Continuing from the previous thread. It's always so lovely to see new posters come and talk perfume. Everyone is welcome. Come and tell us your SOTD ( scent of the day) or ask us anything perfumey. Someone will know the answer! Get stuck in and get sniffing. You'll find no snobbery here!

SotD Coco EdP.

Sprayed on sparingly, then scrubbed off with a tissue so that just a hint remains.

BaronessBomburst · 17/11/2016 15:31

SOTD yesterday and today was/ is PP Koko Shanelle.
Yesterday with 80's style bright purple eye make-up, and today with electric green. Grin

My Coromandel decant still hasn't arrived. It was posted over two weeks ago. I'm starting to worry.

PinkissimoAndPearls · 17/11/2016 19:04

I wish I could wear Jo Malone and Library of Fragrance as I love the smells in the bottles but there is something evil in my skin that makes them smell like Dettol sadly not Zoflora which would be okay actually

I have ordered the PP dupe of Poison Hypnotic, I am feeling a little fragile ATM so something warm and sweet (but hopefully not pink and sugary!) sounds good.

NotAMammy · 17/11/2016 19:45

Thanks anotherpinkiepiestory and madmomma I think I'm going to spend a few hours wafting around the perfume department and sniffing everything.

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 17/11/2016 20:17

Wondered if there was room for another to join the thread? I'm a big fan of oriental and gourmand scents but am slowly expanding my repertoire and enjoying lots of new fragrances. My scent of the day is 4160 Tuesdays Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters which smells absolutely divine.

didireallysaythat · 17/11/2016 21:19

AnotherPinkie thanks for the advice - I'll take a look.

Of the two, I wear LE's botanical 15 the most - all her other scents don't work for me (one whiff and it's a massive headache plus slight nausea).

Quite like green tea tea fragrances though - any suggestions oh wise ones ?

user1471503992 · 17/11/2016 21:33

I tried Chergui for the first time today and oh my! This is gorgeous! Honey and smoke and rose and incense and hay. I wandered into Jenners and tested it thanks to you vixens and I love it.

Baroness did you order Coromandel from the Scottish Etsy seller? Mine hasn't come either, I enquired and she said it must have been lost and promised to send more and that was a week ago now.

CoffeeCoffee Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters got me complimented twice at work, which never happens. It's a bit fruity for me, but it clearly smells good to other people!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/11/2016 00:08

didi you cant go wrong with elizabeth arden green tea and all the flankers if you like green tea. can usually be found pretty cheaply as wellw hich is an added bonus. I bought two of the flankers for under a fiver each and both are lovely and refreshing, i know one of them is the cherry blossom on but i cant remember what the other one is

VintagePerfumista · 18/11/2016 07:03

Hmm, I messaged the Scottish Etsy seller only yesterday to see if she would send multiples as she did last time, I'll see what she replies...it's beginning to sound a bit odd isn't it?

Chanel 19 for school do last night, Miss Dior originale this morning.

Rooting round the internet, Etsy is definitely cheaper for decants and many other perfumey things than ebay, if only for postage costs. Obviously this is negated if you don;t receive the juice!

OCSockOrphanage · 18/11/2016 09:06

The classic green tea is Bvlgari's Eau Parfumee au The Vert, by JC Ellena, which kickstarted the genre and remains one of the best. It's a favourite and the only scent I've repurchased in full sizes. It's a spring summer love for me though if I worked in an office, I'd wear it most of the time as it's so light and stays close. Much less keen on the Extreme version.

Pondering SoTD, but Chergui is looking tempting prompted by the reminder of how good it is a few posts back. Thanks for the nudge.

FrustratedFrugal · 18/11/2016 14:26

SOTD Coromandel - gourmand perfection.

Last night, I dabbed on some Love and Tears By Kilian.
He has the best names doesn't he.
Not to mention PR poses...

Lovely, friendly perfume thread continued- Come and discuss all your fragrant foibles!
FrustratedFrugal · 18/11/2016 14:28

Fingers crossed that the lost Coromandel decant arrives swiftly!
If someone at the local post office smells really good, you know what happened

BaronessBomburst · 18/11/2016 19:34

Yes, I ordered from the Scottish seller.....
I presume I'm insured on PayPal. Never had to claim. Confused

AgeingArtemis · 18/11/2016 20:26

Is scentsamples the genuine fragrance? I can't afford a full bottle of some stuff but I could stretch to 20ml

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 19/11/2016 11:03

Kilian looks like my kind of guy! Subtle and unassuming!
For green tea, I second Elizabeth Arden and l'occitane one. Both so lovely in hot weather didireally.
Like the sound of library of fragrance gingerbread one and I do have Boots points!
Sotd Fragonard one in sun bottle, can't remember name. Covered myself in it and now can't smell a thing. Seemed to start nice though!

