Thanks for all Boden advice.
I've ordered a black/white breton and the ruched skirt.

QueenCobalt · 19/09/2016 14:58

mara I bought heeled grey boots last year whichnare strictly going out only as I can't do heels in the day very well. I also bought some mole colour suede ones for day which I love but I dropped a huge blob of butter on them. Although ive pretty much managed to remove it I can still see it a bit and although other people probably wouknt notice, it will annoy me!! So the ones I've ordeed are a replacement. And no, I haven't linked them yet.

Ive had to spend money on essentials this week which I hate. Ive managed to lose 2 bras. I'm pretty sure I bought them home from holiday but I cannot find them at all so ive had to replace them. And with this turning wrather I've had to invest in some attractive waterproof cycling trousers.

SoyYo · 19/09/2016 15:25

Bernice yes that yellow velvet dress is great!
How could I have forgotten about the Boden ruched skirt? I know why because I have it on order and hasn't arrived yet so out of consciousness but a good recommendation if the reviews are anything to go by...we can compare notes dream when they finally arrive...

Stokey · 19/09/2016 16:10

I went to boarding school too SoyYo so know exactly what you mean about the friends that are like a replacement family.

I'm waiting impatiently for a Hush code... drums fingers.

Bit confused about what to wear at present. I think I want a pleated midi, some block heels and a bomber jacket to sort out my autumn gaps.

That yellow dress would look great on you Mara

So there was a fashion book someone (Shop or Fedup?) recommended earlier this year. I've got a friend's birthday this weekend and wnated to get her something. She's from Paris and quite into fashion so I thought it may be suitable, I don't want to spend too much. Does anyone know what I'm on about??

shopafrolic · 19/09/2016 19:40

I am in love with Sarah Harris at Vogue. That is all.

QueenCobalt · 19/09/2016 19:46

Do you think i could be a model with kate

QueenCobalt · 19/09/2016 19:48

shop, you could totally Rock her wardrobe

SoyYo · 19/09/2016 19:59

queenC Grin worth a try!

stokey Boarding school times eh! Best and worst of times but overall glad it made me the independent woman I am. Laborare est Orare was our school motto...guess that's why I work so hard!Hmm
On the book don't know about previous recommendations but I enjoyed reading Style Forever by Alyson Walsh its aimed at 50plus though and your DF might take offence if she's younger. An entertaining read but nothing earth shattering. You can get it on Amazon, and get a preview/read feedback, only small book and easy to post.

Now I really must go and pack for Rome, leaving first thing forecast strange, still warm but rain on Wed and sun again Thurs. I will just take carry on luggage and there are 2 dinners plus casual smart and walking shoes (team building) in the agenda. What's a girl supposed to pack!?ConfusedConfused

shopafrolic · 19/09/2016 20:01

Stokey check out my books board on Pin. Lots on there.
QueenC I am loving her style. Am pinning like a loon.

SoyYo · 19/09/2016 20:13

Warm to me (around 26C) probably Hot by British standards! Think I'll pack a light Hobbs navy mac huge on me now I've lost weight but better safe than sorrywhite jeans, white linen t for "team building" walk and silver trainers, nice khaki lace dress from White Company for evening dinner with flat black sandals. Muubaa khaki suede jacket to go with Uniglo Ines light chino work trousers/silk shirts for office. Suede jacket might be superfluous but will also suit the lace dress if eves are cool, and fit nicely under mac if required.
Sorted I hope!!Smile

SoyYo · 19/09/2016 20:18

And cross body bag on top of work Knomo laptop bag. No heels I think, they make my feet seell in the heat, and have lots of great flat leather sandals which are easy to pack (and nicely pedicured feet!)

Everyonelovessparkles · 19/09/2016 20:57

bernice my m&s leopard flats arrives today (got them delivered to my parents!) and I'm pleased with them. They're very comfortable. The pattern isn't matching but I'm not too bothered, and I would say that the toe is more almond shaped than full on round so is a little more pointy than I thought (a good thing!)

QueenCobalt · 19/09/2016 21:32

stokey I enjoyed always pack a party dress-amanda brooks and champagne supernova (can't remember who wrote it). Ive read various others recommended on here but can't remember what they were menopausal brain

Drywhitethanks · 19/09/2016 21:59

Lurking.

