Frizzy hair issues

What is the best thing to stop frizzy hair? Tried all the lotions & potions out there but they don't seem to stop the hairs on the top of my head going mad even & doing their own thing.
Also, best way to get heathy shiny hair on frizzy/wave hair?

Yes Mawsy I forgot to mention, do not touch it as it dries! It's so difficult not to, but it does cause frizz if you don't leave it alone.

Tessticklesyourfancy · 02/01/2017 22:09

Had an ish go with CG method. I say ish as I used washing up liquid, god my hair was squeaky, the used dove conditioner, don't think it's the right type of conditioner but it's all I had then used the boots pink curl cream. I need to have a look for some silicon e free cons plus gel. My hair is looking pretty good and curly, loads better than its usual fluff! Smile I'm about to do the pineapple but what it will look like in the morning is anyone's guess! I'm going to stick with it for a few weeks and see how I go but I will need to wash it every day, three or four times a week won't work at all for me, I cannot wash the rest of me and not my hair.
Can anyone recommend a conditioner from. Boots or Morrisons thanks good for coloured hair but silicone free? Thanks Smile

Newbrummie · 02/01/2017 22:11

Yes to coconuts works for me from boots or the umberto curly conditioner, pink tube.

Mawsymoo · 02/01/2017 22:16

Ha ha prizey I'll know for next time - I currently look like a poodle! I'll have to pin this mess up somehow and try again in a couple of days!

Tessticklesyourfancy · 02/01/2017 22:22

Thanks New I'll have a look

PrizeyPrize · 02/01/2017 22:22

All the Yes to range (Carrots is great). Tresemme Botanical and Tresemme Un-done is also really good. If your Dove conditioner contains silicones (probably) you will have to do the final wash again I'm afraid as silicones won't co-wash out.

SwedishEdith · 02/01/2017 22:24

How do you combine these methods with going to work? My hair takes ages to dry and I hate sitting around with wet hair.

PrizeyPrize · 02/01/2017 22:25

Mawsy don't worry. In the morning you could just rewet (do you have a spray bottle?) with some plain water (could add a squeeze of conditioner to it) and then leave to air dry again. Might be worth a shot. Wink

PrizeyPrize · 02/01/2017 22:29

Swedish you could diffuse? Or just refresh with a spritz (see below) in the morning?

Tessticklesyourfancy · 02/01/2017 22:30

I do t mind doing the fairy but again, DP looked Confused when he saw me tootle off to the bathroom with the bottle. I'm going to try Yes to coconut and a Tresemme and see how I go on. I'm going to order them from Boots in the morning

ageingrunner · 02/01/2017 22:34

I do a sort of curly girl method, where I wash with silicone free conditioner only, leave until almost dry, then finish off with a blow dry and then run straighteners through. This is perfect for my fine, curly, frizzy hair. I've finally got my hair under control. If anyone reading has the same hair type, it's definitely worth a try.

ageingrunner · 02/01/2017 22:35

I don't use any other product except tresemme conditioner, which I leave for at least 10 mins before rinsing

SwedishEdith · 02/01/2017 22:36

Thanks. Might have another try as off for a few more days still. I wash my hair in the evenings though.

Mawsymoo · 02/01/2017 23:05

Swedish I also wash at night as I leave for work at 6am so I have the same issue. I don't have tons of hair so it doesn't take too long to dry but if I decide to stick with this I might buy a hairdryer with a diffuser as my current one doesn't have one.

I don't have a spray bottle pricey I'll sort this mop out in the morning somehow and start again tomorrow evening.

ageingrunner thanks for that I might try that soon as I'm not sure I want to be curly all the time!

Tessticklesyourfancy · 03/01/2017 09:24

Mmm I look a tad Worzel Gummidge this morning Hmm not too keen on the feel of my hair either but that's the Boots pink curl stuff, I remember now why I only used it a couple of times, feels like ir hasn't been washed for a week. Just ordered Yes to coconut and the tresemme un done. I'll try again later without the curl cream and see how I get on Smile

Newbrummie · 03/01/2017 09:34

You get used to the worzel gummage look 😜

user1470997562 · 03/01/2017 09:38

I use Morrocan Argan Oil although it's a little pricey but not that bad. I put a tiny amount of my hands after I've washed and dried my hair and rub it through. I have quite greasy hair but it works really well for me.

Tessticklesyourfancy · 03/01/2017 09:43

Thanks for that New Grin chuff know how I'm going to tame the mane, I'll dig out the water spray add some conditioner and hope for the best. It's currently back in the pineapple 🍍 good job I'm at home today 😂

Mawsymoo · 03/01/2017 11:05

Mine wasn't to bad when I woke up (the pineapple worked great!) but by the time I got to work it looked a state. So I pinned it up but it actually looks nice like that compared to my usual straight ponytail so I'm happy!

WooWoo the baby shampoo is just used once, this will be the last time you use shampoo (presuming you don't use something with silicones by mistake and need to re-wash). From here on in you only need conditioner! Your hair and curls are in for a treat! :-)

I've got fine straight hair which will never hold a curl but I wash using the curly girl method as it's dry, frizzy and shampoo irritates my scalp.

I have to ask if anyone knows the theory behind why you would use a t-shirt to wrap the hair instead of a towel? Is it more of a benefit for those with actual curls rather than anyone who cowashes?

ageingrunner · 03/01/2017 20:29

Drying with a t shirt is meant to help the hair not be frizzy because it doesn't rough up the cuticle of the hair like towels do. It always used to piss me off when I went to a certain hairdresser and she used to dry my hair like she was drying a dog that had just come out of a pond or something. I don't go there anymore!

DancingHouse · 03/01/2017 20:51

That makes sense. Everyone I've used a t-shirt it just gets sopping wet and start dropping down my neck and my hair is too short to try a squeeze the water out first. Maybe I'll try two or three tshirts.
