I don't like loud music or crowds.....I do like the Ed Fringe though.

Think Flynn fallout Hatty - just more chaos, incompetence, lying and breaches of National Security Shock. That, combined with a bit of work I am doing (health effects of the apocalypse, broadly speaking) is making me come over all Dr Strangelove. Think I had better go and do something soothing like stock up on canned tuna.

Blackduck · 15/02/2017 16:21

Okay final call for drinkies on Saturday or I'll sit in isolated splendour and get sloshed......

Lalsy · 15/02/2017 16:22

Oh BTM, that takes me back. I remember marking a Spanish listening comprehension for ds before his mocks: his answers (you write in English) were about oil rigs in Uganda. The correct answers seemed to be about holidays and swimming. He did fine in the end - hope that cheers some GCSE households!

hattymattie · 15/02/2017 16:30

Oh BD - wish I could join you. Will raise a glass to you from Paris instead.

I have possibly a fungal infection under a toenail. The doc said I have to go to a special lab in Paris where it will be tested to see if it is indeed fungal and if it is I will have to take medicine for six months Shock. I wish I'd noticed this before - I'm sure Boots must have a cream of some sort.

Crem - I don't know Belleville. At Montmartre at the bottom of the hill they have those outlet shops where you have to rummage in boxes and guess your size. What I really like there is the material shops - I wish I was good at sewing when I see the range on display.

bigTillyMint · 15/02/2017 17:03

BD, I shall be there provided there are no emergencies here!

Hatty, most British men have fungal infections on their nails, don't they? I bet there is a simpler treatmentGrin

motherinferior · 15/02/2017 17:14

I think it is quite complicated, if it's serious. There are various OTC treatments I've tried - one of my toenails is dreadful - but it's never cleared up. Sad

motherinferior · 15/02/2017 17:14

Six months of medication sounds about right from the last time I despairingly checked the NHS info!

hattymattie · 15/02/2017 17:16

Oh no - it's only very small at the moment but better get it sorted.

Lalsy · 15/02/2017 17:20

Yes, that's right I think. dd had one and we persuaded the local dodgy chemist to sell us the kit but it was a right old kerfuffle.

herbaceous · 15/02/2017 17:29

Sorry bd - not available in Saturday. Do is doing an all day drawing course, if all things.

motherinferior · 15/02/2017 17:35

Oh go on, I might manage a quick one and I think Monty is the same..

motherinferior · 15/02/2017 17:42

Erk, riots now in centralish Paris...

herbaceous · 15/02/2017 18:03

Re toenail fungus, I have two that are like claws, and have been for nigh on 30 years. No topical stuff has touched them. I asked the doc for this hardcore medicine, and he made me give him a sample of toenail trimmings to make sure it was a fungus. They couldn't find any fungus. So they're still like claws. I just paint them with polish in the summer, and ignore them in the winter!

motherinferior · 15/02/2017 18:08

I bet no other S&B threads talk about toenail fungus.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/02/2017 18:09

MI - none of it is like Camden, but how about the Latin Quarter? Or the Marais?

I had drugs for a fungal infection that wasn't - I had a shouting match with the doctor who told me it "couldn't possibly be eczema on my foot." I had a six week course of something that gave me hideous headaches and vomiting as side effects. At the end of the six weeks it was still there, and she grudgingly gave me a prescription for betnovate which cleared it up within days.

Have had day off from work. Still fed up with work and don;t know when I am going to be able to have any leave. The DDs overlap for one week at Easter - I was thinking of going away then, but two other members of my team have pre-booked leave for that week (it was pre-booked before they started work with us), so that is out.

I had a lot of problem with nails, actually my finger nails, not toe nails for which I was put on oral anti fungals, for six months needlessly. Finally diagnosed at the specialist skin department at Tommy's....I have psoriasis which is only on my nails, not my skin. There's no treatment but I cover them with gels and there're fine. Fungal nails go green and black and crumble away. Psoriatic nails just lift off the nail bed and sometimes thicken. Get it diagnosed properly Hatty Don't let them mess you around the way I was!

I think we are an abnormal family. None of us have remotely wanted to go to festivals although we all love gigs. I think I have ruined my kids with my utter hatred of mud, and erm, smelly toilets and fear of dysentery....

Get well Herbs

Arrived at the flat earlier with DD. Very peaceful here. Smile

Rosebag · 15/02/2017 18:32

MrsS you seem to be providing universal cover for your entire dept! I'd play them at their own game and get in early with your leave requests. It's not fair otherwise....

Lalsy · 15/02/2017 19:04

Yeah, me too MrsS - book time off for summer now! If dh didn't book months in advance we'd never get away because he'd be in Hull or somewhere. The nearer the time, we tweak, swap or plan around.

I want to get away over Easter too but our dc may not overlap at all and both have exams looming, dd imminently. May have to go big on a couple of fun days out in different combinations.

Blackduck · 15/02/2017 19:42

MI was that a yes Smile

GiddyGiddyGoat · 15/02/2017 19:49

BD I haven't replied as not completely sure about commitments on Saturday - but I will come if I can - would be lovely to see you... pm me your mobile?

HAHAHA at skim link of do.ctor who!

Cremolafoam · 15/02/2017 22:26

Gosh Hattie, when you first mentioned about your nail, I though typical blimmin French dr using nuclear weapons to open a nut 🥜, but it seems everyone has experience of Fungal Pestilence. I bow down to the Crepey knowledge. I have had eczema on my foot though Mr S. I hate when you end up facing off doctors. Seems to be happening more and more in Crem-world.Sad

Mum has gone in overnight to clinic to have a hernia fixed, so am dad-sitting. Currently working out how to wake him up so he can go to bed.Grin

addle · 15/02/2017 22:35

Good luck with the waking yr dad, crem. I vividly remember shooting over to my dad's fla late evening a few times to check he was ok because and having to choose between frightening him silly by entering his flat silently and suddenly appearing or frightening him silly by entering the flat loudly coughing etc to give him warning (he left the front door unlocked) and waking him up.

Mrs S - go on - book 2 solid weeks in the summer - no matter when

BD Sorry to miss you and the d&ss this w/e but visiting friends outside london, which will be great as they aee v lovely old neighbours we haven't seen for over a year.

Lalsy - you still not feeling right?

Collymollypuff · 15/02/2017 22:41

I definitely can't make it this Friday either, BD. Sad But it looks like you'll have the cream of Crepey company. Wink

Lalsy · 15/02/2017 22:55

Grin at the range of crepey expertise now including Fugal Toe.

No, I am tickety boo now Addle, thanks. Just fancy some Fun and getting away.....
