Oh Auriga: I think one reason I am feeling clobbered is because I finished that big novel draft - it's not the last but I hope coming up for it and was a really huge overhaul not a tidy-up - in the week DD1 turned 16. I feel ancient.

DP gave me a soppy card this morning as usual Hmm. We went out because both Inferiorettes announced they were dining elsewhere and we've not been out for - oh gawd I hate to think - so we availed ourselves of such Forest Hill options as are open on a Monday and conversedShock

motherinferior · 14/02/2017 08:44

On a vaguely S&B note, anyone fancy the Woolovers sale in Battersea on Sat? I am not sure about D&S as have a 50th to go to and am not sure about pre-loading!

Half term is going well in the Wobblehouse I think (hoping not to tempt fate by saying that). Revision is taking place - my patented technique is that revision is the preferable alternative to the other activities on offer. Dd3 is so bored that she's reading Madame Bovary "and it's not even my set text - that's how bored I am".

I must say I thought it would take longer than one day to get bored of u tube and Modern Family but we do have builders in so the TV is inaccessible unless you want to risk engaging in conversation with assorted Hairy Poles - which she doesn't (and I'm not at all sorry).

And reports from uni suggest work is taking place there too. Sorry for those of you with troubles - I do hope they resolve themselves soon, or as soon as can realistically be expected.

hattymattie · 14/02/2017 09:08

Well hello Rudy and welcome back from globetrotting. Are you back on UK time yet?

Stropps - I'm so sorry it's all going pear shaped again. You really deserve a break.

BTM - glad trip with DD went well.

Crem - glad you're feeling better. It's great that DD turned to you after her break up. Are they to still live together in the run up to finals?

DS is going on a mysterious trip to Paris with a girl "who is friend" not a "girlfriend".

Auriga · 14/02/2017 09:13

Ha. DH and I were 'just good friends' the first time we went to Paris together Wink

hattymattie · 14/02/2017 09:17

GrinAuriga. DS has just left and told me I can watch Bridgit Jones if feeling lonely - cheeky monkey!

herbaceous · 14/02/2017 10:08

Ever practical, DP bought me some Valentine's flowers last night, to avoid the crowds. Grin And DS bought me some red roses from Asda (he talked me through the various pricing options available) while he was out and about yesterday with my pal.

The lovely kittens I set my heart on have been reserved by someone else. I am disproportionately upset, so presume this is rebound/grieving. We had already named them Margot and Jerry.

Sorry about DD trials Stropps. Such a shame - things were so hopeful a few months ago. Is there hope that while the path is up and down, the general trajectory is upwards?

No idea what to do with DS today. On the plus side, a crocus is coming up in the garden!

Cremolafoam · 14/02/2017 10:13

Ooh, watching with fascination Hattie. Is she a prospective girlfriend do you think?Wink

KangaRudy, are you home, mate?

Dd will be moving out of shared flat apparently , but for now her ex has moved back in with mum and dad. She is planning to get somewhere with a friend, so that's good. They are starting looking next week. Of course it would come at this time, when everything is 'all hands to the pump ' with essays and deadlines. I can't think about it otherwise I'll get stressed, which I can't afford to do.
I am feeling better than this time last week, so at the very least don't need to sleep in the afternoon, about which I feel triumphant.

Have received a smushy card and Flowersfrom dh, who gets severalStarStarStar for effort.

Cremolafoam · 14/02/2017 10:22

Waving at WAF who has gone quiet.👋🏻

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 14/02/2017 10:24

Happy Valentine's Day, Crepeys Flowers

I've just been to a Business Breakfast to listen to the new economic figures, that's how bored I am! I networked with lots of men in suits..... This is phase one of getting back into work. It's not necessarily the best time, but I think it might be the best time for me. Bugger getting up early, though!

Blackduck · 14/02/2017 10:54

No cards here - we never have so no surprise or disappointment Grin

Hoping all is well with everyone!

bigTillyMint · 14/02/2017 11:06

No card from DH, but I gave him one - BFF chose an almost identical one for her DH yesterday (mine was bought a couple of days ago) - so I am hoping his guilt-ometer will be tickingWink

Beachy, I don't envy you your business breakfast, but there is only so much sitting at home waiting to scoop up the mess one can do.

Cremo, flat-finding isn't probably that big a deal for your DD - I don't remember it being a major stress when I was young!

I have cleared out my pay slips folder and found payslips from 1998. No idea what I did with the ones from 10 years previously, but they may have been chucked out when we moved, which is a shame as I would love to have seen my first ever payslip. Now time for some shredding...

hattymattie · 14/02/2017 11:55

I have been out and bought pink champagne and fresh prawns. If I get flowers at all they will be orange from the supermarket. I will report back!

Herbs - you have to get two kittens now just for the brilliant names Smile.

Rosebag · 14/02/2017 12:34

Sorry for all those missing their loved ones, and also beloved pets. Flowers

Hello Rudy Smile

I have had a card and chocolates. I never give Valentines day stuff (poor DH) because I'm a bah humbug, non believer ....

Gosh Beachy thats high powered for a Tuesday morning! Just a small reality check...DH hasn't been home before 10pm for at least two weeks..Hmm Be careful what you wish for! Hope we can MU soon?

Glad the weekend worked out well BTM

Commiserations to Crepeys on revision duty. Thankless. DD has been well stuck into an assignment but she's motivated because Its Not School. We are going out now to pick up the second Mint Velvet top I have ordered as, I am so pleased with the first one. It's on click and collect locally. I have the blue, now collecting one in black DS2 is at Euston waiting for historian back to Uni.

motherinferior · 14/02/2017 12:48

DD1 assures me she is revising along with her crowded social calendar.

I am back from a meeting that has generated a REGULAR GIG from April: won't cover everything but BOY would it be useful if it comes off (which it should do as was meeting with the new chief exec, a colleague of mine from waaaaaay back).

hattymattie · 14/02/2017 13:09

Fantastic news MISmile

motherinferior · 14/02/2017 13:56

I keep thinking 'don't count your chickens' but hell, the universe owes me a break:)

Lalsy · 14/02/2017 13:58

Count away, MI Smile. Regular gig [swoons]

hattymattie · 14/02/2017 15:59

I always think like that MI but if you know the new chief exec it sounds like a goer. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

motherinferior · 14/02/2017 16:16

It was a meeting with said chief exec. It's a very small outfit and he wants a few days' support every month...

Cremolafoam · 14/02/2017 16:42

Just had coffee out with old art college chum- (we go waay back). Spent most of it oggling website of acquaintance who makes boringly plain cushions , now sold at Heals for over £100. We are both enraged Envyand in awe of her. she is stunning looking and her papa set her cushion biz up for her.EnvyEnvyEnvy seriously dull cushions, did I mention? We are kicking our wasted creative talented selves in the butt.
Sigh.SadAngry

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/02/2017 17:10

Can't you renounce work and go into lucrative non boring cushion production Crem?

hattymattie · 14/02/2017 17:14

£100 for a cushion? A normal size sofa cushion?Shock

I got red roses - he's finally understood that the sulk following orange flowers is not worth it.

Cremolafoam · 14/02/2017 17:34

Cushion Millionaire
