Hi, what does everyone think of the hush new season? I've ordered a few bits to try, a couple of their basic raglan l/s tops, the dungarees (not sure!) and the lightening bolt dress and shirt, just wondered if anyone else had had a look yet? Smile

Well my big order came today and most of it is going back!

Totally not impressed with the quality of the grey/bronze lightning bolt T shirt, and I wanted to love this! I could get a better quality one from New Look for half the price. The khaki military jacket is beyond hideous, way too stiff and boxy. The shoulders are huge. It looked like I was playing dressing up!

I am keeping the cropped harem pants in black...so comfy to wear. I love the drawstring and waistband too as I'm trying to lose weight so feel they will last through hopefully the loss of a dress size or two! Similarly I kept the black monaco trosuers...surprisingly the right length for me and I'm only 5 foot 1. So, maybe they should be cropped on someone taller?? I don't care!

Now, I just need ideas on how to style both of them. I'm assuming both can be dressed up or down, with black converse etc or heels. I just put on the Monaco trosuers with black heels and a plungy red top with ruching around the waist (hide the belly!) from Boden and hubby loved it.

This is my first foray into Hush...although I did buy a black V Tara in JL in London last week. Wore it out with long boots and thick tights, not sure how I will wear it in the summer as it's quite short and I hate my fat/veiny legs!

Any ideas on nicer/cheaper tops to go with both? I've got huge bazookers and a bit of a wobbly belly!

PollyPerky · 27/02/2017 17:16

I think most of it is awful and it's all overpriced. The Ts etc are pretty ordinary and unless you want a dress in black, red or stripes, there is nothing. Sorry for all the fans but I can't see the appeal.

EggsEleven · 27/02/2017 17:40

Polly the only thing I've ever kept from previous orders is a black and white Breton striped jumper that bobbled horrifically after one wear and wash. I don't have high hopes for this order but am hoping I'm wrong. Would never buy a jumper from them again.

Pottedplants · 27/02/2017 18:51

Tend to agree for the most part Polly.

The t-shirts are dismal quality, shockingly poor. I am genuinely surprised to read good reviews as they are Primark quality.

I have bought two knit jumpers, a star one and an Adele. The star was definitely not worth the price. So far the Adele is fine but mainly because I rarely wash it due to my experience with the other jumper. In fact I really like the Adele, it is a lovely style. It is still difficult to accept it costs more than a Cos knit which is a hundred times better quality.

I have bought four skirts over the years. One at full price, the others I bought in the sale as I wouldn't pay the price as they simply aren't worth it. I bought one piece of jewellery and was appalled by its quality and promptly returned it.

I like their colours and I think the website styling is superb. Sadly I'm not convinced their clothes look anywhere near as good on mere mortals as they do on their extremely styled windswept look website.

missfliss · 27/02/2017 19:49

Not everyone's cup of tea, I get that. But I am really pleased with my purchases.

missfliss · 27/02/2017 19:58

Sorry pressed post too soon.

Jeans arrived today - love them. They actually suit me! I have never had BF jeans before so was keeping an open mind. These are just great. Perfect. I'm size 12 and 5'6".

Love my tees. I have white with gold stars and grey mark with gold stripe. Great length and cut on bias. More coming later.

TheLuckyMrsPine · 27/02/2017 20:18

Really interesting that some people are slating the tees. Mine have lasted really well and still look brand new despite being worn constantly.

Do Primark really do T-Shirts that are cotton and cut as well? I cannot find a better fit anywhere else but wish I could!

neveradullmoment99 · 27/02/2017 20:20

While i agree that somethings are a bit thin, I think the quality can be fine. I have 3 adele jumpers and they are fine. As for the tees, i have previous ones from last year and despite their thinness, not one has gone out of shape. The thing is, i really like their motifs on their tees. There is nothing that seems to have that kind of thing that doesnt scream trying too hard and i like that esp being at the wrong side of 40.

