Blingy you make me proud!! Seriously though all fingers and toes crossed for you and will say a prayer Flowers.

justasecond · 06/01/2017 23:08

Good luck blingy hope the surgery goes well. Will be thinking of you.
one poor you, hope the pain eases for you. Sounds awful.
Hope your coat arrives soon blair did you get it in the sale?
mara your poor dh, hope he finds a gallete des rois he is happy with!

The IM boots have arrived and are gorgeous and very me. They fit perfectly and are so comfortable. Slightly worried about the delicate suede but will only wear on dry days. I seem to be developing a taste for expensive footwear, I blame you lot!

Poor dm has had to have surgery now so won't be able to come back for a while. I am going back to look after her tomorrow. Feel anxious about leaving the dc but dh should be fine. He can do everything apart from cook!

justasecond · 06/01/2017 23:12

Oh and looking forward to seeing amber on tv!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/01/2017 23:12

i'm sorry to hear about your Dm justa i hope her surgery goes well and she is home as soon as she can be. try not to burn yourself out taking care of her, make time for skype calls with the children and getting out and getting air, it matters because your Dm will be relying on you a lot so you need to take a bit of breathing space for yourself so you can be your best for her Thanks

libertydoddle · 06/01/2017 23:19

Oh justa your poor Mum and poor you Sad. I hope her surgery and recovery go well. From what you have said before about your DH he sounds wonderful and a short period of eating cereal, sandwiches and pizza will be fine.

Longislandicetee · 06/01/2017 23:24

Wishing your mum a speedy recovery Justa Flowers

Thank you for the good wishes.

Linus, when I was thinking of you earlier on today, I was secretly hoping you had forgotten my previous aversion to plaid!Blush

Lib, how did you find the fitting for the me&em stuff? Mine arrived today. I am sending back 2 of the items because the size 6s are too baggy. The rest is a generous fitting. I thought when they always did letters, I used to buy xs and they were snug fits. Have they vanity sized with the intro of numbers?

Drywhitethanks · 06/01/2017 23:34

Mara we had a galette every year when I was young. Loved finding the baby Jesus and getting to wear the crown. We didn't have a proper baby Jesus normally porcelain oval shaped engraved, about an inch long for years so my mother would just put a dried kidney bean in Hmm ....once a guest English ate the baby Jesus/bean.....typical Brit said he "thought it was a bit crunchy but didn't want to say".....as kids we thought this was hilarious Grin........I'm sad now I haven't carried on this tradition with my kids but promised today to take one to work next year

libertydoddle · 06/01/2017 23:43

Blingy sizing on the generous side for sure but as a generously sized 12 myself I appreciated it

queencerulean · 07/01/2017 09:20

I've never heard of a galette before so it's really interesting hearing all these other traditions. Also had to google Cronut-not sure I'd like it but doughnut obsessed dd probably would!

justa hugs for you. Hope your dm will be ok. As others have said, your dc will probably love a few days of daddy 'cooking'. If I'm away mine love it as they eat all sorts of rubbish.
blingy I like your style. I always made sure I'd had a haircut and pedicure before my due dates. linus love the story about your mums nightie!
one are you on twitter? They are more likely to respond on there.

No fashion news here. Of course, because I'm on a no spend month, a couple of things have caught my eye (should stop looking online!) but it's good to make myself wait. I finally got round to protecting the leather of my new coach bag yesterday so used it for the first time. Love it.

Drywhitethanks · 07/01/2017 10:26

DH told me last night he's doing "almost dry January"......Hmm

OP posts:
Longislandicetee · 07/01/2017 11:15

Morning! Dry your dh has made me laugh! Face masks, body masks, defuzz for me. I am going for the beautified ill person look.😀

Update on my Me&Em order:

cowl neck stripes tee because it's too baggy.

side tie top for same reason. I am too short waisted for it. It would be lovely on someone with a longer torso.

I bought this v neck layering tee in both back and white. The white I am keeping only to go under other clothes like shirts but the black looks foxy on its own, and really like it.

Finally the layering short tee i actually went on the website. I have the long version in both black and white as well and when I travel on planes it's always what I wear. Glad they finally did a short version! If Me & Em are reading this, please go back to making nice dresses and i will buy them!

