I have an empty I'm very excited about: a full size Ren anti-redness serum that had been lurking at the back of my cupboard for a couple of years a while. I wasn't enamoured with it to begin with, buy it grew on me and actually it's something I might well repurchase as soon as I've cleared out a but more of my stash.

Now I'm a woman on a mission to use up a Laura Mercier primer and Clinique smart serum, both sample sizes, that have been cluttering up my bathroom shelf for so long they're hurting my eyes!

kwick · 18/04/2017 07:59

Welcome @Strawberryfield12 !!! Amazing list of empties Grin

Well done one and all!!!
I am trying to resist going to Primark this evening after work... they have a Breton top I would very much like (if still in stock).

Welcome 🍓Wink

I had a minor skincare revelation yesterday: a glycolic pad + Innisfree red wine jelly sleeping mask = radiant skin for 24 hours afterwards

kwick · 18/04/2017 19:47

Ooooo what is Innisfree?

I just braved Oxford Street and bought NO beauty products although quite a lot of clothes and food

OP posts:
kwick · 18/04/2017 19:50

Oh for the love of God @FrustratedFrugal!!! What have you started Innisfree looks amazeballs!!!!

In the last week, I have finished off a Bare Minerals concealer, a Claring fullsize double serum, a Clarins full size hydraquench serum, a Clarins fullsize cleanser (the two tone orangey one) and a Sure deoderant. Have also finished off a Clarins trial sized eye cream.
Feels so much better without lots of bottles with only an inch of product left in them kicking about on the shelf!

Next up on my concentrated Finish It Off list is a Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing balm, a small sized Nip/Fab kale moisturiser and two smaple sized Clarins Hydraessentiel biphase serums. I also have a Clarins night cream that is more than half done so I will focus on that. I will now open the three large make up bags of Clarins samples and see what I can realistically use and what I need to give away.

EleanorRigbysNeice · 19/04/2017 11:08

BigStripey well done! Is the Clarins Serum worth the cash? Will you repurchase ?

I've finished another Green People After Sun (I buy for DS but he no longer "does" sunshine so had quite a stock to get through). Was a good general Moisturiser and lovely on hands and nails (whatever was in it!).

Also finished (or may have left a wee bit) an Estée Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation....too heavy now, for my ageing skin.
Also, finished Clinique Iced Lotus Blush but, have used for a while and have one "in waiting".

😊

BigStripeyBastard · 19/04/2017 11:33

EleanorRigby the Clarins Double serum was ok, did make my eyes sting a bit, even though I never used to put it near them but I won't repurchase as it is very pricey for what it is. The Clarins Hydraquench/Hydraessentiel Biphase serum is another matter entirely. I LOVE this and always have at least one back up in the stash. Between that and the gentle exfoliating toner, it has completely rid me of the flaky patches i used to get around my nose and chin. They have literally changed my (life??) Skin and I can now wear foundation without it looking dreadful on the flaky parts.

plumstone · 19/04/2017 11:47

OOOh Clarins Hydraquench - you say - I will have to investigate - currently on the Vichy Aqua serum and its fine but kinda bored of it - will finish before replacing aka FBR which is like my mantra!!!!

Big - how do you rate the Clinique take the day off balm - I am a bit meh about it - think I prefer the Emma Hardie and the Bobbi Brown cleansing oil

Powering through my Elizabeth Arden Spf - will not repurchase far too chalky on face and takes a age to sink in - will go back to LRP spf 50 which I love and works for me.

Other than that I have no empties to report - couple are getting close - but religiously wearing makeup everyday is helping primarily as I need to then take of and cleanse etc etc at the end of the day so everything is getting used.

BigStripeyBastard · 19/04/2017 11:57

The Take The Day Off cleansing balm works a treat, but it is very functional. It's Clinique so no fragrance and it is a bit like smearing lard on your face (not as bad as I make that sound though). It's quite reasonably priced though as it does last and I suspect it is cheaper than the EH and Elemis equivalents. I already have another in my stash for when I finish this one off.

