I am warning you upfront, it's for anoraks only!
Fingers crossed and touching wood, I've never not received goods or bought perfume fakes we won't mention ds's raybans.
Postie brought samples today from Perfume Parlour and from Scent Samples, so I had two teeny tests, one on each wrist, to try before walking SockDog.
Noir de Noir (TF) was lovely, a deep rose chypre which I can see myself reaching for lots. Then Imperial Tea (PP) which just sounded fascinating when I read the description. The first hit was fairly unappealing, but 20 minutes afterwards, it smelt delicious, like a fresh pot of very high quality black tea. Nothing else much, but unless someone tells me it's rank (I am anosmic to musk) I predict it could become an regular because like good tea, it's reviving, warming and refreshing at the same time.
Post ablutions, time for a treat: the Roja Amber Aoud ml gifted by the site owner. I read the scent notes for this one because there are so many ingredients. It starts quite bright with top notes of lime and lemon, then softens around to rose de mai, jasmine and fig. The base notes are saffron, oakmoss, musk, with some patch and orris as well as the aoud. Then I looked at what it costs! Over £500 for 100ml. It is astonishing, very complex and I am thrilled to have tried it out and to have some for another test in hot weather. Seriously unlike anything in my previously scented existence, it's an Alice in Wonderland moment but, (whisper it), possibly not an everyday delight. I need wafting to Paradise, not the trip to Tesco foretold by the stars.