Just about to press buy on another order, and will post links later!

queencerulean · 07/01/2017 11:48

Ah, I hate you blingy-that navy side top is lovely

FedupNagging · 07/01/2017 13:39

One how are you feeling today? Better I hope. It must be very exhausting being in pain a lot of the time. And yes, terrible cs from Lindy Bop.

Justa hope it all goes ok for your dm. Am sure your dc's will be fine - a little junk food never hurt nobody!

Blingy good luck for the op; how long will you be out of action for? Now you have made your hair appointment, I am assuming that you are sorting your coordinating hospital wardrobe Grin

Flowers for all 3 of you.

Whilst we are on the subject, how is your df Shop?

I have the CT eye crayon and whilst the admittedly gorgeous colour does stay on, it makes my eyes sting after a few hours wear. I think it's headed for the bin Sad I do love an eye crayon so will check out yours Linus; I think Clinique also do a range.

Shop I think it was you looking for 30 denier tights? Did you find any? I'm not keen on sheer and 40d is too thick to go with a black dress and heels. Neither JL or M&S had any in store so will need to order online.

Have you eaten the galette yet Mara? It looks delicious. Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Dry like your dh's style - I'm doing the same.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/01/2017 13:41

Blingy sorry to hear that you have to have an op :( but hopefully it will mean a full recovery asap. Flowers

justa safe flight and I hope your DM's surgery goes well, I'm sure she will be very glad to have you back with her. Flowers

No news on coat, which means I have an enforced no-spend Jan as the money is all earmarked for it, but they haven't taken it. Yes justa in the sale.

Blingy and Lib I also found Me+Em un-vanity sized when it was the letters, my dresses are all an M! I like Baukjen's ruched dresses for something similar, but they are probably even more tight fitting in general.

I have a job application related question that I hope some of you can help with. If the company has a dedicated online recruitment portal (you have to create a login for their site etc), is it still worth ringing to get a name to address your cover letter to - seems slightly less relevant as the whole system is very impersonal and I assume loads of people would be seeing the application? How best to address it?

Longislandicetee · 07/01/2017 14:59

hi Blair I don't think it would make any difference because recruitment has become quite impersonal but I am saying that from a big organisation perspective. I also know that the amount of time I spend preparing for an interview isn't high (ahem!) so that would just add an extra layer of complexity I could do without!!

Dreamqueen · 07/01/2017 15:06

Justa hope your Mum recovers quickly.

Blingy Hope your surgery goes well. You must ne the most stylish patient ever.

Dreamqueen · 07/01/2017 15:06

Sorry be not ne

Karcheer · 07/01/2017 15:07

Blair, often it's a contractor or outsourced to a foreign place. If it's online, don't you have to upload the covering letter anyway.

HappyGirlNow · 07/01/2017 15:49

justa hope your DM recovers soon

Bought this as I've had my eye on it for ages though was hoping it would go in the sale..

I've been ordering lots for Dubai, too much Grin Expect to be making lots of returns!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/01/2017 15:54

Thanks Blingy and Karcheer. It is a big organisation. Yes they want an upload of the letter, just not sure whether it should be addressed to a name. Is Dear Sir/Madam ok then? It's still a letter after all...!

Happy that jumper looks lovely but wouldn't you have one hot arm overcompensating for the cold arm?! Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/01/2017 16:04

fedup i'm feeling a little better thanks, still very sore but not at the same level as yesterday.

few more jobs ticked off the list now so that's good. it's a huge list but it's getting smaller now bit by bit!

HappyGirlNow · 07/01/2017 16:33

blair I have wondered about that 😂 I'll see how it goes Grin

Karcheer · 07/01/2017 17:35

blair yes I'd address it to dear sir/madam.

Karcheer · 07/01/2017 17:36

Picked this up today, wasn't a brand I'd heard of, but the shop had it burning and smelt amazing!

Everyonelovessparkles · 07/01/2017 20:35

Really sorry to hear about the surgery blingy fingers crossed it all goes well. Same for your mum too justa.

Hope you had a good time last night mara and the galette lived up to expectations. Sounds like a lovely idea.

Well done on working your way through your things to do list one and glad you're feeling a bit better.

It's DS's birthday tomorrow so spent the day making him a cake. He likes trains so fashioned some sort of train track cake. It's not my best 'work' but as we're not having any party as such I'm sure it will be fine. It's not as if he even knows. I think DD is more excited than he is!
