New piercing

After lots of indecision I have taken the plunge and had a daith piercing done. I love it! It's a tiny act of rebellion against being 40 and always dressing for my professional role.

I was so pleased with the speed and the fact it barely hurt at all- I will never again ask why people say you shouldn't do ear piercings with a gun and to get a needle job done. No comparison at all! Smile

I just wanted to tell someone as I haven't got anyone else to tell about it- DS looked horrified and DH isn't home yet.

Pretty!
I want mine done for my birthday. In one ear I have my tragus and top bit done, the other ear looks a little bare...

Psyhke · 24/09/2016 13:53

My tragus has been fine, bar the odd time I catch my earphones and haul them out. Get a bit sore for a day. Nipple piercing on the other hand has been a nightmare and keep bumping the helix one I got done last week.

Classy!? Piercings do not look classy! In face "classy piercing" is a great example of an oxymoron.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 24/09/2016 17:04

so glad you said that poppy ....I'll whip mine out right aways to avoid your fury. Does it make you feel good to be so rude?

I have a rook piercing...almost one year old. I am very classy.

GloriousSlug · 24/09/2016 17:05

Ooh I love a good piercing thread! I got my right rook and left conch done yesterday... I've now got a conch piercing on both sides, neither hurt to get done and the right conch has healed beautifully! (the rook piercing is hurting today though, won't be getting another one of those!!)

Nice one op, have you got any more planned? It's addictive!

Psyhke · 24/09/2016 17:11

There's always one Hmm Why come onto a piercing thread to say that. Don't like them, don't get them yourself.

Totally addictive Glorious, I'd have loads if they didn't take so long to heal.

LolaStarr · 24/09/2016 17:14

poppy what the hell is wrong with you?! This is the second time I've seen you commenting on a thread with a nasty opinion clearly just trying to wind people up... If you hate piercings so much, don't bother clicking on a thread about them. Simple.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 24/09/2016 17:20

They cannot be classy, by definition. Think about it. I could not actually believe anyone would describe them as such.
Edgy - yes if you want that look but not classy.
IMO

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 24/09/2016 17:23

LolaStarr-
Winding people up? Don't be silly. I am entitled to my opinions, however.
I put them in the same category as tattoos. They are just awful - even the ones some think are "tasteful".

In fact...

winchesterfan · 24/09/2016 17:49

Poppy, I must be the un-classiest person around then with 4 tattoos, 3 piercings and...shock horror...I paint my nails bright, glittery colours and usually paint my ring finger a different colour!!!
Halo

LolaStarr · 24/09/2016 18:09

winchester me too. But honestly I'd rather be 'unclassy' than the sort of person who judges others on the way they look Hmm

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 24/09/2016 20:40

winchesterfan:

Yikes!

lostscot · 24/09/2016 20:51

I quite fancy daith piercing especially if it would help my headaches but I'm such a wimp!

LetsJunglyJumpToIt · 24/09/2016 21:09

Does tragus hurt? I really want it done but I'm such a wimp!

Psyhke · 24/09/2016 21:15

Mine didn't lets but they used a numbing spray. Helix was done without the spray and it hurt, it's quick though. Maybe worth checking out if they use it or not.

QueenofLouisiana · 24/09/2016 21:21

lostscot my daith piercing really didn't hurt- just a sharp scratch and it was done. It's a bit sore right now as I've just salt water cleaned it, but it hasn't even niggled all day.

I got mine done today! Been dreaming about it for months but could never go because of OH working and me always having the children. Today was the first opportunity in ages so I did it! I was so scared but it really was ok, and I love it 😊. To me it felt very similar to a Tragus piercing, a hard pinch and then fine. Once they'd removed the needle and sorted the hoop there was no pain at all.

I had my tragus piercing stretched a bit as the hole had got really small where I was wearing the wrong stud for so long. And to be honest that one is hurting more than the new Daith piercing, which actually isn't even hurting a little bit.

I'm looking forward to getting a heart or a star hoop thingy in once it's healed up a bit. Love the pictures upthread ☺️. And I also keep stealing 'accidental' glances whenever I can!

Bore off Poppy. The thread title is pretty obvious and wasn't asking for opinions, if you don't like piercings then don't go on a piercing thread.

UnderslungBowlingBall · 24/09/2016 21:53

Poppy
You wear exclusively clip-ons then?

QueenofLouisiana · 24/09/2016 22:14

caken do we get a photo? I want to see what everyone else is wearing.

I have daith, nose and tragus piercings and I'm planning a rook soon. The tragus is an absolute nuisance and I might well remove it. I do like my piercings and I'm aware that they aren't for everyone.

I really don't care if I'm not considered 'classy', it really isn't something I aspire to or think about. I'll happily leave the 'classy' for people who find that kind of thing important.

lostscot · 24/09/2016 22:32

Mmm maybe something to do before the big 4 0 which is quickly approaching!

WhatamessIgotinto · 24/09/2016 22:34

Ah Poppy, I think you know you're just being bitchy. A little disingenuous to say otherwise.

Moogletea · 24/09/2016 22:40

Had my daith done a few weeks ago. Hoping it will help with migraines. Got to say I found it painful - took a few attempts to get
It in the right place - think I must have a funny ear Smileseems to be healing nicely

New piercing
QueenofLouisiana · 24/09/2016 22:57

Moogletea I wonder if the discomfort was linked to the headaches? I had mine done for effect, not medical stuff. However, I've had acupuncture and when the needle got to a tender bit I really felt it. The other needles were no problem.
