Car retrieved from garage.

Pros: passed MoT, have record-breaking brakes (no new pads or discs for 35,000 miles), and had nice chat with Hot Oily Mechanic about his lovely cat.

Cons: left DS's soggy swimming kit there.

Pros: I will have to go and retrieve it.

It's my birthday and here is the surprise cake that ds made and presented me with when I got home this evening. About 2 hours previously, I gave up waiting on dd to remember and sent her a message saying "Please wish me happy birthday, because I am sad." So she sent me a gif of some dancing cats. I am too busy to have a birthday this year, so that's it now.
Am going to Bath for course from work tomorrow, and then staying in B&B before going to Bristol the following morning to collect a carload of stuff from dd. She is mad-bonkers and physically not right either.
Beachy, hope it's just a blip for ds. BTM, great that ds is managing to focus on some schoolwork.
Am so completely downcast by the endless parade of depressing pontification on FB that I may have to give up on it for a while. Still not sleeping. Boo.
Crem, a very old friend of mine is married to a Moroccan who works as a tour guide (he's a Berber, and his mum and several sibs still live in Morocco). They came to stay last year and he showed us loads of the videos he has made on his tours and said he would take us to all the wildest places. I so want to go.

Thank you for your lovely birthday greetings. I am having an unwise second glass of decent Chianti (the regret will kick in as the alarm goes off at 5.30am tomorrow) and introducing the hamster to coffee and walnut cake. His verdict is that is not as good as the spoonful of my porridge that I gave him for breakfast yesterday.

I am creeping back in here & wondering if I should post or not. As you know we were away in Tenerife until mid Jan & the last 2 weeks or so of that holiday, the internet there vanished.

I felt so much better, so much less anxiety when I wasn't looking at the news, catching up on social media etc that I have banned myself from it for the whole of January.

(Excepting Zombie - I could not leave that).

You are a wonderful bunch of people, but (thanks Southern Rail) I don't see me getting to London to meet you all and my mental health and anxiety is so much better with the limited internet access I have allowed myself for the last 3/4 weeks that I do intend to keep that up.

Being retired and being at home it is all too easy to spend far to much time on the internet and as life has gone to 'hell in a handcart' (blame the orange one) I am going to stay with my limitations on how much time I spend logged in.

Hope this post doesn't sound all me, me, me - but I didn't want to leave without saying thank you to the nicest group of people I have ever not met on the internet.

(And I may change my mind a few months down the line & be back - if I that's OK!)
