Shop, so glad to read there's no sign of the big C but that does sound very hard. I hope your DM is doing ok too, as much as can be expected of course.

SoyYo your hair is gorgeous! My Dsis is a curly girl and goes to Mathew James in Birmingham (a long day trip!) so I will pass on the info about the London stylist, thanks!

Dry I do get what you mean but I still can't imagine you ever looking frumpy :) still, the difference is probably in making sure everything fits perfectly and is the right shape/length (true for everyone I guess)

Amber maybe if you had one you loved, you'd wear it more? Which one would you get - black?

Adora how annoying, are they sorting it for you?

Stokey · 11/10/2016 11:47

I know that feeling Happy, I'm good at throwing out but not good at not buying.

Gorgeous curls SoyYo, my youngest daughter is a bit curly, I'm hoping they start as she gets older.

Annoying about your jacket Adora, blazer and biker are world's apart.

I think SM comes up quite big Lib, definitely long in the arms. I got a small first and ended up exchanging for an XS, it's still quite baggy.

OOTD dark R&B skinnies & fluffy Hush cobalt jumper, parka for school run, it's cold!

libertydoddle · 11/10/2016 11:47

Thanks for sizing info shop. I have short arms!!! Will ponder on it.

Adora that is v annoying.

Happy when I get the 'have to have it' feeling I remind myself that there are always lovely things around and something even better will come along Smile

dry I agree with amber you are so not frumpy. But I echo your frustration. I seem to have to make a lot of effort to look good. I've always struggled with casual looks and getting older seems to make it harder. I suit 'neat and tidy' and that can look very drab or old very easily.

Stokey · 11/10/2016 11:49

Meant to say Dry you totally rock your style, not the least frumpy. Wish I could drop classic dressing like you do.

Stokey · 11/10/2016 11:50

*do not drop.

Everyonelovessparkles · 11/10/2016 12:24

I think I might be a few train stops down from you amber but still very close. It's a small world!

soyyo your hair is lovely! And well done on the slimming down and rediscovering your silk shirts. You'll be channelling Gillian anderson's character on The Fall'. Smile

adora how annoying of HOF. Hope you get the right jacket soon.

blair i saw your comment on the lk bennet thread - have you got your eye on anything? I saw these so will have a look tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to my shopping trip tomorrow, I can't remember the last time I actually went RL shopping. It's difficult with two DC in tow and at weekends we tend to do family things. Though typically, I bet I won't see anything, will get fed up of the crowds and frustrated that they don't have my size in anything I do like. Grin

shopafrolic · 11/10/2016 12:28

SoyYo you have beautiful hair :)
Adora I find HoF v hit and miss with their online service. Almost as bad as Debenhams.

shopafrolic · 11/10/2016 12:32

Dry I meant to come back the other day - you are so not frumpy with your style. You always look fab and know your style v well (but not quite as well as I know it) Wink
I've been wearing my jagger boots all morning - it's love. Super comfortable for the school run too. Nice to put the Pistols away for a while and have a change.
Interesting article in ST Style about the Vogue v blogger thing. Pandora Sykes writes well. Worth a read Mara if you have it.

maradesbois · 11/10/2016 13:44

Hello,

Shop I love Pandora's writing and Dolly Alderton's. Think they are great examples of how to combine traditional journalism whilst embracing and profiting from change. There was another good article in the FT weekend magazine by Simon Kuper, not about Vogue but rather the 'good old days' ('90s) when a broadsheet journo could earn £££.

maradesbois · 11/10/2016 13:47

The colour of my post is different Shock. Don't deal well with change!

Excuse me for piecemeal posts but on the tube and don't want to lose a big one. Your hair is gorgeous SoyYo, thanks for pics. I thought it was gorgeous in the before one too btw and had to look for a while to see which was which.

HappyGirlNow · 11/10/2016 13:53

lib that's a good way of thinking about it, I will try that. I get that 'have to have it' feeling far too often and as the money is there I just can't resist!

On that note Blush just ordered

Office burgundy loafers

Ash slip on trainers but for £50 less than this on Amazon! I always check Amazon for brands these days - they're often being sold on there much cheaper.

Nike trainers

Office platform boots - I'll really need it see/try these on in real life - not sure about the wood or the platform - a speculative buy Grin

Grey sandal or shoe boot as Office is calling them..

maradesbois · 11/10/2016 13:55

Everyone enjoy your shopping trip, think I heard there is a good tk maxx in Kingston but haven't ventured there yet. We were planning for a family trip to Richmond park on Sunday but the traffic was prohibitive.

Dry know what you mean about things taking more effort as you get older but don't think you could ever be frumpy and don't think that has any direct correlation with age. Coat shortening sounds good, the devil's in the detail and you get that spot on with your searches for the 'perfect' item.

Shop the news about df sounds cautiously optimistic, think you will all feel better and life will settle down again once there is a proper care plan in place.

Stokey how cool are the fish at Tate Modern!!! Saw your pics.

maradesbois · 11/10/2016 13:57

Adora how annoying, hope they sort it out quickly.

