blouse. Utterly love the colours and print although the sleeves are a little annoying. Need to somehow alter them.

AmberNectarine · 11/10/2016 23:37

Love those shoes Queen. I'd like something similar but higher Jimmy Choo Lucy

Took delivery of a fitted leather midi skirt from ASOS today. Really like it; great fit on the waist. Think I will wear a lot for work. Also this jumper in grey which is great with skinnies and my OTKs for casual. Comes up massive though, got a 6 and even that is really oversized and covers my bum (fine as that's what I wanted).

Need a big wardrobe sort out soon - some of my jumpers are past their best and I have been hanging on to things I just don't wear anymore.

OOTD was a midi zebra shirtwaister dress from topshop (saw in mag last winter, sold out, snagged on eBay this week), grey highland boots, black cashmere coat and red Furla mini bag. Loved that outfit, though the dress is super fitted with no stretch, so after lunch it felt a bit snug in the waist!

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/10/2016 08:42

blair I haven't ordered the boots yet, was going to try them on in the shop first. Annoying about the code though...

Lovely shoes queen.

Nice outfit amber.

I had a big sort out the other day as my drawers were so untidy I couldn't find anything. I only managed to consign 2 tops to the charity bag though. I think some are almost on their last legs but I'll get this winter out of them so expect I'll have a big clear out next spring.

shopafrolic · 12/10/2016 10:20

Loiters anxiously around waiting for Amber's wardrobe clear out. kidding myself that anything would fit
I want to have a sort out as well. Want to pack away the summer dresses and bring out the chunky knits. Some of my cashmere is starting to get a bit tatty after heavy wear, how long do you guys manage to get out of yours in terms of wear?

maradesbois · 12/10/2016 11:28

Morning Voguettes,

My first day of the season in tights Sad. Black opaques teamed with marni print dress and black patent flats. Feels good despite the necessary legwear.

QueenC love, love your velvet shoes, a great purchase!

Amber yes, lovely velvet choos atm too, am in town and planning to try on later today (just for fun as need to buy gold sandals).

justa my order arrived yesterday, had a try on this morning. Love the dress and am defo keeping. Think am keeping the culottes, fit is good just need to see if they work with tops currently in my wardrobe. Jumper is rubbish and going straight back. Think you made a good call sending back the shoes, they don't sound special enough.

Shop I would expect to get a few winters out of my cashmere, am still wearing some that is 5+ years old and can't bear to throw away but is past it really.

HappyGirlNow · 12/10/2016 16:29

Argh really annoyed! PayPal just emailed me to say Offive have sent me a £82 refund. No email from Office yet. I've not sent anything back so it must be the tan Lucky Charm boots that got one pair of my size back in stock. Bet their stock control system was wrong and they've gone to someone else.

Aw SO annoyed really really REALLY wanted them!

Currently sitting in the hairdressers whiling away the time.. having my hair darkened a little..

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/10/2016 16:34

Your outfit sounds nice mara. It's definitely tights weather now!

I had a nice shopping trip and got the LKB boots as well as a few other basics. blair the boots were included in the promo code but there was a loooonng list of things that weren't.

I have a dilemma voguettes. I have a wedding in December for which I already have an existing outfit that I really like. It's not going to be a 'need to impress' event so what I have already will be more than fine. However I really like this dress and with the 25% off it's a good saving. I really don't need it, but I really like it. What do I do!?!

shopafrolic · 12/10/2016 16:51

Everyone it is a beautiful dress and a good saving - if you think you'll wear it for other things and have the money then go for it. But new sensible Shop would only get it if I knew I would get the wear out of it.
I've had a huge wardrobe sort out today. Put my summer dresses and tops away in a storage bag under my bed and gone through my knitwear. Things I have learnt:

  1. I do not need another smart coat - I have plenty. There is however a gap for a long, waterproof, Barbour type coat for days in the country / dog walking. My brown Barbour coat does not suit me in the slightest so I am going to sell it along with my brown Muubaa biker jacket and put the money towards something new. What do you all wear in the way of waterproof school run stuff?
  2. Going through my knitwear, the stuff I invested in has lasted much longer than the cheap buys. The Vince chunky knit from two years ago still looks perfect, as does my purple Dagmar sweater. The GAP and Uniqlo stuff looks tatty after one year. Best to invest.
  3. There is a gap in my wardrobe for some coloured knitwear. All my knits are pretty much grey and black. I would like to get a red sweater, and an emerald / forest green sweater. Has anyone seen anything nice recently?
  4. I need to get a new pair of dark indigo jeans but am not sure these are worth spending £££ on as no matter what the brand they seem to fade at the knees - any thoughts on this?

