Hi, what does everyone think of the hush new season? I've ordered a few bits to try, a couple of their basic raglan l/s tops, the dungarees (not sure!) and the lightening bolt dress and shirt, just wondered if anyone else had had a look yet? Smile

I kept the Leonie dress from my last order & I love it.

However, this order everything bar the trio ring necklace is going back. I lay the v neck tshirt on the bed next to one in the same colour from matalan. They were exactly the same. The cut, colour, material & everything. The matalan one was £6.

The boyfriend jeans were good quality but too low rise for me. I'm a 12 & 5'6 but they are not kind to big thighs. Also, the raw edge top in olive was too short, too sheer & not worth £45!

Nearlyadoctor · 01/03/2017 20:59

Martin those are one of the pairs I have, a little fiddly to put on but lovely.

MerricatsHouse · 02/03/2017 09:16

Tried my stuff on, the Monaco trousers are going back. They fit but they are too short in the waist for me (if that is a thing). I have a long back and they sit too low down to be comfortable. It is a shame because they are nice soft material, but I like things more slouchy. Might try the Cropped Trousers instead to see if they are any better.

Everything else is staying - I really like the grey Lightning Bolt tee, it is very soft and comfy and not see through. I think I'm keeping the metallic star tee as well, though that is white so a bit see through. I always struggle with finding non-transparent white tops as I like thinner material. Will probably try it on again before deciding, but I like the slubby soft fabric on both of them. As I suspected this will send me off to order more tshirts now!

Laska5772 · 02/03/2017 12:21

ah , Poo.. the olive linen T is really see-through!.. it did look so on the photo tbh, but i thought as the others were not , it might be ok.. But the fabric is actually much thinner than the blue and yellow ones .. so it is going back ( and I was so pleased to get one!)..Sad The pink hasnt arrived which is odd as it was dispatched earlier..

Dancergirl · 02/03/2017 13:13

My order has arrived and to unfortunately for my bank balance, I am keeping most of it!

Yes:
-Fitzgerald jacket in navy - lovely well, cut jacket, comfortable to wear, nice Spring jacket
-Marble tee - lovely
-Holly cropped jeans in grey - good fit, nice colour

No:
-Tara v-necked dress in black/white stripe. I just cannot see the attraction of this dress, is it just me?? I am normally a size 12, I sized down to a S from the advice on here. It was tight to get on but then looked baggy and shapeless on. Very unflattering on me, going straight back. Maybe it's because I'm top heavy, I don't know....

DoorsAndWater · 02/03/2017 14:17

Has anyone tried the Devin culottes or the cropped relaxed trousers, I'm undecided between the two?

Needastrongone · 02/03/2017 14:30

I haven't Doors, sorry.

Another package and I am keeping everything -

  • Holly cropped jeans. Actually full length on me as I am tiny at 5ft. Size 6/XS. True to size imho. Lovely cut. Soft fabric.
  • Raglan Tee in blue. Lovely, more like a light sweat top. Baggy fit but in a good way.
  • knickers.

I think the Tara dress is either extremely flattering or dreadful Dancer.

Needastrongone · 02/03/2017 14:32

Actually reading the reviews, the Holly cropped jeans are deemed to be an item where you size up. I don't agree personally. Just mho though.

EggsEleven · 02/03/2017 15:01

Part of my order arrived today - lightening bolt olive tshirt. Am sending back as, to me and on me, it looks like it could be £5.99 from H&M. I could be wrong but it doesn't look like it would wash well either. Quite flimsy material and the bolt looks like it could crack and peel.

Just waiting on the Joanie sweater to arrive now.

My black bag didn't smell of anything either! Maybe they only scent it for priority customers? Grin

Cherrypie32 · 02/03/2017 15:10

I'm keeping my blue basket stitch jacket and white/metallic star t but the relaxed trousers were v disappointing, like a Primark purchase so went straight back in the bag. No nice smell here either!

MaQueen · 02/03/2017 16:44

If anyone is interested Esprit have some star motif tops and jumpers that are quite good dupes for the Hush ones, and half the price. Esprit quality is excellent too. Their sale is still on too Smile

Has anyone tried the Amalfi jumpsuit? I had dismissed it intially due to boobs/bra/low back issue but have just seen it styled with the Star Lace top and am reconsidering.

