New piercing

After lots of indecision I have taken the plunge and had a daith piercing done. I love it! It's a tiny act of rebellion against being 40 and always dressing for my professional role.

I was so pleased with the speed and the fact it barely hurt at all- I will never again ask why people say you shouldn't do ear piercings with a gun and to get a needle job done. No comparison at all! Smile

I just wanted to tell someone as I haven't got anyone else to tell about it- DS looked horrified and DH isn't home yet.

Hmm...you lot and your lovely piercings have me thinking. Anyone have a surface tragus? I love this one

QueenofLouisiana · 27/09/2016 19:51

Love the wooden bits- really unusual!

look at the pretties!

i may have popped a few things in my basket....love the moon, the hearts, the spirals....

HappyAxolotl · 28/09/2016 19:54

Ohh love the jewellery Tondelaya! It's more in my price range too.

I have decided. I need some new metal so this Saturday - the day after payday - I am getting my antitragus pierced again. I'm going to Metalmorphosis in Hackney who are brilliant in my experience.

MotherFuckingChainsaw · 28/09/2016 23:09

Popped into the new tattooist today, they have a piercer and he has availability....

Watch this space

(Jewel in the barbell or not?)

HappyAxolotl · 28/09/2016 23:19

It's a sign MotherFuckingChainsaw how much clearer could it be? You need a new decoration!

And YES to jewels.

MotherFuckingChainsaw · 28/09/2016 23:25

Yup, it's a sign

He seemed to have quite a bit of experience piercing for migraines too...

Will post a pic :)

SerenDippitee · 29/09/2016 18:52

Thanks for that link, Tondelay. I've wanted a tiny barbell with pearls at each end for ages for my helix but haven't found anything appropriate. I'm going to try a 6mm rose gold labret with a faux pearl instead.

Coincidentally, a friend has had her tragus pierced with a gorgeous little diamond at Maria Tash at Liberty this week. I am Envy.

Someone said to me the other day that because I have no hair if I had my daith pierced I would look like a lesbian :(
So I'm getting it done in Saturday!

QueenofLouisiana · 29/09/2016 20:00

Confused amazing the ideas people have- both about piercings and lesbians!

SkyRabbit · 29/09/2016 20:25

I've got a conch and a forward helix amongst other things. Conch healed super quick tbh and between them they hold my earphones in Grin

JinkxMonsoon · 29/09/2016 21:49

God forbid anyone should mistake you for a lesbian raspberry, I mean how awful Hmm

raspberrysuicide · 29/09/2016 22:32

Exactly! I mean wtf...
Some people have some very odd ideas

Oldraver · 29/09/2016 23:23

Oooh look that website had just one I liked left in Aquamarine...my favourite jewel colour

QueenofLouisiana · 30/09/2016 06:53

It's definitely fate raver! Did you buy it?

I plucked up the courage and went to a piercer near us. Lovely guy but all the jewellery he uses looked huge and would fill the whole of the inside of my ear. I said I wanted a smaller hoop and he said he wouldn't use anything smaller initially because the piercing needs to heal straight and too much of a curve could cause lumps and bumps. He wouldn't recommend changing the jewellery until it's had a year to heal. He also said it would be impossible to use ear buds with a daith piercing - until it's healed and a smaller piece of jewellery could be used.

It all seems to contradict everyone's experiences here and has put me off a bit! Confused

HappyAxolotl · 01/10/2016 12:30

Today is the day! Nervous but well up for it! Grin

QueenofLouisiana · 01/10/2016 18:46

lindt the hoops do have to be a reasonable size to allow for the swelling, the piercer doesn't want it restricted by a tight hoop. Although they look a bit big, they really aren't once they're in. If you want to change the hoop in a few months you should find the piercer will do it- they are right to recommend you don't yourself for a year due to cartilage healing time. I don't wear ear buds, so I didn't ask about those. Could you ask to see a photo of a piercing with the hoop size he suggested?

Happy how did you get on?

raspberrysuicide · 01/10/2016 21:28

Got it done! Was surprised at how easy it was and didn't hurt as much as I thought.
Got a ring with a ball but will change to a pretty heart shaped as soon as I can.
Probably get a helix piercing next on the other ear :)

Sorry it's a bit blurry.

And I don't think I look like a lesbian either ;)

New piercing
CaptainBumpALot · 01/10/2016 21:36

Rasp.. I am also follicly challenged (through bastarding alopecia) and had my daith pierced this past week. Feckin love it Grin

IAmTheWhoreOfBabylon · 01/10/2016 21:55

I had my daith done about 3 months ago.
I have a jewel horseshoe in at the moment
I have to go back to the piercer to get it changed
Can anyone change it themselves?
I would like a ring but she only has spring loaded rings, can you get them with a screw on ball?
Although I had it for migraine relief I love it and am considering a tragus too

raspberrysuicide · 01/10/2016 21:56

Yes I have bastarding alopecia too x

Oldraver · 01/10/2016 22:47

Yes Queen it has arrived already. Ii is quite small and delicate..I fear maybe too small for my fat ears and I have just spent an age trying to get the thing in...I could get the post in from the back but couldn't screw the little ball on. Will have to wait till OH's tiny hands finish work

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/10/2016 23:07

Slides into thread....

I've promised DD that I'll take her to MM in London before Christmas to let her discuss a cartilidge piercing then if she/they are happy , book it for her.
(She says the school are ok and loads of other pupils (Yr 10) have them)
She already has lobes x2 L&R (had a 3rd but it kept getting a lump so she took it out, which obviously she'll need to consider and be adviced on)
She wants a tiny hoop, I've suggested titanium.
Any advice here?
I've also considered a tiny piercing for myself (tragus or daith) but she's judgey (and I suspect Envy ) that I could go out tomorrow and have it done and no-one would care Grin. But I'm 50 so , maybe not.
