We could have had quite a chat through the night, Crem, as I kept on waking up, going back to sleep, and then waking up again.

Thanks for all your kind words; you are of course right as usual, and ''tis better it is done sooner rather than later. DH isn't going cycling today, bless him, so that we can get on, but actually we have four friends coming to,dinner tonight, so he'll be helping with that. Next week had looked relatively clear, but I now have to stay in on Monday and Wednesday so that they can firstly deliver aids, and secondly fit them. I could shop online for presents, if only I could think what to buy.....

Rudy, I was wrong, my hand cream yesterday was Bee something, not Burts Bees. Today's offering is a face peel which I definitely need to use.

Cocoa, how are you feeling today? And Stropps, you should be so proud of yourself and DD.

Rudy, sorry to hear your DH has shingles - it can be very nasty for adults.
And good luck to your DS with the CT scan. Great that he's feeling well.

Yesterday was a bad day for DS, illness-wise. We are going to see the doctor today and I think he's pretty anxious. At least I am going out with some old friends/colleagues and I can get battered and forget about it for the evening, I hope!

motherinferior · 02/12/2016 08:03

Truly shitty. Someone asked me how my mum was at the school concert. Then the chamber choir one of the few good things in it sang the dirge from Cymbeline - Fear no more the heat of the sun - and I cried.Blush

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 08:05

Oh no Rudy, poor dh. Truly dreadful year you have had. Flowers. Hope the scan goes well.

Cocoa, glad you slept, we are here. How is your dm doing?

Beachy and BTM, I hope your dss have had an OK week.

And Crem, ironing? Is this meds settling down do you think, hope?

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 08:06

MI and BTM< X posts, Flowers

motherinferior · 02/12/2016 08:10

Richmond has cheered me, though. And I'm off to Edinburgh for the weekend this afternoon, having pleasingjngly arranged the day in the Kings X area!

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 08:11

YAAAY Edinburgh. And yes hurrah for Richmond [eyes Lab P membership card threateningly].

Rosebag · 02/12/2016 08:13

Oh MI Sad

Yes, it has been a total annus horribilis. All we can do is keep our eyes on the horizon....better things are in store for us all. Rudy Shingles is nasty...can DH get that stuff..acyclovir from the GP? It shortens the attack... Glad DS is doing better.

I'm glad you slept Cocoa. Do keep coming back here and keep talking. It's what we're here for...Flowers

DD and I opened our M&S advent calendar yesterday....my first one ever in my life. We also got a Bees stuff hand cream....not Burts, I don't think. DD has put it in her drawer..."Ill just keep it but you can use it...." Xmas Hmm

I am also childishly excited that LandsEnd has a happy hour today every couple of hours where they reduce an item to half price. Next one goes live at 9. Am hoping for the cords although they won't fit

NU I'm not surprised that the date change destabilised you a bit. Flowers but the sooner the better in some ways. Flowers

Tilly so sorry DS isn't too good at the moment. I hope the doctors appointment is less awful than he imagines.Flowers

Stropps ..of course the end of term is nigh. She's done so well and so have you. Star

Exhausting day, yesterday trying to fit work around DD's manic call schedule....and the she decided to have dinner after a show with her friends at a local Prezzo, so a late one, it was. Sent DH to pick up whilst I caught up on The Missing after work. I now only have the last one to watch. God it's nail biting.... I am now off to a teachers meeting...More coffee and buns than meeting I suspect Grin

Cremolafoam · 02/12/2016 08:20

Ach, Rudy, how miserable for dh. Have had shingles myself and it's fierce and sore. Also got fingers crossed for your ds.Flowers
BTM I hope today is a better one for your ds. You must be quite shattered with all the ups and downs. Sending strength Flowers
MI, how upsetting,A good weep at a Christmas concert was cathartic I hope. Flowers

I am off to the dentist this morning. Can't wait. My ears have now popped so feeling undersplept but less foggy.

No advent spoilers, naughty Crepes.!!

motherinferior · 02/12/2016 08:42

It wasn't the only tear I shed but the rest were mainly because my ears hurt. It really is better for my lovely but cloth-eared Mr Inferior to go.Wink

The utter horror of the extent of it Rudy, is grim. Over 350 cases. Sad
I heartened by Zac Gsmith being knocked out, but who is the winner?
Sorry to hear she seems to support another runway at Heathrow, which I cant support. Still, not up to me obviously.