Now this colour change is annoying me, it's too similar to the background white and needs to stand out more.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 11/10/2016 14:15

Happy my friend has those Ash trainers, she loves them and they are really nice in real life. I think she paid £100 too. Love the office haul, I think the wooden platform could look really good.

I haven't got a colour change!

Everyone It's a bag I want to get from LKB, I will link if I order Grin Those boots are gorgeous and would go with so much.

HappyGirlNow · 11/10/2016 14:19

Aw thanks blair am excited re the trainers! And yes, I think the wooden sole on the boots could look good with/add interest to an all black outfit for example, we shall see Grin

justasecond · 11/10/2016 15:00

Hi everyone, loads to catch up on. I wrote a long post last night then lost it and went to bed early instead!
soyo beautiful curls. I am curly too but really don't look after my hair as I should.
Lib totally with you on those Nicolas kirkwood loafers! I was thinking of getting the dark green or burgundy colour but they sold out while I was dithering! I may invest in spring as I think its getting a bit cold for them now. Btw I have a 10% off code for matches that they sent me for completing a survey that you are welcome to. Not sure if it is a personalised one or not. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.
marsha love the grey block heel GR although I do really like the sage green IM boots too but maybe a bit high. Could you do burgundy boots?
mara has your uterque order arrived? loved the dress and wide trousers. I am sending back the leopard loafers as they are just a bit too masculine for me. The silver office ones are also going back. They are nice but just feel a bit meh about them.
dry your outfits always sound very chic and well put together and having met you I can't imagine you ever looking frumpy!
blair I feel a bit like I've lost my style mojo too. I think my bottom half is the problem. I am bored of skinnies and ankle boots, a look I have been wearing for the last 6 winters at least.
shop glad to hear that about your df. Those office boots are lovely btw.
happy off to check out your links!
sorry if I missed anyone

justasecond · 11/10/2016 15:03

enjoy your shopping trip everyone those boots look good.
oh and kitty Flowers for the compliment xx

libertydoddle · 11/10/2016 17:26

Thanks Justa. It was the green ones I was lusting over too and gone in my size. As you say probably better to look in spring. We're firmly into boots weather now.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 11/10/2016 17:33

Justa I was thinking of you today as am hoping to meet up with an old work colleague next week. Hope you're well lovely x

FedupNagging · 11/10/2016 18:41

Dry I was thinking about the outfit you wore to travel in on Saturday - it sounded really stylish and not in the least frumpy. It is tricky getting the balance right as you get older - the dungarees and denim boilersuits I have been trying on are a case in point. Although the ones I tried were very flattering they just didn't look right and I think it's because the style would suit someone younger. I did in fact wear jumpsuits back in the 80's so perhaps it's a trend I shouldn't be revisiting.

Shop I'm glad your df is nearer home now but it all sounds very frustrating and distressing for him. Hopefully he will settle down more when he's home.

Fab footwear purchases Happy - I have these jordy's and wear them a lot.

Shame you returned the 2 pairs of shoes Justa but no point keeping if you're not sure. I really liked both.

Enjoy your day tomorrow Everyone - lovely LKB boots.

SoYo your hair is lovely. Hope your week isn't too stressful.

Marsha have you decided what shoes/boots to go for?

HappyGirlNow · 11/10/2016 19:33

Ooh like those jordy's fedup

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 11/10/2016 21:16

Everyone did you order the boots yet? The LKB code won't work on the bag for some reason Confused I went to the terms and conditions page and it has a list of excluded products, but the bag isn't on it. Bah, might have to ring them.

AmberNectarine · 11/10/2016 22:00

That TK maxx in Kingston is great - I got my £25 rockstud sunnies and £195 Herve lever dress in there. Both were current season at the time.

I am also so happy they now have a &OS.

QueenCobalt · 11/10/2016 22:01

Hello! Life has been v hectic over the past few days-nothing in particular but I've been feeling slightly burnt out and overwhelmed by juggling everything as well as having a cold so I took some time out from the thread. I've been lurking at times but haven't looked at all links or read everything....
soy love your hair
marsha did you decide on any shoes?
dry I think we all have times when we lose our confidence and feel frumpy. Is this feeling to do with the upcoming birthday? You always look fabulous
justa im quite enjoying my skinnies and boots again.

One of the things adding to my feelings of overwhelment (is that a Word??) is the amount of crap and clutter in the house. We've been having some building work (what was meant to be a simple reskimming has turned into walls being pulled down) so we currently have a skip so I've been making the most of it and decluttering a lot of the dc stuff. I've also been sorting through my own wardrobe and trying to sell some stuff that I've lost the love for. I've made a couple of purchases-new skinnies from gap just to replace last years tired looking ones (I tend to wear v dark rinse in winter so they easily end up looking tired/faded) and I also got some from river island. A blouse from BR (shouldn't have browsed BR website whilst ordering dc stuff from gap!!) and some shoes that I fell in love with and couldn't leave the shop without!!!

QueenCobalt · 11/10/2016 22:05

shoes. I'd tried these on in blue previously (think happy also likes/has them) but this colour was true love. I was shopping with dm at the time so she bought them for my birthday next month.