The dresses i have bought have been mostly good quality. The skirts ditto. The only thing i bought that was pretty shoddy was a dress - the venice beach dress from last season. The stitching in the inside was poor. Everything else has been good. I have two of their elasticated wide leg trousers and they are just great. Wash up really well and no ironing needed. I always feel chic when i wear hush. It makes me feel that i have got my clothes right and i love the style. Understated style. I really love it.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/02/2017 20:21

..and the cut is brilliant - especially with the tees. I find them slimming.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/02/2017 20:22

They hug and dont cling. The thing about primark is that they will not retain their shape [ or very few do] and they shrink, colour fades. Although hush tees are thin sometimes, not one has gone out of shape.

missfliss · 27/02/2017 20:28

Also have the linen tees in blush and blue - they suit me and the boxy drape with skinny arms wires. The centre seem at the back hangs well.
I wore the blush one today and it did shed a bit on my navy trousers but hopefully that will cease with wear.

I also took a punt on the shirred skirt - really happy with it. Very flattering silky material and moves beautifully.

In previous years I have bought jackets (blazer and pale boucle) and I still. Really like those.

Items that haven't worked for me though- harems and joggers. They just don't suit my shape.

Happy with quality on the whole as I have tried similar and cut not very right. Fabrics could be better for the quality in some cases.

Pottedplants · 27/02/2017 20:29

Re the tees, mine got bobbly and holes appeared in one. I have far too many clothes (need to cull) and the only other clothes I have ever had this happen to were cheap pjs.

missfliss · 27/02/2017 20:31

I totally agree re t shirt quality neveradullmoment. The cut and shape retention are a really strong point and I'm afraid the cheaper tees I have had have become unflattering and clingy very fast

Pottedplants · 27/02/2017 20:32

ETA the reason I mentioned I have too much stuff was because I don't wear things 'out' iykwim? The issues with some of the Hush clothing is due to their inferiority quality, not over washing or over wearing.

Pottedplants · 27/02/2017 20:33

*inferior not inferiority - silly auto correct.

PollyPerky · 27/02/2017 20:37

I ordered a couple of dresses from J Lewis click and collect so easy returns etc last season. Very disappointed- the style people raved about here- ruched type skirt and baggy bodice. It just looked odd in cheap stretchy fabric. I can't see one style of dress I'd wear- am an 8-10 - they are mostly shapeless sacks and dull colours (I can't wear black.)

missfliss · 27/02/2017 20:40

Well we can only put our opinions didn't can't we, and fashion is rather subjective.
Hush isn't for everyone I guess. FWIW I have never got Cos for example but I know loads of other people have.

I don't have an issue with the quality personally I'm pretty happy and actually to my surprise really delighted with some things - it's moved me out of my comfort zone and made me feel chic and modern. It's the cut I think, a small but significant difference in the way clothes hang on my frame.

Needastrongone · 27/02/2017 20:47

Strange, I am a tiny size 6 and the ruched skirts and dresses suit me the best.

I'm fine with my purchases too, but also totally fine with folk that are not Hush fans too.

I must be easy to please as the lightening bolt tee was perfectly thick enough. Smile

I managed to order the Azalea dress tonight, must have been a return as this was sold out last week and customer services have said they are getting no more in. I have the black from last season. Looks great with biker boots or smarter boots for work. The chocolate brown looks super.

My returns will be going back tomorrow, there's plenty of these too, things that just don't suit me.

Never have I had such comfortable bras, but again I stress I am tiny of boob. Grin

Needastrongone · 27/02/2017 20:49

I have also got 2 star jumpers and have no issues with bobbling, not washing well or any other problem either. But look, it's each to their own.

Needastrongone · 27/02/2017 20:57

ps- A small tip on the star jumper. DH irons everything. I am er, less inclined to iron lets say. The star jumpers look super for a cool iron. Smile

Laska5772 · 27/02/2017 21:50

I am a largish boobed 12/14.. . However, I have quite a lot of their stuff now , Tops, knitwear, harems, at least 2 dresses and 4 skirts . I never had a problem with quality ,. (except one for maroon jumper from a couple of seasons ago , which I am forever using the bobble comb on!) .I ove the styles mostly , but sizing can be a bit odd though - sometimes I have had to go up to a 16/L in Hush to accomodate my chest , but sometimes I have had the small!)

The cut of the famed Tara dress does nothing for me, neither did the Azalea , though I love both the styles ( but thats down to my excess boobage sadly) .

But i have found Hush consistently good and it washes and wear brilliantly.. (However It is also true that a lot of my H&M 'basics' tops do the same!)

Laska5772 · 27/02/2017 21:51