Have been browsing kittens on Gumtree. There is a grey fluffy ting i like...

herbaceous · 02/12/2016 09:47

DP went to school with the Richmond by-election winner! I think she too is opposed to a third runway, from what I skim-read on the Grauniad website. Cheering re Zac Goldsmith, though. I made my usual mistake of watching Question Time last night, and once again was dismayed by the banal Brexit yapping from the audience. Glad to see sense prevails. Though maybe it just says more about the demographic of Richmond vs Wakefield (scene of QT).

Re football, I am curiously unshocked. It has always seemed like a murky world, where men in suits have a lot of power. This combination rarely ends well.

Oooooh, kittens, Crem. Ever since we came back from holiday, where DS fell in love with the resident kitten (see pic), I've been pondering getting one. Our aged cat would take a dim view, but I thought it might be rather nice to have something young and fun to look after, rather than the many old things.

Yes, Rudy, I can imagine. I guess the football world has always been very distant from me. I suppose I meant it's shocking, but not necessarily surprising.

DP's mum continues to deteriorate. Lot of pain, totally delirious. Hospital can't get her to take her 'anti-delirium' drugs, and seem to just view her as a problem. She can't be discharged, as she doesn't have full-time care at home and doesn't qualify for it. I'm wondering whether she should go into a hospice, but as DP says how does when know when it's time for that?

Blackduck · 02/12/2016 11:04

Rudy oh poor DH how very horrid. Hope all goes well with the scan when it happens.

BTM hope things go okay with ds today. Was thinking about Beachy too.

Cocoa - glad you got some rest - it will continue to be weird for sometime yet (recalls carrying mums ashes home on a bus on a blistering summers day this year...)

Cremo hope you are feeling better.

Strength to all!!
Very tired today and missing my hound who popped up on my FB page this morning....

Blackduck · 02/12/2016 11:05

Herbs - hope things get sorted with DPs mum....

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/12/2016 11:05

Yes, glad Richmond didn't crack and back Zac! Grin

I am sorry this has been such a shit year for so many Crepeys. 2014 was my annus horribilis, 2016 has been marginally better for the Schadenfreude Familie

herbaceous · 02/12/2016 11:57

It's odd that this year has been so awful in so many ways. If one believed in stars and all that cobblers, maybe one could find a cosmic reason for it.

Keen followers of my job hunt will be thrilled to learn that my IDEAL JOB has appeared. I can't even tell you what it is, in case a lurker comes along and applies and gets it and I have to kill them. It's full time, but worth it. And involves transport.

motherinferior · 02/12/2016 12:16

Go Herbs!

I interviewed a lovely and very interesting woman this morning. Sometimes I love my job.Smile

herbaceous · 02/12/2016 12:34

Cat driving me demented. Jumps up on to filing cabinet, then in tray, then across desk, (scattering papers) round the back of computer, over pen pot (scattering pens) to printer. Sits on printer tray, causing it to creak alarmingly. Sits right at mouse, so I can't use it. Walks across lap numerous times. Eventually settles on lap, but with head on my arm so I can't use it. I push him off.

One minute later starts whole procedure again.

Lalsy · 02/12/2016 12:45

Herbs, when we were looking for df (so years ago), hospices had brutally strict criteria - either for end-of-life or respite for short periods before that point. You can go and look round before you need them and they will explain - I would recommend. Go GO on job! [googles Tyre Manufacturing Weekly editorship - or do you mean involves using transport to get to ideal job?Smile}

Football - it is so terribly sad. All those parents thinking they were doing the right thing, all those lovely, kind, talented coaches helping kids get into football in the first place, for little or no reward.

herbaceous · 02/12/2016 12:49

Lalsy - useful to know re hospices. It really Isn't My Place to start investigating (DP's family are in charge) but I shall suggest. It's tricky - she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour last November, and given three months to live. So she's essentially be 'end of life' since then, but with rallying.

Re tranport, the job is all about transport - tubes, trains, trams, etc. DS would be thrilled!