Next job is to go through footwear and bags.
DF is still in hospital, so impatient to come home poor man. Hopefully it will be this week - I think DM will have a shock when he is back in the house after 3 weeks on her own.....

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/10/2016 17:25

That's really interesting about knitwear shop! I have some expensive cashmere which doesn't look great Chinti & Parker and Equipment I'm looking at you but I've never splurged on another type of wool. Maybe I should. Mine is all Gap, Uniqlo and J Crew. I nearly bought another 4 Tippis the other day Blush

Also good about your DF coming home soon. :)

everyone it's a beautiful dress! I'm also trying to be sensible lately so I would probably force myself to leave it if I already had a perfect outfit. I emailed LKB, because I swear the bag's not on the exclusions list.

mara my first opaques day was yesterday. It feels right!

Stokey · 12/10/2016 17:37

I saw a really nice baggy red ribbed jumper in &OS the other day Shop. I can't find it in their website but it felt like an old friend from the 90s, sort of red & black and a bit punky.

I hate how bobbly jumpers get after just one season, maybe the answer is to spend more.

Lovely dress Everyone, buy it if you think you'd wear it to other things, Christmas parties perhaps?

I did like the fish at the Tate Mara but felt you'd really need to invest hours in the exhibition to get the full feel of it. Spent about half an hour lying on the floor and was a bit non-plussed. And really wanted to love the Switch house but was so frustrated by the lifts. I need to go back to see Georgia O Keefe before the end of the month. Also finding the new colour on here annoying.

Great shoes QueenC, very you.

And loving the Ash slip ons Happy &Fedup

shopafrolic · 12/10/2016 18:05

Sounds fab Stokey - love your description Smile
Blair surprised to hear your C&P hasn't lasted. I think you have to work hard to care for cashmere. Hand was with the right detergent even if it says machine wash, and do the Marsha towel roll dry. The exception to this is uniqlo cashmere which bobbles immediately on washing and if you read the care label recommends dry clean only.
I've done well with merino wool too. The Cos knitwear that I inherited from Lib still looks good. I've got my eye on an oversized polo neck from there but am waiting for a report back on quality from the lovely Cranagh

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/10/2016 18:33

Thanks ladies. I think I'm only considering it because of the discount. I'll sleep on it!

Off out now for dinner and the drinks at the ivy cafe with my friend. OOTN is black leather skirt and black top with gold spots. I really like this outfit and it could be a contender for the MU. hopes it's not too early to think about what to wear to meet up

Well done on the wardrobe assessment shop. Hope your DM will be ok with your DF.

blair hope you get to the bottom of the discount issue.

libertydoddle · 12/10/2016 18:47

Shop I think Cos knitwear is fantastic. I still miss that oversize grey sweater!!! In fact thinking about it has persuaded me to go and buy an item I tried on there the other day and dithered about as trying not to spend too much but I definitely would get the CPW I think.

I have been very disappointed with Jigsaw knits and keep reminding myself of that every time I look at this one. Perfect shape and colours but not confident based on other items from them that it's worth the money. My Goat cardigan sets the bar for cashmere - excellent quality.

Everyone that dress is gorgeous, I'm wishing I had a wedding to justify it.

libertydoddle · 12/10/2016 18:53

Blair what's is the sizing like on the Tippi sweaters? I'm usually a medium in Uniqlo but often buy large as I like them loose fitting.

OP posts:
libertydoddle · 12/10/2016 19:12

I bought this Seasalt Janelle coat for autumn/winter Shop. Perfect playground / parks / dog walking coat. Very pleased with it. Good length too.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/10/2016 20:01

Lib I wear small in the Tippis, they are meant to be quite fitted, so would say they are true to size (they do go down to xxx-small or something haha!). I am small in Uniqlo too, and once bought a medium for a slightly looser feel.

Yeah that is how I've washed it shop. IIRC I don't think the issue was bobbles, I think it was that it seemed to stretch a bit with wear and lose its shape. Will have to get out all my knitwear and see what's what. I once bought a Cos jumper for my sister and it was lovely quality, but haven't bought for myself.