Pottedplants · 03/03/2017 11:43

Reassessed my recent purchases with fresh eyes and have decided to return a few tops I was going to keep. When I looked at them with a critical eye (thanks to this thread), they either aren't particularly well made or are unflattering on me. I am still deliberating over the linen long sleeved top as I like it but it looks and feels cheap. U keep asking myself if I saw it in a shop. after checking the price tag, would I bother trying it on or would I tell myself it is overpriced and walk past it.

Dancergirl · 03/03/2017 11:45

I'm not 100% about the marble tee - I really like it but £45?? Shock

ShesARumUn · 03/03/2017 11:54

I ordered the linen top Pottedplants and sent it back because it just didn't seem worth £45 to me. No way would I pay that for it in a shop - not sure I'd pay £20 for it really.

Pottedplants · 03/03/2017 12:17

Thank you Shes, I wouldn't pay that for it either in a shop. The problem with buying online is I tend to forget its real money. It is a scrappy top. Twenty five is probably the right price point. I will return instead of wearing it a couple of tes before seeing something nicer elsewhere.

CorrigansDoorKnob · 03/03/2017 12:25

I've found the quality of Hush clothes very variable. I bought a couple of tees last year (feather and flamingo). I washed them separately, on a cold wash, air dried and didn't peg them by the bottom etc. They lost their shape and went baggy after 3 washes. I should really have sent them back. On the other hand, I've bought the leather leggings, a SS16 Tara and a winter one and a couple of the Ruched Skirts and been really pleased with the quality and had compliments.

I've ordered the cropped relaxed trousers and the Tara with the discount code. I also have to be careful as I don't live in the UK and get slugged with delivery and return costs. Slightly disappointed with the colours this year - I would have loved the Tara in another colour as I don't usually do black and I also wanted another Ruched Skirt, and that's also only available in black this season. A bit weird for S/S?

ShesARumUn · 03/03/2017 14:28

I agree about the variation in quality. I have some cropped harems that I have worn year after year, and the Tara dresses and ruched skirt wear really well too. But I think a lot of the tees are flimsy and don't hold their shape. Cotton jumpers seem to fare well though.

MaQueen · 03/03/2017 15:32

I'm really tempted by the black star lace top. Does anyone have it? How does it seem. Does it come up big/small?

Needastrongone · 03/03/2017 15:44

Agree with the quality variation for sure!

McQueen, I'm tempted too, but the reviews do say that the vest shown in the picture isn't part of the top, so it's pretty revealing!

The jeans are lovely quality and well made. I popped into Next earlier (god knows why, what's happened there?!) and their jeans were no where near as soft. Cheaper though, in fairness.

Also went to Sainbury's. Least Hush, whatever the quality is generally stylish, not a garish print in sight. Smile

MaQueen · 03/03/2017 15:53

Oh, I assumed the vest underneath was stitched in somehow?

I gave up on Next years ago. They have moved off in a totally different direction to where they were 10-15 years ago. I used to go to Next for my quality, casual stuff. Infact, I still have a beautiful cream cotton jumper from there which must be about 12 years old? Quite heavy, and really good quality - think I paid £60 for it? It's impossible to buy a sewater for £60 in Next nowadays. They're all £25, and flimsy, with too much polyester involved. Ick.

Needastrongone · 03/03/2017 16:00

Totally agree re Next. I buy basics there now like vests, socks for DH and DC and that's it, had to rub my eyes when I came out today Grin

Have a quick look at the reviews. I'm still tempted. Just would wear a black cami or vest underneath. Might wait for a discount code though now.

ShesARumUn · 03/03/2017 16:46

MaQueen and Needa - I think if you want the star top, you should order it as sizes 14 and 16 are sold out already - I doubt the smaller sizes will last long...

EggsEleven · 03/03/2017 17:21

I'm keeping the Joanie sweater from my order and that's it's. Unlike the olive lightening bolt tshirt it seems quite good quality. Quite thick and lovely and soft on the inside. I'll probably have to hand wash it though which is a pain as I wouldn't trust the black to not run into the white writing.
