Great, Five for Summer it is! I am aiming for summer solstice but anything goes!

I haven't posted a lipstick selfie in ages - so here's a new one!

This one is my reward for finishing #12disciples Wink I shade-matched my trusty Mac Factor Sunbronze, a longtime favorite: &OtherStories Imperial Carmine is a nearly perfect match (only the frosted finish is missing). This is my take on the 1990s lip!

And Kwick great work on the palette! And yes you are allowed to ditch it when you are done with the shades that you like. Life's too short…

kwick · 13/05/2017 15:10

Thanks @FrustratedFrugal and great lips!

I've been clearing out my wardrobe to put away Winter clothes. I think we need a thread for "I'm ashamed of my clothing hoard". It takes ages to clean and hoover out wardrobes. Still not finished but sick of it all.

pasturesgreen · 14/05/2017 08:56

Great progress on that Chanel palette, kwick, you can be proud!

As you can see, I may or may not have a palette problem myself...Blush

There are a couple I love, one that I'm steadily working towards using up, but also a couple I feel a bit meh about. It's going to be a long journey!

another I'm not a huge fan of clarins flash balm. It does what it's meant to I suppose but I can't stand the smell. Have two minis to use up though.

pastures kwick pallets are so difficult to use up. I've got two on the go - naked and a mac one. Just working through the shades.

I desperately want a Dior one. But will treat myself once I'm done with both of my existing ones.

I'm in for 5 for summer.

My 5 will be:

  • clarins toner
-clarins cleansing milk
  • body shop link grapefruit body butter
  • jo Malone grapefruit perfume
  • clarins night cream

I need to get my skincare regime back on track. I've been so tired I haven't really bothered. So. Back in it from today.

I went to boots on Wednesday and replaced my clarins day moisturiser and body scrub. Came away with the two above items, plus a beach bag, an almost full size scrub, a travel eye make up remover and a hydra quench serum as part of their special offer. Also double points plus £10 worth of points back. The point being though that I only bought what I went in for!! Hoorah!

Today will be all about getting myself summer ready. Or as summer ready as I can get being 20wks pg. so it's time for shower, hair wash, scrub, conditioner, moisturise then nice face.

😊

EMpty! Milton brown gingerlilly showergel.

I think this is the last of the birthday showergels.

FrustratedFrugal · 14/05/2017 11:08

Two empties today!
[x] Bioderma micellar water
[x] Zero Listerine mouthwash

Both HG staples. 2/5 for summer done!

I also discovered that my favorite discontinued Wella shampoo is still available on German Amazon and ordered a 6-pack. Hoarding, yes, but this one is for a good reason.

FrustratedFrugal · 14/05/2017 11:14

Pasturesgreen your palettes look lovely! Those shades are really pretty. I have quite a few Chanel quads and like to use the darker shades wet as a liner.

I have fallen in love with the Nars Narsissist eye shadow palette and use it pretty much every day. But as I will be travelling quite a bit over summer, I have experimented with a more portable palette, Chanel Nymphea. Similar shades but it's more compact.

DragonNoodleCake · 14/05/2017 14:02

Inspired by the gorgeous frugal's lipstick selfie- I did a full face and a full on lip! Let the sun keep shining

@FrustratedFrugal and @DragonNoodleCake, I love your lipstick selfies, it makes me want to wear more lipstick!

My five for summer, also aiming for Summer Solstice, are:
Max Factor Weightless Foundation
Royal Jelly Hand and Nail Cream
SBC Leg Soothing Gel
Indeed Labs Exfoliating Powder
Una Brennan clay mask
These all seem to refill themselves behind my back so I'll be glad to see them gone!

CantChoose · 14/05/2017 20:37

tubbybells how did you get on with great Aveda samples? I have curly hair and have often been tempted by their range but not taken the plunge.
Interested to see the babyliss big hair chat. I'm extremely tempted. I've been considering it for a while but my old (and rarely used) hair styler has just broken so needs replacing.
I have used up a kiehls creme de corps. I liked the product - it was a nice texture and lightly scented, but it was far too thick for a fairly firm squeezy bottle and getting it out made me angry once I'd used about half.
I've also finished an elemis hydrabalance moisturiser. I liked this but I'm having terribly oily skin especially over my nose at the moment so I think I need something different. Any suggestions??

