Plum Envy

FrustratedFrugal · 10/05/2017 20:19

We got half a dozen cuddly toys (three Picachus and several Rilakkuma toys), plenty of maneki neko (the waving cat) stuff, including algae based snacks and tiny chocolate filled edible cats. Some prettily packaged new harvest green tea. A navy silk scarf and a paper fan decorated with an intricate pattern featuring industrial plants, Picachus and poke balls. Plus a pack of Spiderman handkerchiefs. I did not ask for cosmetics (I'll hit Asian airports later this month). I kind of regret it now because I'm sure I would have ended up with some really weird and wonderful things Wink

DH had photos of Japan's crown prince, and a boy band of dancing bureaucrats.

We are definitely heading there sometime next year Wink

FrustratedFrugal · 10/05/2017 20:20

plumstone enjoy the box - everyone needs a treat every now and then Wink

Strawberryfield12 · 10/05/2017 21:29

Thank you Kwick, Mowglik. I guess buying foundation in order to use up probably would be perverting the spirit of this thread Grin

Plum I was watching Hirons video about the box and was very tempted, but resisted.

Have a small empty - Elizabeth Arden serum capsules small size of 7 from my recently bought Red box. I really liked them, one day I will repurchase them when I work through the stash.

kwick · 11/05/2017 07:24

I have an empty:

  • Wella Oil Reflections shampoo 50ml from the Look Fantastic advent: was ok - does not leave an oil slick

So just determinedly tried to use a Blow Dry spray travel size from Tresemme thatvI have had for years and think I have only used once - but the spray will not work, so am chucking.

Please I need advice on what to buy to use on my newly layered hair that will not add oil but will diminish the frizz???

OP posts:
DragonNoodleCake · 11/05/2017 09:51

Kwick another HG for me is Cloud Nine Magic Potion (makes your hair dry quicker and provides heat protection too) I never not use it.
Also I need to start keeping mini bottles to send you lot samples in.

Redken do a velvet gelatine its a pre blow dry gel rather than oil and also a lotion one too . Both would prevent frizz without being oily.
I've some of both - will send you samples 😀

plumstone · 11/05/2017 12:02

Kwik - Have you got a babyliss big hair? I love mine and it turned a not quite curly, not quite wavy, frizz ball into a semi sleek and swishy layered style that I love, don't care if its not high fashion its low maintenance and needs no product on it after a blow dry, and I get the odd complement!!!

Also - My box has been despatched - reading that back it seems slightly crude!!! Grin

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 11/05/2017 12:57

Love a babyliss big hair. I think, like all good things, I read about it here!
Finished a clarins beauty flash balm. Never knowingly bought clarins as never on my radar so who knows where is came from. Seemed ok but no wonder product.

Now need to start on fake tan mountain and I want more!!! I read about m&s oil drops to add to regular moisturiser so may try those next. I wash my hands a lot at work so always seem to rock an awesome mid forearm tide mark by day 3.
Also got a goody bag from escentual order. Quite a few nice things but no good at reducing mountain!
Very jealous re Japan treats. Perhaps we need to organise a group trip?!?

littlepooch · 11/05/2017 18:13

I have an empty. A Bliss roaming face wash. It's been quarter full for ages so have focused on getting rid hurrah! Think it's a bit harsh for my skin now - it worked wonders in my early 20s.

Also binned a soap and glory mascara - it has been open a while and was getting all dries up so thought time to go. I'm trying a lancome mini one I found in my stash and so far so good!

littlepooch · 11/05/2017 18:15

I have toyed with a babyliss big hair for ages but always wonder if it would work as my hair is not only wavy and frizzy but so thick. But id love not to have to iron or curl the hell out of it with my trusty ghds!

kwick · 11/05/2017 18:45

I love you @DragonNoodleCake you are too kind! 💕

@plumstone I just bought a Babyliss curling tong but not this Big Hair of which you speak... maybe something to add to my wish list Grin

I have always been very lazy about my hair - washing each day, then pulling back wet... hairdresser has told me to STOP as I am really damaging my hair... so far this week I have made it to blowdry before ponytailing each day... think I will have to step up some more and get up even earlier

Hello everyone, can I join please? I've been working on my hoard over a number of years buy every so often I go on a spree and end up buying more than I should (birthdays and Christmas mainly). I started following these threads around January time and they are helping me make more of an effort to use up everything in a particular category before I buy something new. so thank you for getting me into the right mind-set and keeping me there!

Empties so far for May:
Green People Neutral scent shower gel - nice enough for a SLS and fragrance free shower gel but expensive £12 for 200ml. I replaced it with an Urtekram (Danish brand) frangrance free shower gel, which was £7 for 500ml. I find during the summer months I can't use my perfumed shower gels as they bring me out in a rash, they are fine to use in winter - annoying! Might repurchase.

REN Neroli and grapefruit body lotion mini size - nice, silicone free body lotion but the fragrance didn't last and it was hard to get out of the bottle and needed lots of rubbing in. Might repurchase after I've used up the million body lotions in my backlog.