Tubbybells · 19/04/2017 12:09

Wow so much progress- mine are

  1. Tesco mandarin & nectarine body lotion- ok
  2. Clinique 10ml laser serum - ok
3.liz Earle c&p sample 4.decleor day cream sample
  1. Lancôme genifique eye sample
6.decleor serum / oil sample
  1. Clinique high impact mascara mini

Nearly at the end of a few things so will post back soon

At the start of the next thread I'm going to start myself a index system - I think it will be numbers of things started after joining this thread and letters for things used up. may even put in bold the stuff I have bought in this year ( even though I'm nillus spendus)

mintmagnummm · 19/04/2017 18:47

Two empties.....dove Shea and vanilla shower gel, love this and always repurchase. And Oral b pro expert sensitive whitening toothpaste, another staple for me Smile

kwick · 19/04/2017 18:50

@BigStripeyBastard well done - great progress!
I just tried a sample of the Clarins bi-phase hydraquench serum and was really impressed- will likely buy once current serum stash finished.

I have a sore patch below my right nostril - not itchy... could it be eczema?

Wow @Tubbybells!!! Please share more about this index system?

@ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday thank you for the Aveeno suggestion, it does work! My lips are so much better. I used Aveeno at night with Blisteze during the day. It won't win prizes for flavour though Wink

kwick · 20/04/2017 07:08

I have an empty:

  • Superdrug Vitamin E shower moisturiser: smell not as intense as the micellar water and not as moisturising as nivea in shower so no repurchase

mowglik · 20/04/2017 15:59

Hi all - haven't posted in a while as baby mowglik made his appearance a few weeks ago. I've still been on the use up though, patting in lotions and essences like a mad thing when i get a break from feeding mid morning and in the evenings! #dedicated

So far last and this month I've finished:
Balance 554 hyaluronic serum
Skyn eye cream trial size
Avon clinical lift eye cream - repurchased
Merumaya Cleansing Balm - repurchased
Joseon dynasty cream - will repurchase when I finish my million other creams
Caudalie vinosource thirst quenching serum
Monu skin conditioner
Laneige water sleeping mask

I feel like this is the year I'm finally going to get on top of my stash and pare down to holy grails/stuff that works

just read back quickly, pasturesgreen I have a laura mercier primer on my bathroom shelf Ive been trying to finish forever, the stuff just lasts and lasts! Anyone have any ideas for multi purposing primers? i have another 4 to finish Blush

pasturesgreen · 20/04/2017 18:35

Congratulations mowglik Flowers

Not very encouraging what you tell me about that Laura Mercier primer, though! Blush

I have a couple more empties: a travel size Avene anti-redness mask that had been lurking on the shelf for ages and my beloved Kiko nail polish remover. The latter not a proper empty, though, as it's a product I swear by and always have one or three bottles on standby.

I've been making a conscious effort to use a Chanel eye palette I've had since, ahem, 2014 most days of the week. By now I just want to see the thing gone, but my goodness it's boring!

Also have resisted the lure of the Dior counter full of shiny new summery makeup, of which I'm rather proud. So far, so good.

FrustratedFrugal · 20/04/2017 19:07

Congratulations mowglik 💖🎉 - sending you lots of restoring sleep and happy moments!

kwick · 20/04/2017 20:09

@mowglik congratulations!!!!!!

Ah thanks! Smile lots of happy moments but waiting on that sleep... all in good time, fingers crossed Grin

littlepooch · 20/04/2017 21:58

Congratulations mowglik - good on you for keeping on even with a brand new little one!

No empties here to report, am plodding on. Think I may have a few things in the next week or so.
I really want to try the clarins serum now, but realistically have a couple in the stash I should finish.

Another one here who has a Laura mercier primer that just won't finish! Nor will my naked palette and I'm sick of it. Might give it a rest and use a different eyeshadow for a bit.

Also any recommendations for a tinted moisturiser or very light foundation. The sort of thing you can just very quickly slap on without too much blending on the days when you have a screaming toddler trying to climb into the sink/bath while you're trying to get ready but just want something to perk up your skin and even things out a bit.

kwick · 21/04/2017 07:54

@littlepooch I tried a sample sachet of a Bare Minerals tinted moisturiser a few dats ago which went on very easily.

OP posts:
littlepooch · 21/04/2017 11:58

Ooh thanks kwick I hadn't thought of bare minerals - good shout. Might see if I can get a sample from them later today.

plumstone · 21/04/2017 12:03

I have just finished the tester of the Laura Mercier primer that I found in the move.

Was neither up not down about it - however this morning after scraping not enough out the tube and binning it - concealer and poweder didn't go on quite as well as usual - not sure if it was the fact I was in a hurry or I am used to the finish - I will have a trial and error over the weekend - and may repurchase next week.
