I'm sorry, is it 1998?

I went shopping for the first time in ages today and these tops were everywhere. Took me right back to the 90's! I had a fine array of vest tops to put over my tee shirts but I think I'll give it a miss this time round - my very pert 34B kahunas are sadly no longer up to the strain. (Nor are they still 34B or pert Grin). Isn't it funny how fashions seem to roll back round again?

I think I still have them in keepsakes box! I didn't have the heart to throw them out.

Pigflewpast · 18/02/2017 19:54

apparantly you could pull them to one side for a wee
Mmm only if you didn't mind soaking your hand. Maybe I drank too much

PenelopeNitStop · 18/02/2017 19:55

Fashion in the 90s was fabulous. Bit disheartening that it's so long ago, it's had time to come round again. I'm only just getting used to being a grown up Grin

Looked on Urban Outfitters. It's exactly like the 90s, except that now, all that fits me is the handbags Grin

RandomDent · 18/02/2017 19:56

Aw, flared cords or cargo trousers and tiny t shirts. Only the squares wore jeans in the 90s. :o.

venusinscorpio · 18/02/2017 19:58

wine I had black and white gingham hot pants with my body. I wore them to a Jason Donovan concert and the radio 1 roadshow Smile

WilburIsSomePig · 18/02/2017 20:02

I also used to wear the tiniest tube skirts, black tights and big clumpy boots. My legs were probably very average and certainly not lithe and lean but I cared not a jot.

I hope cargo pants make a comeback I can dig mine out from the back of the wardrobe and be fashionable again! Maybe not teamed with a Hello Kitty mini-tee this time though....

venusinscorpio · 18/02/2017 20:04

Mini kilts and fishnets and black body was my '94 look. Classy!

wineusuallyhelps · 18/02/2017 20:05

Ha ha, nice one venusinscorpio!

I loved that body!! Used to wear it with high-waisted jeans as well 😁

Lweji · 18/02/2017 20:06

I hope cargo pants make a comeback

Me too.

But definitely for boys. They are not easy to find these days and DS simply needs the pockets.

MrsJayy · 18/02/2017 20:08

We were watching totp 1980 last week and dd was wearing the sameish shirt and bandana in her hair as Bananarama Grin

MrsZombieMum · 18/02/2017 20:09

Today, in TOP SHOP, I saw the mid calf length pleated skirts that all my mums mates wore in the 80s. WTF!!! Awful then, even worse now

wineusuallyhelps · 18/02/2017 20:09

Just remembered something but it was more like 1993. White denim dungaree shorts over a stretchy crop-top. Anyone else? 😂. That or white denim hot pants with a frayed edge!

Although I'm not fat, if I attempted hot pants now, things would be hanging down out of them 😂

venusinscorpio · 18/02/2017 20:12

I had white denim short dungarees in 1991. I remember them from a family holiday.

Hassled · 18/02/2017 20:13

My DD recently bought some bodies, and showed them to me proudly in a "look what 2017 has managed to invent!" sort of way. I told her to wait till she tried peeing while drunk on Hooch and wearing them.

Stevie77 · 18/02/2017 20:15

They are indeed, Dulcimena! £60 odd and all yours to re-live your youthGrin

Lilmisskittykat · 18/02/2017 20:15

After shopping today... I'd like to add chunky chenille jumpers and crushed velvet tops etc to the things that should have stayed in the 90s

MiladyThesaurus · 18/02/2017 20:16

In 1998 my friends and I all owned at least one pair of flared carpenter jeans. The student union was wall to wall with them.

sunshineglitterprincess · 18/02/2017 20:18

I was only 19 when I had dd so she is currently wearing the exact same clothes that I wore in the late nineties/early noughties. Unfortunately after 4 babies my tummy isn't up to the crop tops anymore

Graphista · 18/02/2017 20:20

Ahhhh hooch

I was NOT a square much Blush

I had cords and moleskin flares too - in light tan with a 'Beverly callard' belt too BlushBlush

Following this trajectory it won't be long before we see the ultimate in pointless layering - the wrap skirt over flared jeans.

I used to regularly bemoan the additional cost and sartorial challenge of having to decide on 2 items to adequately clothe my lower half...

MrsZombieMum · 18/02/2017 20:23

I am not having a perm
I am not wearing blue eyeliner

Graphista · 18/02/2017 20:24

lilmisskittykat I give you...

MrsJayy · 18/02/2017 20:24

SuperFlyHigh · 18/02/2017 20:29