CantChoose · 14/05/2017 20:42

pastures that palette on the bottom in the middle is giving me serious envy. Is it Chanel?
I'm using a big Lancôme palette every day, it has 4 shadows, a blusher and a pressed powder. I'm trying to use them all daily - though I sometimes skip the darkest shadow as it's a bit heavy for work.

littlepooch · 14/05/2017 20:44

Hello all!

I have some empties:

Liz Earle cleanse and polish full size
Nivea cream in blue tub full size
This works foot balm - full size

I have also for the first time ever finished and used up an eyeshadow - Laura mercier primrose. Came to repurchase as I love it......and it's been discontinued. I felt like crying (no joke). I do of course have a hundred other eyeshadows and pallets to get through but I loved that one. Sob. I've come to the conclusion that I don't work well with palettes as I can never finish them and get bored!!

littlepooch · 14/05/2017 20:44

I'm in for the 5 for summer too - just need to have a think what they will be this evening!

kwick · 14/05/2017 21:22

You look fab @DragonNoodleCake

Ok so cray-cray hair update:
Bought Frizz Ease natural dry foam thing - you put in hair when wet and it is suppose to dry into lovely natural waves - used yesterday my hair was a frizzy mess.
Today I let my hair dry naturally and added a little serum (think it is called Ojan) and got lovely natural almost non-frizzy waves... go figure

I read an interesting article about how we are all putting too many layers of product on... and that we are listening too much to unqualified YouTube advice instead of what dermatologists say...

Well done @littlepooch and my condolences... I hate it when you find a product you love only for it to be discontinued Angry

OP posts:
kwick · 14/05/2017 21:23

It was Ojon - sorry!

I had an empty this morning:

  • Christophe Robin hair mask from Look Fantastic advent - ok but had nice effect on my hair today

I've not even finished my disciples yet!!

I think someone keeps topping up my shower gel. I used a scrunch puff thing so only need a squirt, but it's lasted forever.

Also it's started already this year! - the dreaded burning hot foot!! Anyone else get it? How do you get rid of it?

littlepooch · 14/05/2017 22:22

Here are my five.

All things which are never ending and I want them gone as I am sick of them!!! The shower gel in particular just doesn't seem to go down at all!!

Ashamed of my beauty product hoard - part 5
kwick · 15/05/2017 08:22

@DragonNoodleCake when you say burning hot foot do you mean burning sensation on sole of foot?
I get that when wearing shoes that rub.

I noticed a few weeks ago that I had a sore area near my right nostril going down towards the corner of my lip, also a bit of redness under right eye... now left nostril area affected. I guess it is something in my skin care routine. I am trying a process of elimination as I started loads of new products around the same time. Have decided to not use the Body Shop drops of youth liquid thing that goes on pre-serum.

plumstone · 15/05/2017 09:46

have finished nothing - however have started wearing Bobbi Brown Tinited moisturiser each day - forgotten how much I loved it!

Bollocking sainsburys delivery brought me a new shampoo on Friday evening and Its bloody conditioner I need. So I now have a "spare" shampoo and no fecking conditioner which will be done by Friday!!!!!!

On the pus have started going to the gym or a swim every morning, so at least reasonable progress is being made on the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner front.

Also have started operating on a one in, one out system. Well its a concept I am hoping to utilise soon!!!!

Cult Beauty box, have started the Tata Harper eye cream - two days in - no difference but I have high hopes - Also started the IndyLee toner - meh, its a toner!! However did have a play with the resurfacing pads, I think I like them!!!! Grin

lifeistooshort · 15/05/2017 09:54

Nice look frugal really suits you.

Treeball I love love love the heimish balm. You put it on like a cream and gently massage it and then rinse it with tepid water. When you rinse, the balm takes on a milky texture which is lovely. It leaves your skin feel both very clean but also soft an not dry. I have only been using another oil for a few day but I already miss it so much!

I have finished the smallest of empties, a 5 ml sample of courrege hyperbole which I got in a box for Xmas. Glad it is finished, it is ok but not my type. I have decided to treat myself to using my favourite perfume for 2 weeks before I crack open the next sample.

I am in for 5 for summer, need to make a list.

pasturesgreen · 15/05/2017 13:19

CantChoose spot on, it's Chanel, it's called Empreinte du Desert. I really love it as it's of the few eye palettes where all the colour actually work for me!

DragonNoodleCake · 15/05/2017 13:57

Pastures Thanks to your picture I've noticed just how closely Avon copy the Chanel packaging, cheeky.

I have quite a few eye pallets too, nothing as glam as yours though Smile