Neom Daily Destress bath oil mini size - I saw AMR raving about AA bath oils and so I got this and some mini AA ones to try. Smells nice and does make my shoulders go down a bit when I use it. But I also can't use them during the summer, as above. Used this one up by mixing it with my fragrance free shower gel. Will need to do this with my other ones after the summer.

Elemis flash balm mini size - too perfumed. Feels like it sits on my skin which I don't like. Made me look sweaty rather than glowy. I have another mini size to use up and then I will not repurchase.

Treeballarae · 11/05/2017 20:08

Sorry that turned out to be a bit of an essay Blush

Tubbybells · 11/05/2017 21:01

Looks like some of you have been doing really well - others have been enabling - tut tut

54.Elemis pro collagen marine cream 15ml - from Marie Claire
55. tesco value conditioner - continuing with the co washing
56. clinique laserwear serum sample nothing special
57. aveda be curly 15 ml sample
58. aveda be curly style prep 10 ml sample
59. Origins ginger hand cream - used up on legs - must be about 6 yrs old
60. miss Dior perfume sample

Still struggling with makeup - I will post a pic of a pallet I need permission to bin.

I may need to purchase some face spf - I have some ultrasun ( nice and light ) and some Elizabeth Arden ( greasy blob - only good for holls) - any recommendations??

Tubbybells · 11/05/2017 21:03

Treeball - I thought the same about the flash balm but ended up loving it !!

kwick · 12/05/2017 08:17

Welcome @Treeballarae !!!!
Great work with the empties!!!

Well done @Tubbybells!!! Are your numbers since you came on the thread? Wow!!
I like the Body Shop skin defence 50 spf.

What are fhe rules about bining a pallet? I have one where (hopefully) soon the only pans left will be the ones I rarely use...

lifeistooshort · 12/05/2017 09:59

Welcome Treeball. This thread is amazing at focusing your mind. I can't believe how many empties I have already had when I am not know to finish anything every.

Well done Tubby.

Two more empties for me today: a mini shower gel that I got in a hotel so doesn't really count as I didn't buy it, but still.

I have also finished my Heimish all clean balm which I really loved. I have the Faceshop rice oil to use before I repurchase. I opened it this morning and so far not overly impressed but I will stick with it.

IPokeBadgers · 12/05/2017 19:34

Not empties but binned a couple of bits and pieces: a half used tub of e45 cream that must have been kicking on for about 10 year old and a small no7 cleanser that was half used and must have been part of a gift with purchase.

Still off work with stress but things a bit calmer and have stopped spending money as a coping mechanism. Bit sickening as I originally started these threads to try and cut down on stuff coming into the house.....feel like I've undone a lot of my previous good work.

FrustratedFrugal · 12/05/2017 19:43

IPokeBadgers very sorry to hear that your life has been stressful. Sounds familiar though - I'm pretty wiped out too.

I've got another empty - a mini Batiste coconut dry shampoo. Love it, it cheers me up. Will definitely repurchase when I am done with a backup product.

FrustratedFrugal · 13/05/2017 07:54

I finished my favorite shampoo - Wella ProSeries Colour. It's a perfect fit for my fine, naturally dark blonde highlighted hair. It's discontinued, so I will need to find a new favorite.

I'm finally done with #12disciples! 🎉🥂

Here's a recap, finishing this bunch felt like hard work and took a month longer than I expected:

#12disciples by Easter, April 16
[x] Chanel Eclosion eye palette
[x] Nip + Fab glycolic acid pads
[x] Chanel Hydramax Active mini serum
[x] Joik Grapefruit + mandarin body lotion, full size
[x] Dove Blue Fig shower gel
[x] Avene Antirougeurs soin Concentre Fort mini moisturizer
[x] Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet L'Exuberante lipstick
[x] Max Factor Raisin lipstick
[x] Aveda All Sensitive Moisturizing Lotion 30ml
[x] Clarins Baume Levres Reparateur a la cire de rose 3 ml
[x] Batiste coconut mini dry shampoo

What's next? Five for summer?

kwick · 13/05/2017 10:11

@IPokeBadgers I am sorry to hear you have not been well

Well done @FrustratedFrugal !!!
Five for summer sounds good (when is summer - 21 June?).

So I have finished another pan on my never ending Chanel pallette - as you can see I am not at all keen on one of the lip colours and one of the eye colours.. if I finish the rest is that okay?

I found a woman's shelter that takes new and nearly new beauty products so I have "shopped" my stash and giving items I do not want/need.

Finished a 15ml pot of Clinique laser wear cream today and will bin a Clinique mascara, nearly done with elasticiser, eyeshadow palettes linger on and not keen on blue, grey palette but still going.

Treeballarae · 13/05/2017 12:27

Thank you for the welcomes.

Tubbybells how do you use the Elemis flash balm? I've got another 15ml tube to use up so I'd be interested to hear, maybe I'm not using it to it's advantage.

Lifeis I'm tempted by the Heimish balm after hearing about it on another thread, what's it like. My previous experience of balms are Clinique TTDO, Emma Hardie and Elemis.

Ipoke I'm sorry to hear you're off work sick, I've had two periods where I've been off sick for a prolonged period and I know that I also spent money as a coping mechanism, so well done on stopping, I know how hard that is to do. I hope that things continue to get less stressful for you.

I'd be up for "five for summer"!
