I'm sure we could rustle up an article in that, complete with Daily Mail 'surprised and pained' face Shock

motherinferior · 04/10/2016 14:43

It's only a guess based on your speciality and various e-newsletters about who is going where. Am doubtless completely wrongWink

Lalsy · 04/10/2016 14:52

I am too (Rose's reading).

I have the honour of having worked on publications related to those in that round of Have I Got News For You. Trade conferences were extremely odd and as one of the few women I got asked to loads of drinks where the men would get plastered and arsey but if I so much as forgot some suit's name I would get heckled and I had to be polite to the sods to get stories. Pah. Glad I don't have to do that any more.

herbaceous · 04/10/2016 15:08

I did some freelancing on Plastics and Rubber weekly. A friend used to work on Caged and Aviary Birds.

motherinferior · 04/10/2016 15:42

I have always yearned to write for the Fish Fryers' Gazette.

herbaceous · 04/10/2016 16:07

I had an interview for the news ed post on British Baker. I was sub editor on Advanced Composites Engineering. .

FleshEmoji · 04/10/2016 17:12

Where is Rose's reading?

Skeptics last night was good, but we didn't get to stay for questions as we'd outlived the dog's patience. Yes, we are insane - we took the dog along. We're out tonight - friends passed on tickets to Jools Holland, so thought two nights in a row for the poor mutt stuck at home a bit much. We're usually in every night watching Great British Menu so this is quite an unexpected groovy treat.

motherinferior · 04/10/2016 17:18

Out two nights running!? I may die of envy as I slump in front of the telly again.

I am doing a piece on initiatives/projects that are making it possible for people with dementia to enjoy life - and for their partners/friends to join in too. Not the reminiscence or therapeutic stuff but things like dementia-friendly cinema showings and theatre performances and so on. Found some art appreciation sessions in museums. And one-off football and cricket matches. And a mainstream library that's been redesigned to be friendly to people with dementia too. Fascinating.

bigTillyMint · 04/10/2016 17:27

Sounds good MI - you must give us a linky when it's done.

Here I have picked up 2 parcels and DD's mended laptop (but have yet to pay the £££ billSad) and will be ferrying DS to train for footy before collapsing on the sofa, I hope.

Collymollypuff · 04/10/2016 18:26

Brilliant, MI - make sure it's all in place in my area pretty soon. Seriously, that TV prog about dementia with Angela Rippon had some rays of optimism in it. Maybe we crepeys can all stagger round together enjoying what's on offer in our later years. Smile Hugs to those with aged parents not enjoying it atm, though. Sad

Lalsy · 04/10/2016 18:37

So interesting MI.

Dd is about to start volunteering with such a scheme. Now her third enhanced DBS check since June has come through. Ds has also had to apply for a dbs for his part time job. Do we get a prize?

Molly, how are you doing? And Rudy of course you are missing ds but I hope he is having a good time.

motherinferior · 04/10/2016 18:38

Yes, what's interesting about this piece is that it's not about stuff that could make you better, but about making life better. There's also some initial pilot work being done on couple relationships when one partner has dementia.

Sometimes I really do enjoy my job.

hattymattie · 04/10/2016 18:44

Still not caught up - although I fear my weekend has - am tired and grouchy today.

I actually thought those magazines on HIGNFY were made up!

DS has unexpectedly got the part of Danny in the school production of Grease - now he's soiling himself and says he only wanted a small part. Am also feeling cross with DS as he's faffed around on the computer and left the room when the news and a feature on Aleppo through the eyes of a child came on. I do feel he ought to be making some attempt to self educate at his age.

There is something wrong with my comp as I cannot open any links which is very annoying.

Flesh - would love to see Jools Holland.

Rose - best of luck for the play reading.

bigTillyMint · 04/10/2016 19:05

So did I Hatty Grin

My DM actually didn't say she wanted to die even once when I spoke to her on Sunday morning so I think the meds are perhaps working better now. And her house is sold, hurrah!

Collymollypuff · 04/10/2016 19:53

I had a big wobble today, but then dh got a text from dd asking us to take the dog and an old printer to her this weekend. So we'll be able to see how she's doing - fine, according to FB. You must come on the next walk, Lalsy! Thanks for asking. Smile Mainly I am just so tired. Confused

Collymollypuff · 04/10/2016 19:54

Oh, well done re the house, BTM - I'd missed that! Houses are very slow to shift round here atm, so you did really well.

bigTillyMint · 04/10/2016 20:00

WTF is House Doctor for real? DD and I have just boggled at the "makeover" she did. And what was her swag like? Grin

Lalsy · 04/10/2016 20:19

Oooh that's good Molly! I visited dd on Sunday (so missed the walk). Was lovely.

Good news on house BTM.

Stropperella · 04/10/2016 20:45

Knackered. Very long day again.
MRI fine. Quite relaxing in fact. The information leaflet from the hospital had me convinced that it was going to be a terribly claustrophobic experience, but I didn't find that at all. They said I could listen to Enya or Adele. I said I'd rather listen to the loud clanking of the magnet thingies.

Cremolafoam · 04/10/2016 22:38

Glad to hear it went ok Stropps. I also felt it was a bit restful after having been poked and prodded on a mixed general ward for a week.Grin hope they are able to pin point your back issues and actually help you.
Well jealous of your Jools night out FE. Hope it was as much fun as it looks on the box.

Crepes, will you prop me up next week when I am in France with mother? What was I thinking going to clear a house in four days with Mrs Difficult and no wifi? J'ai peur et je suis fatigué already.Sad

Rosebag · 04/10/2016 22:44

I'm hopeless at catching up at the moment. Have hit a major blip today re the script. Not so sexy Young Director made some additional changes which crossed the line as far as we ( me and ConS) were concerned. Trigger an hour long phone convo....deeply uncomfortable and very critical of me personally...and a lot of mansplaining. I fucking hate men at times, so I do. After an hour of argy bargy and many tears from me (stifled, hidden..."I've got a bit of a cold"), we reached an uncomfortable cease fire and called a truce with compromises on each side. What a horrible day it's been. DH has been trying to be kind and has done a load of stuff for me...chores and arranging things. ConS suggested tramadol if I couldn't sleep Confused Hmm

CointreauVersial · 04/10/2016 22:55

Glad MRI went OK, Strops - when do you get results? I remember being asked if I wanted music while I was having my nether regions sorted out in theatre, post-childbirth. I declined, but then was forced to listen to the surgeon and the nurses yacking on about their plans for the weekend for twenty minutes.

I do love all those niche trade mag titles, which sound made-up, but aren't. BF from university was editor of "Cranes Today" for a while, and also had the delights of being featured on HIGNFY.

Night out? My evening's entertainment was yet another school appointment, this one all about sixth form, and the fast-approaching delights of AS Levels, Targets, Personal Statements and the like. Half way through the talk, I was treated to a selfie from DH, posing in his DJ at some posh awards dinner in town, glass of champagne aloft. Gee, thanks. I am out on Thursday, though - a company piss up celebration, organised by yours truly, which should be fun, particularly as someone else is footing the drinks bill.

CointreauVersial · 04/10/2016 22:58

Boo, Rose. That's not fair. Try not to let him get you down.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 04/10/2016 23:28

Grrr on your behalf Rose. How dare he upset you like that - and how dare ConS let him?? (Or have I misunderstood). Don't let the bastards get you down.

Well done to the MRI survivors.

Blackduck · 05/10/2016 07:01

Rose so sorry to hear about director and being personal is not on.

Sorry having trouble catching up as busy week, no iPad and tres tired.

Today will be no fun as telling team member I can't give her the hours she wants - this will then go to appeal.....
