Oops, accidentally hit post rather than preview button.

Dream your hotel looks lovely. Very grey day here today so am suitably Envy

Love the sound of your plum skirt Stokey - hope you feel better soon.

One your ootd sounds fab too - I love your quirky dress sense and v disppoiunted you can't make it to the MU.

Drywhitethanks · 10/10/2016 19:39

Wow Marsha those are all stunning.

I think I've lost my fashion mojo. Can do smart/casual, smart and dos fine........I'm really worried I'm in a rut and and heading rapidly to frumpsville.

On a more positive note I may have solved my great coat search........by wearing the one I already have Blush and getting it shortened 5" to the same length as my beloved MD camel coat. Fingers crossed it looks good....could be a wise £26

Amber I woke up in the middle of the night...."7 pairs of OTK boots!!!!!How?" Did I dream that? Grin

Drywhitethanks · 10/10/2016 19:40

"Grey coat"

shopafrolic · 10/10/2016 19:58

The next size up of Office Jagger boots are perfect. Really good leather, definite keepers and make a nice change from my Pistols. Zara coat has also arrived, need to try it but I think it is good for the price, may add some shoulder pads though (is that easy?).

AmberNectarine · 10/10/2016 20:02

Dry. Nope:

3 x Stuart Weitzman
1 x 3.1 Phillip Lim
2 x Dune
1 x M&S (highland imitations from last year which I wore once).

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/10/2016 20:04

Thanks for all the show advice. I've got the day off on Wednesday so am popping into kingston for some RL shopping, so will have a look around.

Glad you enjoyed the wedding dry. Hope the tailoring of your coat works. Good thinking! I felt like I had lost my mojo a bit earlier in the year and whilst my current lifestyle and figure means I am never going to be the most fashionable out there, you ladies and S&B in general has helped me to think about what I like and what suits me as well giving me new ideas to try. I thank you but my bank balance probably doesn't Grin

Like the sound of your OOTD stokey and one.

dream hope you are having a lovely holiday.

fedup I like the link with the red shoes.

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/10/2016 20:06

Glad you like the boots shop

amber and dry Grin

FedupNagging · 10/10/2016 20:28

Forgot to link my new Charlotte Tilbury lipstick the colour is such a gorgeous raspberry - my new favourite.

Good idea to get the coat shortened Dry if everything else about it is perfect. Am pretty sure you won't be looking anything less than fab off duty either as all your purchases are lovely. It's probably because you naturally feel better in smart/semi smart clothes.

I've finally given up on the petty's and they are now on eBay. They are far too narrow, I should have sized up I think. I've been wearing the Ash jalouse for the last few days but will need to replace the pettys at some point.

AmberNectarine · 10/10/2016 20:34

Everyone - I'd class myself as something of an expert in the designer shoe arena (ahem). As a general rule they are comfier - the materials and finishing are better and the design more considered. Louboutins are the general exception to this rule! Jimmy Choo are very comfortable. I have a pair of Saint Laurent platforms which are by far my highest heels (almost 6in I think) but they cause me no pain, even when dancing all night. Obviously a thicker heel/slightly larger toe box are always more comfortable!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/10/2016 20:46

I feel like I've lost my mojo at the moment! I've bought nothing this season. I do have a down coat from phase eight on the way, but it's going to have to be perfect. Dry you could never be frumpy!! I think we're similar with struggling with dressing down. It's ok to like to be smart though I think!

Everyone if you're near kingston you must be fairly near Amber and me!

Lipstick sounds great fedup, I can really imagine that colour suiting you.

Shop good news on the boots. How is DF? :)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/10/2016 20:50

Oh and Marsha my favourite boots were the block heels too - beautiful!

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/10/2016 21:27

Thanks amber. That's a good collection!

blair I'm just down the road from Kingston and Wimbledon.

That is a lovely lipstick colour fedup. Shame about the pettys, but if you can recoup some money back towards something else then better than nothing.

Drywhitethanks · 10/10/2016 21:40

Thanks for clearing that up Amber

Blair yes, I think we are both smarter dressers but the difference is that I'm 20yrs Sad older than you. I think I'm aware but not depressed about that I'm getting on a bit and whilst I don't want to look like mutton, I'm don't want to look frumpy either. I'm generally a more classic dresser and I think, at a certain age perhaps there's a fine line between chic/elegant/classic and frumpy/old fashioned.

