder Idealist
  • Caudalie Vinoperfect radiance serum
kwick · 15/05/2017 19:11

Welcome @BeautyHaven !!!!

Did we establish when "summer" was??? End of June?

kwick · 16/05/2017 08:00

21 June?
That is what I am aiming for but some products just will NOT end!!

OP posts:
ememem84 · 16/05/2017 08:10

Sounds good. I actually think it's doable for me this time! Yay!

BeautyHaven · 16/05/2017 17:29

Thank you ladies!

I am trying to finish my MAC studio fix compact but it keeps developing hard pan after every single use. I do scrape the top layer off before using each time but it is cumbersome. There's only the corners of the pan and a bit more left, so do I keep trying to use it or should I just call it a day and count it as done??

kwick · 16/05/2017 18:08

Oooo I thought "hard pan" only happened to me @BeautyHaven!!!
I think we may need photographic evidence before giving our approval Wink

Strawberryfield12 · 16/05/2017 18:18

I will have 5 empties in the next month as I have several nearly finished, however, they will not be the ones which really bug me and I should get them used up. I could choose 5 items to finish by the end of the summer, the difficult ones, big size bottles etc.

FrustratedFrugal · 16/05/2017 18:32

Dragon I really like your hair and lipstick shade!

On a health kick, I ran from work to home! Long-distance walking is really my thing but have decided to give running another chance, following Couch to 5k to spare me creaky knees. I feel so athletic Wink

Oh and whoever mentioned clothes hoarding, I should definitely start addressing that and would join that thread. I've tracked what I wear since November and have been contemplating discarding/packing away items that I don't manage to wear at least ten times during a year. And I should do some Kondoing as well. Kwick how did your decluttering intervention go?

kwick · 16/05/2017 19:18

frustrated well we discussed what I should do but I still need to do it!!! First step: books and crap from work.
On the clothes front I bought a book about the curated wardrobe which I would very much like to implement- but need to shift some weight first...
She actually said my beauty hoard was not that bad for an addict 😬
I am trying to get out a carrier bag if shite at least once a week.

OP posts:
FrustratedFrugal · 16/05/2017 19:37

Kwick I am compiling a similar to-do list. I should get rid of a ton of magazines, sort through my socks, underwear, t-shirts and shoes, get rid of unwanted children's stuff and artwork, declutter three countertops, and get rid of some dead plants and go through the fridge. Oh, and declutter my office, get the windows washed, and organize the bookshelves

My cosmetics hoard is also tiny by hoarder's standards Wink

Farmerswife1986 · 16/05/2017 20:45

I've gone 4 hours and have a London shopping weekend this weekend 🙈 Also waiting on the ordinary foundation!

Strawberryfield12 · 16/05/2017 21:59

Gave it another thought and I think I have good candidates for 5 by summer list:

  1. Waitrose baby bottom cream, been around for 2 years, half way through, need finished;
  2. Body Shop honey bath cream (or whatever it is), simply need to make an effort to go to bath more often;
  3. Madara Aha Peel mask, lovely product, but I need to use it more regularly before it goes off;
  4. Moroccan oil small bottle, just started, so might not arrive in time;
  5. Phytospecific energizing hair spray, haven't seen much change so far, better just use it up and forget about it.
AnotherPinkiePieStory · 16/05/2017 22:07

frustrated and dragon looking gorgeous. I was described today as 'the tall blonde one who's not pregnant and always wears lipstick'. Result I think. Thanks to you ladies I'm using up and wearing things. Except when tempted by lipstick recommendations.
Who do I thank for revlon red? Fab.

Welcome beauty and yes pic of palette please and then we will grant absolution.
srrawberry that bottom butter lasts FOREVER.

5 by midsummer sounds good.
Mine will be

  1. Charlotte tilbury foundation
  2. No 7 lipstick (will not die!)
  3. Bourjois primer
  4. Hair phyllie spray
  5. Body shop Fiji green tea
I feel pangs of guilt when I see these forgotten treasures that need to go to make space for more!
DragonNoodleCake · 16/05/2017 22:28

Kwick I mean generally hot feet, soles, toes, tops. I've spent many an evening soaking them in tepid water every summer

DragonNoodleCake · 16/05/2017 22:28

Pinkie I like the description! Getting the lippy on!

DragonNoodleCake · 16/05/2017 22:33

And I'm keeping my hair very fair..it's got so so much white in it now.
I'm wearing pinks and cool colours more and more (pinks, purples, greens, teal, silver) warmed with a touch of gold. I think it's my age Smile (it's the big birthday in 3 weeks) I'm treating myself on Friday to eyebrows and LVLs

CantChoose · 16/05/2017 23:12

I've finished a joules body butter jar from a Christmas set. Surprisingly I quite liked this. Moving on to an old 'mojito' scented body butter - I hope I don't get fired for smelling of booze at work!
I have a hard pan face powder too, do you just scrape the top off? What with?

curragh · 17/05/2017 07:29

I've been dipping in and out of lurking on these threads for a while and have definitely been better at actually using some of the lovely stuff I have. So thought I would now join you properly if that's ok Smile

One empty today

  1. Superdrug vanilla shower gel -very sweet & strong fragrance - was a freebie.

On to a large bottle of Sanex next (not exciting but I love it)

kwick · 17/05/2017 07:42

@DragonNoodleCake have you tried freezing a bottle of water and then rolling foot over? I use this for muscular pain but it has a cooling effect too.

You gorgeous blond babe you @AnotherPinkiePieStory

@DragonNoodleCake What big birthday? 21?

@CantChoose i just tissue/scrape it off and I promise you I never scrape off more than is strictly needed

Welcome @curragh !!!

DragonNoodleCake · 17/05/2017 08:25

Kwick - the water bottle is a good idea. Going to try that.

Also yes I'll be 21 or 40 really but we don't have to make a big deal of the number do we? People not really going to believe me though...not with having a nearly 18 year old and a 6 month old DGS.

I actually have empties!!!

  1. the shower gel I've been using for the last half century - bog standard Avon one
  2. a mascara- usual Lancôme, many more in the wings.
lifeistooshort · 17/05/2017 09:46

Right I have decided on my 5 for summer
Kwick not surprise. Freeze Eaze product usually have the opposite effect on me!!! I usually find that a good conditioner only 95% rinsed usually gets a better result.

My five for summer are:
1- mixed chick leave in conditioner
2- yes to carrot moisturizer
3- secret key toner
4- pure facial wash
5- ladykin vanpir night pack

Everything else is a bonus.

curragh · 17/05/2017 14:00

So my 5 for mid-summer are:

  • Schwarzkopf Got2be All Star blow dry cream (love this for my hard to manage thick hair)
  • L'Oreal Nude Magique BB cream, was one of my staples pre kids but prefer more coverage now. Will work for casual summer daytime
  • Clarins Foot Cream
  • Aveeno Creamy Oil body lotion
  • Clarins Eau du Jardins perfume (50ml size)

I find make up difficult to get through as not allowed to wear make up to work so everything lasts me bloody ages! Will make more effort on non-working days though
