Continuing from the previous thread. It's always so lovely to see new posters come and talk perfume. Everyone is welcome. Come and tell us your SOTD ( scent of the day) or ask us anything perfumey. Someone will know the answer! Get stuck in and get sniffing. You'll find no snobbery here!

SoTD is the Heeley citrus, St Clements. It's vair lovely, similar to l'Escale a Paraty (Dior) because it has a slightly woodsy base, and a bit less one dimensional than simple citrus.

Hello!
Speaking of La Fumée my love/hate relationship with La Fumée Arabie has now settled into love. I've worn it twice more and it was divine both times. No Lynx Moscow after-effect on either occasion. 😂

I went to back to Galerie Kaufhof with DS yesterday and we solved the mystery of the non-existent Poison Pour Homme. It turned out to be Opium Pour Homme. Okay, so it's not a a round or green bottle but you can see why I mixed the two up in my head.
They had new ranges in for Christmas so we had a good play with all the Aqua di Colonias (naah), and I crossed Alien (meh), Youth Dew (yuk, dated), Cinnabar (eurgh aniseed), and Knowing off my sniff list. Knowing reminded me of Arpege, but as if Avon had done it.
I also thought of Vintage and had another sniff of Dune but still didn't fancy it.

How's everyone getting on with the samples from Skins? I find that the sprays sometimes stick and leak a bit.

BaronessBomburst · 22/11/2016 14:15

Gosh, that was a negative sounding post. We actually had a great time in the perfume department!

CoolCarrie · 22/11/2016 14:20

POTD Juliette Has A Gun, Lady Vengance by Ricardio Ricci. Please can anyone tell me:
What does JOY by Patou smell like? And Portait of a Lady?

VintagePerfumista · 22/11/2016 14:27

Grin Baroness - your Poison/Opium confusion reminds me of my colleague who swears blind she is wearing "Miss Chanel". She is so proud of herself for having a posh scent on "I'm in my Miss Chanel can you smell me?" (it's Miss Dior originale but I haven't the heart to tell her)

You and I are clearly very opposite in an olfactory kind of way!

VintagePerfumista · 22/11/2016 15:34

I am in Anais Anais and listening to Year of the Cat whilst reading my old diaries. What else would I wear to do those things?

FrustratedFrugal · 22/11/2016 16:33

Joy if I remember correctly is a very bright floral - rose and yasmine served up in an endearingly naive way. Retro, makes me think of 1950s. Use Lux soap and Pond's Cold cream and deb some Joy behind yor ears and you are good to go!

FrustratedFrugal · 22/11/2016 16:36

POTL is a heavy patchouli rose with nuclear sillage. Very marmite, I like it but it's not for everybody. If you find it tame, try Oud Ispahan from Dior.

PootlewasthebestFlump · 22/11/2016 19:04

I was contemplating bullying Santa into getting me Nuxe Huile Prodigies shower gel and perfume. I like the smell but find that perfume fades quickly on me - don't know why. Anyone have any experience of it?

didireallysaythat · 22/11/2016 19:35

coolcarrie may I ask what Juliette has a gun us like ? It scores as something that might be my kinda perfume but I can't find a small volume vender.

BaronessBomburst · 22/11/2016 19:57

You can get Juliet Has a Gun samples from www.skins.nl
They post overseas and several of us have been using them Blush

Portrait of a Lady is lovely. You will smell like roses with Jammie Dodgers and Ribena.
I prefer Andy Tauer Une Rose Chypree.

Vintage um, knickers?

CoolCarrie · 22/11/2016 20:04

Juliette is , almost the smell of an old powder compact with some of the powder left in it, rose straight away, musty, smoky nostalgic smell. It almost reminds me of a Coty perfume, an old one which the name of has gone right out of my head. It is strong and lasts .You can get small tester phials on eBay of all the Juliette range, I got some so I could try each of them as there is more than one.
Harvey Nick have it, so if you are anywhere near one, have a sniff.
I love it even though I didn't pick it my dh & ds bought it for me.
My usual choices are Shalimar, Mitsouko, Samsara, Flowerbomb, LP number 9 & now Decadence by Marc Jacobs so it fits in with those very well. Hope this helps

CoolCarrie · 22/11/2016 20:15

Thank you for the insight into Joy & P of a L! x

FrustratedFrugal · 23/11/2016 11:33

Pootle the Nuxe perfume does fade quickly. I use the oil on my legs, it is a bit longer-lasting but not an all day thing. You could try it on your hair - I can't because my fine hair does not like oils, but applying scent to hair is an old trick to make it last longer.

Another day in Coromandel!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 23/11/2016 14:43

baroness so glad you're back to love!
Sotd la fummee again. Perfect for beside the fire with a cup of tea! Thinking fb for xmas..... maybe!
Nuxe is wonderful for summer. Love the sparkly oil too.

VintagePerfumista · 23/11/2016 14:43

I started the day in Miss Dior but my Nose samples have arrived, so am about to go wild!

Leedle bit annoyed that of the 10 I ordered not from the selector thingy (they are fine and came in a separate envelope) 5 have no labels whatsoever, so I have had to sit and work it out from the 1,5/2/1ml thing, and by process of elimination.

Anyway, I have in my (slightly sticky) fingers:
Tam Dao (I lost my sample of that, so got a new one)
Cuir Fauve- Keiko Mecheri
Genie des bois "
Oyedo Diptique
Timbuktu
Colonia Leather Acqua di Parma
Vengeance Extreme JHAG
Mechant Loup
Dzing!
Phylosykos

Dipping my hands into the bag......and will try....Cuir Fauve.....On first spray it's a bit of a noseful.....I'll let it settle and come back!

Summertime1 · 23/11/2016 15:05

Weirdly I prefer mens aftershave to perfumes, givenchy make my faves. I used to like brut and old spice once upon a time too but thats a long story.

OCSockOrphanage · 23/11/2016 16:12

SoTD is Essential Molecules 1, not that I can smell it but I am hoping someone/anyone will notice it and comment.

Vintage you have some of my likes (Dzing! Timbuktu, Vengeance Extreme) on your list but most I don't know. Have never smelled Cuir Fauve, but those I have had from that make from Nose have both been sillage monsters.

VintagePerfumista · 23/11/2016 18:00

It's erm, interesting. It was utterly repulsive for an hour, very very sweaty. BO sweaty. Then it went mega sweet. Now it is better, it's kind of settled into Avon Moonwind but not quite! It won't be going on the FB list, that's for sure!

I love loads of aftershave summertime- especially the old 70s and 80s ones. Kouros, Antaeus....make me want to run after the wearers and snog them. Blush Grin

slinkysaluki · 23/11/2016 18:32

Sorry to butt in just had to comment on Vintageperfumistas post re Year of the Cat....love that song.

I don't kniw much about perfumes but I just bought Fan Di Fendi Leather, from All beauty coz it was a bargain price and sounded like my kind if perfume, it's much sweeter than I expected but with a definite leathery dry down, quite unusual. I am drawn to Oriental type perfumes. I tried L'Artisan Perfumers Amber but was very disappointed with it, I gave it to my MIL.

VintagePerfumista · 23/11/2016 18:34

You must try Cuir Cordoba if you haven't! It's a-mazing leather.

A gerzillion times nicer than Chanel Cuir de Russie (IMO)

You have excellent music tastes! Grin

slinkysaluki · 23/11/2016 18:36

Why thank you Vintage. Just seen your post about Fendi Theorema, one if my faces but where did you get it I thought it was no longer

slinkysaluki · 23/11/2016 18:38

Favourites not faces Hmm