Dreamqueen · 12/10/2016 20:07

Just popping in to say that I'm glad to hear that DF is much improved Shop.
Sounds like there have been some great buys from voguettes!
I've bought a silk kaftan from my sunbed! Which should be waiting for me when I get home. My minimal wardrobe packing was just about right. I should wear everything and I'm glad I didn't skimp on the toiletries. The case going home will be much lighter Smile
Healthy eating and moderate drinking has gone completely out the window.

AdoraBell · 12/10/2016 21:16

Is anyone familiar with Burberry belts by any chance? Trying to decide what size, should it be my waist measurement, or larger?

TIA

QueenCobalt · 12/10/2016 21:31

everyone as shop says, only get it if you will wear it to other things. I'd be tempted to wear what you have and keep the money for something else.
shop I don't do cashmere so can't help you with that but I find my knitwear lasts 2 years or more (cardis more than jumpers as need less washing). As I only pay

AdoraBell · 12/10/2016 21:37

Shop glad to see that your DF is improving and should be home soon.

I recently bought cashmere sweaters from Edinburgh Wollen Mill, don't know what you think of their quality?

Have been treating myself and I have a belt, see above, sitting in it's delivery box while I work out what bleeding size will fit Confused also have a blazer that might go back. Navy blue Tommy Hilfiger that I ordered as an alternative. It's nice but I also just bought a leather jacket from Jeager, so I think Tommy is probs getting rejected.

AmberNectarine · 13/10/2016 00:36

That surprises me shop - I machine wash all my cashmere (inc Uniqlo) and have never had a problem with bobbling (save one M&S jumper which I returned).

Got an email from Harrods today to say my Highlands have dispatched. Unsurprising as I picked them up from the depot on Friday (after two delivery attempts!) Quality comms there!

Longislandicetee · 13/10/2016 00:45

Hello! just had a quick catch up on the thread. I don't wash my cashmere, I just send it to the dry cleaners and everything looks as good as new.

I am sat in a hotel bar in a me&em dress which keeps revealing my legs as it has a long slit. I can't remember if I bought it like this or the laundry trolls have been at it! The model in the picture doesn't look like shes waiting for her next hook up.Hmm.

On the plus side grasping here I am wearing my R&B shoe boots (one of my best buys ever) and my new Hermes bracelets in navy and orange. I am a bit in love with them.Grin

AmberNectarine · 13/10/2016 08:43

Morning all!

Last day of what has been an absolute bastard of a working week. Cannot wait for the weekend!

OOTD navy/black/gold tweed Zara shell top with 3/4 sleeves, black Jigsaw leather wrap mini skirt, opaques, black Chanel block heeled court shoes and leopard SL bag. Coat is black cashmere Calvin Klein number over had for 4 years now I think. Will be hard to replace!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/10/2016 10:09

Blingy I think we have the same shoe boots, and they are one of my best buys ever too. Been wearing them all this week - it's their 3rd winter - and I was contemplating seeing if they had any similar but different ones so I can get another pair Grin

People who don't have cashmere bobble issues, don't you even get bobbles under the arms where it rubs? That's the main issue with mine I think. Need to get a comb.

Adora we need links! :) I'm not sure on the belt, but would usually assume if the size is in inches then it must be waist size, and if it's a hip belt then it will be longer to compensate IYSWIM?

My OOTD is boring... Me & Em navy dress (I didn't copy you Blingy as far as I know!), opaques, shoe boots and Pieces tan obi belt.

Longislandicetee · 13/10/2016 11:26

Blair yeah we do have the same shoe boots, they're awesome aren't they? I have them in the leather and the suede. I am wearing the suede this week as they travel well. I never feel like I am wearing high heels when I wear them.

I will be wearing another me&em jersey dress today, the aubergine ruched dress that Amber introduced me too (I sensibly bought them in in 3 colours!). I think this is their 4th winter but they're fantastic, and also travel well. I don't think Me&Em have done as good a dress since.

Absolutely love that belt linked by Blair. I shall have a proper look at that later.

There is another thread on S&B about fragrance samples, I never thought of buying perfume in that size as it's totally suited to me as I like to try different perfumes, and hate having to work through an entire big sized bottle. Just found a 2ml size of jour d'hermes on eBay which for £3 is winging its way to me.
