New piercing

After lots of indecision I have taken the plunge and had a daith piercing done. I love it! It's a tiny act of rebellion against being 40 and always dressing for my professional role.

I was so pleased with the speed and the fact it barely hurt at all- I will never again ask why people say you shouldn't do ear piercings with a gun and to get a needle job done. No comparison at all! Smile

I just wanted to tell someone as I haven't got anyone else to tell about it- DS looked horrified and DH isn't home yet.

I've had a tragus and conch in the last 9 months or so. Tragus took a while to heal but no problems now - the conch was great, didn't hurt at all, and can't feel it when I sleep on it.

I did swap the labret for a ring and ouch, that hurts! Can't sleep on that so have swapped it back.

I want a forward helix next.

Sorry I managed to post dupes!

HappyAxolotl · 25/09/2016 19:06

Yeah, the pierced people are here! Grin
Boo, I read this thread right when I have the urge for some new steel! Sad

QueenOfLouisiana, your beaded ring is gorgeous. Where did you buy it?

I used to have my antitragus pierced but then about a week later I got a job where I was audio-typing all day and sadly the piercing didn't survive. I often think of getting it redone.Though I also fancy having a couple in my ear helix, and maybe the tragus itself...

I also had an intimate piercing at one point but had to retire it as the ring was starting to migrate. I keep thinking of getting a similar but different one but haven't yet plucked up the courage to go through the pain again! Shock

QueenofLouisiana · 25/09/2016 19:10

I'd agree that my daith piercing has been much easier than my helix (years ago, done with a gun)- no comparison really. I slept on the new piercing last night, which I rarely managed with my helix. I took the helix out after a few months as I got fed up with waking up whenever I rolled over.

Oh GrimDamnFanjo why did I ignore your advice and google BVLA? Now I want lots more piercings to hang pretty things in!

I notice nothing has a price on it though.

QueenofLouisiana · 25/09/2016 19:24

Happy that was one of the choices in the piercing place I went to. I liked this one and a rose gold with 3 diamonds, that would be the one I swap to later I think.

Thanks for all the advice, looks like I will be getting the daith then!

QueenofLouisiana · 25/09/2016 19:44

mother come back and show us a photo! I'm really enjoying looking at all the different ideas. Who knew there were so many options?

I really want a daith piercing. On the other ear to the photo I just have two lobe piercings so I think it would look good on that side. But my ears are always and inexplicably a bit red so I've begun to get a bit paranoid that they draw attention for the wrong reasons!

So it looks like the daith might be the way to go. I think that and the helix look great, the daith looks so painful though! Like it has so much skin to go through is it tricky to keep clean? I expect it catches less than a helix on hair and things?

QueenofLouisiana · 25/09/2016 20:59

It really didn't hurt! So quick that I didn't have a chance to register any pain. Honestly, the sting from the salt when I clean it hurts more!
It feels a bit tight at the moment so I think it has swollen a bit (I was warned it would happen and told to get a decent size ring to allow for it).

Even with that in mind, it's less uncomfortable than the gun piercings I've had.

This thread has inspired me to put a ring back in my (very old) helix piercing. I had it done when I was 15 and I can leave jewellery out for years but it doesn't close up Grin

nursepearl · 25/09/2016 21:46

Queen your ring looks so pretty, my local place only offers thick steel looking rings which might be practical but doesn't look very feminine, oh dilemmas! It does look like it would be nicely tucked away and easy to sleep in.

GrimDamnFanjo · 25/09/2016 21:51

Queen BVLA only sell to piercers - mine are rose gold [although they photographed yellow]. They start from about £70 IIRC.
My piercer is Nicole at Love Hate Social Club and they stock them, also Holier Than Thou in Manchester.
I'm nearly doe with healing so contemplating another, I've seen a cute rose gold lotus flower ;)

Psyhke · 26/09/2016 10:30

That BVLA jewellery is gorgeous.

Yep definitely daith mother. I've only had my helix for over a week and can't count the amount of times I've knocked it. Or the dc giving me hugs. It's a bit of a pita already. Kinda glad I didn't get the scaffold/industrial I had contemplated now.

Lindt70Percent · 26/09/2016 12:33

I'm so tempted to get this done but I am worried about the pain!

noshit, where did you get your small, silver hoops? I've been looking for something like that for ages. I know it sounds ridiculous, but small, plain hoops seem to be hard to find.

raspberrysuicide · 26/09/2016 17:10

I'm getting my daith pierced on Saturday. I really love the little heart rings you can get x

noshit · 26/09/2016 17:18

Lindt70Percent, the silver hopes (lobe) came from Amazon.

Lindt70Percent · 26/09/2016 18:19

Thanks noshit.

Still plucking up the courage for the daith piercing. I've just accepted a job having been self-employed for 9 years. It's not a job I particularly want, in fact it's a real step backwards, but I'm just having to accept that I'm no good at being self-employed. For some reason the piercing would be some sort of small rebellion about that. Makes no sense!

QueenofLouisiana · 26/09/2016 22:41

Lindt it makes perfect sense. Mine is purely a small act of rebellion: I'm 40, dress conservatively, do a job which is never going to be considered exciting or glamorous and have been happily married for 17 years.
I just wanted something a little less ordinary, a little "edgy" (I've never been called that before- thanks Polly!), a little more in keeping with my heavily disguised wild side.
It still makes me smile when I catch a glimpse!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 27/09/2016 18:23

dooooo it Lindt!! I did mine last year...I thought about having my tragus done a couple of years ago, but dd got to 18 and beat me to it and it felt a little weird then

anyhoo, last year I was 50 and had some birthday money from the ILs burning a hole in my pocket so I got my rook pierced....and I love it!

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 27/09/2016 18:33

This is quite an old picture, but here are my ears :)

I want to add a double helix to my right ear, haven't got round to it yet though. I also have a ring in my nose and one in my lip

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 27/09/2016 18:38

I have many tattoos too

Oldraver · 27/09/2016 18:52

This thread has made me put my tragus ring back in...I've recently bougtht a few new rings but cant for the life of me get them to 'fix' ie can get the ring in no problem but cant close the ring. I think I need to go back and get a piercer to do it for me.

I've lost a couple of piercings over the years for one reason or another and would like them re-done...I'm unsure of the nipple piercing as I felt in never healed...now I'm most;y braless maybe that would help