SoyYo · 10/10/2016 22:04

Hello just waving to you all on my own with second glass of red in Hotel bistro somewhere in Paris. WineWine
Had a tough start with M11 traffic jam at 7am..finally getting to City airport half hour before flight departure (yes really! I made it...just) and the day degenerated from there on...Sad but we won't go into that here!

I just wanted to thank you for replying to my musings. Have so enjoyed reading you and seeing all those fab shoe links! So much loveliness.

After first weekend clear out I realise I have no winter work trousers...not a single pair...nada. I am having to get rid of 9 pairs of pure wool barely worn work trousers but as its due to weight loss I can bear it Wink may need to break my ban on return to UK but I DO have plenty of tops, coats, leather and suede jackets etc. I do quite fancy a pair of leather skinnies too...but determined to stick it out without purchases as right now still on lets keep life simple campaign my brain is completely overwhelmed with work transition overlad right now
Nice things that happened on mark 1 declutter (just one wardrobe, double, more to come) is I've rediscovered my Thai silk made for me shirts that couldn't get into the last 3 years. Barely or never worn. Classic styles. 5 in total. All lush and fit better than ever so will wear to deathSmile

mara go curly! I am a committed curly i could post pics of my "before" and "after curly hairstyle if that would inspire you? One of the things i love about French style is that women here have slightly messy, never highly groomed hair.

dream wish i was there!
everyone agree with your musings on designer shoes and the interesting comments
fedup last time I went to Tilbury shop went a bit mad there!Blush tbh I wear little makeup but live the lipsticks too, nice shade and beautiful packaging

Good night x

SoyYo · 10/10/2016 22:14

dry I know EXACTLY what you mean

SoyYo · 10/10/2016 22:25

mara see before and after pics of me with "curl whisperer" hair cut. Not showing my face yet don't want to shock you but this is my natural curly hair before and after the cut.
No colour. Just as nature intended.
I hope I'm not kidding myself that it helps me stay young, but I wouldn't know how to look after it otherwise and a good cut makes an amazing difference as you can see. Will never be "neat" or "corporate" but its 100% me!
Good night again x

SoyYo your hair is gorgeous! Who cut it???

Mara pm Smile

I have just registered to do another module of the MBA #gluttonforpunishment Shock. I will need to cut down on MN time in a big way Sad

And I really want those Nicholas Kirkwood loafers I linked for Marsha...have been thinking about them all day...

libertydoddle · 10/10/2016 22:51

Shop and Stokey what's the sizing like on Selfish Mother sweatshirts? I think you both have them...

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 10/10/2016 23:03

everyone you must be VERY near me then, I am slap bang between the two!

AmberNectarine · 10/10/2016 23:07

Oh, give over dry, you are SO not frumpy!

Ordered a couple of bits on ASOS - will link if any good. Really fancy a Larsson & Jennings watch, but I don't ever use a watch. Pointless?

SoyYo · 10/10/2016 23:19

Thanks liberty Flowers its a lady trained in deva curly haircut has a "seat" in Marble Arch beauty salon, and a webpage/Fb page. Google Lindsey Hughes curl whisperer. Fab hairdresser I follow (loosely) curly girl techniques but even a committed lifelong curly like me picked up some useful tips. Highly recommended!
Sorry if I dont answer more til back in Uk Thursday have 2 crazy work days ahead with on/off WiFi for private mobile (don't use work iphone on MN threads).
Off to get beauty sleep 😉

shopafrolic · 11/10/2016 07:46

Lib selfish Mother sweats are fairly TTS. My grey is a medium and fits well but a little snug on the waistband, the large is comfy and slouchy. They are long in arm and body.

shopafrolic · 11/10/2016 07:49

Blair DF is fed up and doesn't understand why he can't come home. He is v confused and is being assessed for delirium and / or dementia. On the plus side no cancer at the moment and no further medical intervention but a long road ahead.

AdoraBell · 11/10/2016 10:44

Drats, ordered a lovely Máx Mara blazer from House of Fraser but despiste the invoice showing said blazer I have a Biker style jacketHmm.

HappyGirlNow · 11/10/2016 11:25

Wow SoyYo beautiful hair!

Nothing better than the feeling when you've slimmed and you're into your 'slim clothes'

Thanks for your great respone a few days ago re the decluttering. My problem is on one hand I want to simplify and have space to see things in my wardrobes but on the other I love clothes, shoes and accessories and when I see things I love/like I just can't resist! Inner conflict!! Grin
