Herbs, is it Spotters Weekly? Or one of those ones on HIGNFY?Grin

The football stuff is awful. DS is more shocked that either DH or I and looked horrified when I asked him if anything had ever happened to him, but there was no safeguarding back in those days. Did anyone see that Darts-playing twat Eric Bristow on ITV breakfast news yesterday? AngryAngryAngry

CointreauVersial · 02/12/2016 13:08

So awful all those football revelations. But having sat on our club committee for several years I can tell you Youth Football is very different nowadays. DBS checks for all (even for dads who run the line/collect the cones/offer lifts), compulsory Child Welfare Officers, compulsory training courses for all coaches etc. etc. Sadly, some of the training centred on coaches protecting themselves from accusations, and not allowing themselves to be put in difficult situations. Sad Not saying it couldn't happen now, but it is much more strictly controlled with much greater awareness, and I certainly had no fear where DS was concerned.

No danger of Advent Calendar spoilers where I'm concerned, because tearing open my little M&S box is moreorless the first thing I do in the morning. Grin I'm not 100% convinced about today's offering - is it paint stripper in a tube??

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 13:10

Oh Herbs, how perfect! Yes, re dmil - it was end of life but with a timescale of weeks - we were told the professionals will talk to each other (with probably upsetting frankness) to decide once you are in the system.

I will keep quiet in future, Rudy, sorry. I definitely need paint stripper on my face so I am looking forward to using it. I dread getting shingles as I have heard that it is incredibly painful; everyone I know who has had it has suffered for months.

Herbs, everything crossed for you with regard to the job, and so sorry to hear about MiL.

hattymattie · 02/12/2016 15:09

Grrr - have been waiting for the plumber one and a half hours after lovely lunch with friend visiting from London.

Rudy, horrible about the shingles. Unlike NU's friends, MiL had it and bounced back reasonably quickly without suffering too much. I think it is very individualised and also depends on quick diagnosis.

Herbs - fingers once again crossed for dream job.

Stropps - fab news on DD. I'm expecting DD2 on Monday. Have already made her bed up but cannot hoover as I'm afraid I won't hear the doorbell when the plumber finally deigns to arrive.

Feel sadder about the passing of Manuel the waiter than David Bowie and many others. I think he was more part if my childhood and associated with fun and laughter.

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 15:20

Rudy when do you get ds2 back? It is horrible when you know they are homesick. Has he had a good term?

hattymattie · 02/12/2016 15:47

...am still waiting for the plumberAngry

hattymattie · 02/12/2016 16:13

... and still waiting.AngryAngry

bigTillyMint · 02/12/2016 16:19

Back from seeing the doctor with DS - not good newsSad He is off sport again at least until the next appointment. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

But I am going out tonight!

Blackduck · 02/12/2016 16:25

Oh BTM :(. Sorry to hear, but enjoy your night out.

hattymattie · 02/12/2016 16:26

Oh BTM - I'm sorry to hear that.Sad Such a rollercoaster and totally exhausting. Try to have a fun evening.

I've given up and am off out for a drink.

Cremolafoam · 02/12/2016 16:50

Jolly good luck re transport related job Herbs. Ds no doubt would hold you in very high regard. Been browsing kittens again. Oh dear , the yearning is eating me up.

Hatty how infuriating!!Xmas Angry

BTM damn it that's absolutely crap for ds. So sorry about the backwards forwards nature of it. Wishing a better week coming. Sending strength.

Dentist pleased with teeth and was kind during squeaky cleanup- not too hurty. Need a filling on a broken tooth next week. Meh.

Have made tiny piles of gifts in dds room for all the people i need to get for. Poor dad has nothing. Inspiration needed!!Xmas Smile

NUFC69 · 02/12/2016 16:50

BTM, how awful for you all. Much love and commiserations . Go and enjoy your night off.

Cremolafoam · 02/12/2016 16:51

Oh no tilly Sad Do they say that when there hasn't been sufficient progress? Glad you can get out tonight just for a bit of a break from it all xx

bigTillyMint · 02/12/2016 18:20

That's awful tilly what a roller coaster. Stay strong. There will eventually be improvement xxx

I'm up for lunch on 10th....I think the idea was we'd meet near the BL assuming MI was writing there that morning. I have a concert local to home in the evening so lunchtime suits....

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 18:39

Oh BTM, I am sorry it wasn't better news. Sad. Hope you can switch off for a little bit tonight.

IDismyname · 02/12/2016 18:53

Rudy - I had shingles twice - about 2 years apart - and found this to be of good use. I think I used to swig it out of the bottle! Not cheap, but worth it for a weeks supply to see if it starts to calm it down? It basically gives your immune system one hell of a boost.

Sambucol

Herbs - I salute your terrier like attitude. You Go Girl.

In other news, we are getting our sh*t together and have procured the first bit of paper from docs surgery, I have made appt at local registry office, and the Vic has given us a date for the funeral.

Just had DM over for tea and cake, but am shunning anyone coming towards me with open arms, a head tilt and a sympathetic look in their eyes. It would render me incapable.
