Continuing from the previous thread. It's always so lovely to see new posters come and talk perfume. Everyone is welcome. Come and tell us your SOTD ( scent of the day) or ask us anything perfumey. Someone will know the answer! Get stuck in and get sniffing. You'll find no snobbery here!

Lots of Penhaligon fragrances on offer on there sadly no Artemisia, also quite a few Roger and Gallery. Can anyone recommend a nice one from that range please

slinkysaluki · 23/11/2016 18:50

Gahhh gallet, damn predictive text

FrustratedFrugal · 23/11/2016 19:44

Slinkysaluki Theorema is long discontinued but you might still find it on eBay!

FrustratedFrugal · 23/11/2016 19:47

And I always recommend ebay.it & ebay.de for discontinued gems!

VintagePerfumista · 24/11/2016 09:14

Me too Frugal!

I am currently in Tam Dao- lovely, but very similar, as I always say to Dune. Even a bit more one dimensional sandalwood than Dune. Less sweet though (at least to the latest formulation)

I always think Tam Dao/Dune/Allure are excellent for either winter or summer. Warm and cosy in Autumn, but that essence of the original Dune advert (with the er, dunes Grin) late summer afternoon after a day at the beach, sun going down. That sort of sense.

PootlewasthebestFlump · 24/11/2016 10:45

Thanks Frugal I thought it might fade but I have very dry hair so the oil might be worth it. And I like to layer shower gel, oil then perfume so might be OK.

I love Penhaligons too, TK Maxx has a lot of Roger et Gallet atm.

HooArghhhEwe · 25/11/2016 02:09

SOTD is Grace Coddington. Lovely and light and fresh but gone too soon. Sad

36 degrees here today

HooArghhhEwe · 25/11/2016 02:10

And have name changed :)

teta · 25/11/2016 12:10

Slinky for Roger and Gallet I like Gingembre - spicy Ginger citrus .Brilliant layered with Jo Malone Nutmeg and Ginger. Also Bienfat - orange,Neroli, violet leaf and woody notes in a moisturising spray.
Sotd is Houbigant Orange en fleurs.

DragonRojo · 25/11/2016 16:02

After years of looking for a bottle of the now discountinued Muller Miroir Dis-mois, I found one on eBay last week. I adore this perfume but sadly, it looks like it will need my last bottle.

wishiwasacollie · 25/11/2016 18:34

I have worn la perla classic since 1997. Still love it but have been trying to find a bottle pre reformulation as it just doesnt last the same. Any one got any ideas where to find. There is one on ebay for££££££ but dont know if there is a site for such things.
Saying that lovely husband bought me Dior le Grand Bal. Now that is girgeous but only comes out on vvvvvv special occasions

PootlewasthebestFlump · 25/11/2016 18:48

They had a lovely Gingembre box set in TKMaxx that I was tempted by but I couldn't smell it so didn't risk it. The box sets were very cheap in the sale but looked lovely.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 25/11/2016 21:17

pootle I am very tempted! Thanks for sharing and I love idea of layering it with nutmeg teta

Sotd pp something: Label has fallen off though! Woody and sage maybe?

Anyone asking for perfume for xmas? If so, what have you asked for?

PootlewasthebestFlump · 26/11/2016 11:24

I've asked for Gingembre Rouge which is half price at £20 in M&S. And the Nuxe.

VintagePerfumista · 26/11/2016 14:07

Sotd PP Infusion d'Iris. (bit headachey and this is nice and clean and soapy and uncomplicated)

I was thinking of maybe asking for this from dp, but I might have a new MP3 instead, mine is on its last legs and I don't want to lose all my music!

OCSockOrphanage · 26/11/2016 20:11

SoTD was Y, but I just put it on and they came in, and hated it. I love it, specially the dry down. I am wounded. Weeping..............

VintagePerfumista · 27/11/2016 14:55

Bumping us up.

I think I will be offering some swaps shortly, as I hardly like any of my Nose samples! (not worn any, yet, apart from Cuir Fauve, but very few of them are ringing my bells from the bottles)

SoTD Apres L'Ondee. I was rummaging for Colonia Leather but dp was getting grumpy so I grabbed the first innocuous one I could fine.

VintagePerfumista · 28/11/2016 14:19

Where is everyone? Is it because you can smell the utterly foul Oyedo by Diptique that I thought I would like?

Oh my, I only wore it as far as the supermarket and then leapt under the shower. It is reminiscent of one of the mid 80s Impulse sprays, the blue one with pink writing I think.

It will be going into the "who wants this?" pile.
I really perhaps should sniff before ordering, rather than read descriptions and think "that is so me" because it rarely turns out to be!

OCSockOrphanage · 28/11/2016 14:35

Vintage, Oyedo is disgusting, I agree! Nose sent me a sample too, and it's a scrubber.

SoTD is Cardinal, and I kept getting lovely incense wafts from my scarf while walking the SockOrphanage dog this morning!

You're never billy no-mates here!

VintagePerfumista · 28/11/2016 14:44

I am in PP Infusions d'Iris again now. Has become my go-to scent if I'm feeling headachey, or have just tried something repulsive!

Am trying to convince an Italian ebayer he needs to change the title of his Dior minis as the site keeps blocking purchase. He keeps saying it's because I'm registered in the UK, I keep saying it's because you've specified 8ml and 10ml so they think you're selling a decant and Dior doesn't like that.

He's not having any of it though. Chuh.

OCSockOrphanage · 28/11/2016 16:35

Infusions d'Iris is very comforting at any time of year. I know exactly what you mean about reaching for it after a catastrophic choice. It's between Iris, and Eau des Merveilles or Vetiver Tonka for me in that mood in autumn and winter; more citrus-y in spring and summer.

I was very disappointed by the Oyedo. It's still the only Diptyche I've tried, and may be the last. On paper it sounded great, but on skin... ugh! New Haarlem (Bond No 9) was the same: from the fragrance notes (bergamot, lemon, geranium) it should have been light and quite fresh. You do not want to know what it's like on skin... curried roadkill might not have smelt so bad.

VintagePerfumista · 28/11/2016 16:54

Isn't that mad? When I dabbled in aromatherapy, my favourite 3 oils to mix were Bergamot, geranium and lavender, so I'd probably have gone for the New Haarlem as well!

I think I have another Diptych sample, not much looking forward to it after the Oyedo!

OCSockOrphanage · 28/11/2016 20:08

Just you and me huh?

Oi where are you alll? Here, now!

FrustratedFrugal · 28/11/2016 20:15

I'm so boring, another day wearing Coromandel.
Work insane atm but I'll get a long weekend off!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 28/11/2016 20:22

Hi fragrant ones! I heard the call

In solidarity I've just put on my sample of oyedo. Hmmm. Wouldn't go as far as road kill but agree not quite right. Bit loo cleaner. I mean, proper posh loo cleaner that fancy friend would use but still. I have a few diptyques on my to-smell list but can def live without this and its going in my teen friend bag! She is getting a whole heap of samples to try for xmas. I should really think of the family though!