VintagePerfumista · 19/11/2016 13:25

Sotd Miss Dior again (because I haven't had a shower and wore same jumper as yesterday to school!)

Did the Nose diagnostic again and ordered the samples. I put Vent Vert, Diorella and Cuir Cordoba in as my 3 perfumes (what a holy mishmash) and it is sending me:

Aether- Rose Alcane (never heard of either the house or the perfume Blush)
JHAG Anyway
Odin Sunda 1
Kilian Bamboo harmony
Mark Buxton Black Angel.

It says I like aldehydes (no shit Sherlock) florals (er, only if I don't know that's what they are!) and woods.

Anyone have any opinions on what I am about to receive?

OCSockOrphanage · 19/11/2016 14:30

Scent samples are selling the original juices, artemis.

Good idea to update, VIntage. According to the rubric in my JHAG sample kit, Anyway is "a floral citrus musky nonchalant" scent. Main ingredients are Green Lime, hedione, and musk -- . The opening is a bit like lemonade (and doesn't go with the Chergui I am properly wearing at all). I loved Black Angel, which was also a Nose sample. Maybe time to update the diagnostic!

VintagePerfumista · 19/11/2016 14:37

Also ordered some other Nose samples, 2 sample sets from Baroness's Skins website, and 10 separate samples from them too.

someone needs to remove my credit card

VintagePerfumista · 19/11/2016 14:38

And have just found this..www.quirkyfinds.com/ which will give me hours of fun this afternoon!

BaronessBomburst · 20/11/2016 09:45

I'm down to a millimetre of Incense Rose and all my other Tauer samples are finished. I'm sitting on my hands trying not to go mad ordering more samples from him. Keep reminding myself that much as I love, love, love LADDM and Une Rose Chypree, I hated, hated, hated Phi and Lonesome Rider.

SOTD yesterday was Hermes Une Soie du Caleche just to confirm it's not for me. Same opinion; goes on like soap, then smells like a vase of lillies in desperate need of the water changing, then smells pleasant, pretty, very classic, but totally unremarkable.

DS has been sniffing his favourite sample card for over a week now and is asking for Dior Poison for Men for Christmas. I suppose I could look on eBay. Grin

BaronessBomburst · 20/11/2016 10:45

I am very confused. There is no Poison Pour Homme. What has DS fallen in love with?
It was definitely in the men's section, in a round, dark coloured bottle (green?) and I'm sure it said Poison in silver letters with either "pour homme" or "for men" underneath. It certainly smells like Dior and something from the Poison range.
We'll have to go back now on Monday to find out........

Five2ate · 20/11/2016 10:54

I have a perfume dilemma. Over the past couple of years I have been going off my usual scents, they keep smelling sweeter and sweeter to the point of being sickly (to me). Where do I start trying to find something new? I don't want anything too heady (e.g. Poison) but would like something a bit more grown up, maybe something tobacco based? I could go to a big deperatment store but have no idea which ones to try and doesn't your nose get overwhelmed after sniffing 3 or 4?

I have been wearing DKNY Be Delicious, Marc Jacobs Daisy and Oh Lola and a rose scented one by Juliette has a Gun.

Where shall I start? I know nothing!

PinkissimoAndPearls · 20/11/2016 11:23

Oh vintage that website! Envy You are such an enabler. I am looking longingly at www.quirkyfinds.comapp/module/webproduct/goto/m/m4bd389472863bd5d

baroness could it be Fahrenheit? Thats Dior and a dark bottle I think?

five there are experts on this thread, I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me can help Grin Have you tried the Nose Fragrance recommendation upthread, you put your fave scents in and it recommends ones for you? The Fragrantica website also has a recommend facility in a "if you like this you'll like this" kind of way...

VintagePerfumista · 20/11/2016 11:39

My 15ml auction win of old Givenchy III has been refunded. Seller has decided she doesn't send abroad. Humph. (I imagine she thinks it's worth more than the £1.85 I won it for, and she's right, but still.....)

After perusing all the sample sites yesterday I went for Cuir Cordoba (so bloody lovely and weird) yesterday evening, and PP Youth Dew for church this morning.

I had placed an order from L'Occitane (my HG moisturiser) and some perfume mini sets for dd...they all arrived yesterday and so I had a sneak sniff before putting them into Santa's box. Had forgotten how very lovely the Neroli Orchidee was.

VintagePerfumista · 20/11/2016 11:42

Hello Five! My friend who wears BeDelicious (I don't know it) also loves Boudoir and Diva.

But, yes, I'd second having a look on the "if I like, would I like...." websites mentioned above.

OMFG at the price of the L'Air du Temps! P&P! (the Perfume Parlour version is one of the best dupes I've tried, you could put some of that into a posh bottle? Grin)