Drywhitethanks · 19/09/2016 22:00

No fashion news...but it's only Monday Grin

VivaVegas · 20/09/2016 07:20

Morning!
Early start this morning for a day of meetings. It was dark when I hit up, first time for ages that's happened.
All in black today, brightened up by the lovely Top Shop animal print block heels, still a firm favourite!
Ordered these grey shoes with the M &S 20% off that was around. Tried them on in store last week and they are really nice and will work well for work once opaques are back on! One of my Winter needs are some black biket(ish) boots so also ordered these black boots. Not too sure if the heel is too chunky as my current old bikers are flatter but with free collection and returns nothing to lose by trying them.
One of my meetings is near One New Change so hoping for time for a quick look at Cos and Banana Republic (at least!) if I can squeeze it in.
Like some of you my sorting is ongoing with about a quarter of my storage gone through and things not required put in charity bags and what's left all tidied. Still a way to hi but doing a bit each week has proved less daunting which had meant it's actually got done.

Stokey · 20/09/2016 09:55

Thanks for the book recommendations, I think the one I was thinking of was Champagne Supernova.

But I've gone for the Vogue 100 which looks good. May have to leaf through before I give it to her!

I watched the second part of the Vogue doc last night. It was slightly let down by the tone of the journalist I thought. I understand why they did it that way, but it seemed like he was trying to create more tension than there was. I did love Lucinda Chambers. Elegant, quirky and eccentric all rolled up in one.

shopafrolic · 20/09/2016 16:07

Anyone have Grazia and know if the Whistles code happened?

VivaVegas · 20/09/2016 16:14

Shop I had a look in Smiths earlier but the one in there was just a huge bumper fashion edition. It didn't mention Whistles on the front so I assumed not.
ASOS do have 25% off some Whistles stuff in a promotion incase what you want is on there.

maradesbois · 20/09/2016 16:28

Afternoon,

Stokey book sounds good. Am living the fashion good life myself today, by accident! Stopped for a coffee in a nice place in soho (where we had drinks before the evening mu a couple of years ago for those of you who were there) and its full of between show fashion week people hanging out.

Met a friend for lunch earlier then went to APC and ended up buying this trench. Know its ££ but half the price of Burberry and will practically pay for itself in cpw. I love, love APC this season, particularly this bag. It looks pink here but is bordeaux. Also love the classic half moon bag, how are you getting on with yours justa? Need to remind myself am technically unemployed though.

SoyYo loved the velvet comments, thank you. Also wanted to mention my slimming world loss target is exactly the same as yours - 1st 12lbs. As of yesterday am 11lbs down, trying for another half stone by black tie event and the rest before December, can't bring myself to even refer to the C word in September.

Shop share your love of SH, particularly of her hair. She seems so nice too. Was trying to work out how she rocks the grey and conclude as follows: olive skin, great quality hair - thick and lush and always well groomed. Would love not to colour when I go grey, seems like such a faff.

shopafrolic · 20/09/2016 18:16

Thanks for looking Viva
Mara she has also allegedly never dyed it. I think that makes a massive difference. I would love to rock grey hair (am 70-80% grey now). Think I'll chop it all off and go grey for my 50th.
New dining table has arrived. I've had a massive shift around of furniture moving sofas from one room to another. Hard work solo! Feels like a new house.

libertydoddle · 20/09/2016 18:20

It's amazing the difference moving furniture makes shop.

Love your new trench mara. I didn't realise there is an APC shop in London. Where is it?

libertydoddle · 20/09/2016 18:24

shop you could totally rock grey short hair. I'm not too grey yet but intend to follow my grandmother's example of having people talk in amazement at her funeral about the fact she never went grey!!! Her hair dresser stayed quiet!!!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 20/09/2016 18:34

i've always figured i'd go grey the same way my Mum did which was in streaks but i haven't had a single grey hair yet although my younger sisters have and they are 3 years younger than me. i'm sure my time will come eventually but i am now trying to leave my hair and grow the last dye on it out. ive dyed over the really bright red with brown and its much tamer now and is a decent enough colour match to my natural hair now that i feel okay about not dying it any more and just letting it grow

Dreamqueen · 20/09/2016 18:56

Lovely trench Mara & love the bag too. My nephew love APC. I've not got anything from there but might have a look next time in town. (forgetting about my self imposed frugal budget!)

When it happens, I plan to go grey also. In youth I was happy to dye hair every colour invented (70's punk!) but don't fancy all the faff with roots etc.

Hope you have many happy meals at your new table Shop

On Thursday I'm going trekking to Dover St with the Pistols. Went out again in them today & zip ended up coming down. Sad it's guaranteed that it won't happen when I'm demonstrating this in the shop though.
