I hear your issue with shoes marsha I'm no good with high heels but equally want something for a bit of height and leg lengthening. What about something like this valentino

shopafrolic · 09/10/2016 16:16

Love all of those GVs and MArant boots for you Marsha especially the suede.

shopafrolic · 09/10/2016 16:17

Chloe Harper?

shopafrolic · 09/10/2016 16:19

shopafrolic · 09/10/2016 16:20

Chloe Lauren come in two heel heights

shopafrolic · 09/10/2016 16:22

Saint Laurent boots for a flash of colour? Do you do cobalt?

maradesbois · 09/10/2016 17:57

Hello,

Having a lovely late afternoon relax in my equipment silk pjs with tea and all the lovely shoe links.

Shop, yes, I trust him to do what he wants, tbh was too busy chatting to notice. The only thing we disagree on is he wants me to go proper curly but it just makes me feel unkempt! Love curly hair on others but not convinced it does anything for me.

Marsha am not sure, think lots of these are too high and you just won't end up wearing to work even though they are lovely shoes. Since we moved to London I only seem to wear heels for nights out, think even 8.5 cm is quite high for all day although am sure many would disagree! That said, G Rossi is to die for, am swooning over these. Love the SL tote btw. Glad you and lib had a great mini mu, spontaneous nights out are the best!

Dreamqueen · 09/10/2016 17:59

OMG I keep falling off the tread!
Not much S&B news but I've managed to buy a beautiful kaftan thing via FB while here. I've been following all the lovely links but have t pressed buy because there's no one home to receive the parcels.
Now going to catch up on all the posts

Forgot to say shop hope DR is doing well.

maradesbois · 09/10/2016 18:05

Think the Lanvin block heel pumps Shop linked are fab.

Blingy congrats on the highlands! They sound great for you. Fwiw don't think you need to allocate a big budget for casual clothes as they don't seem to excite you, maybe add a bit to your your jcrew/r Lauren etc classics if there's stuff you need but keep the big spends for things that set your heart on fire like the boots.

AmberNectarine · 09/10/2016 18:16

As you've probably noticed I'm plumbing all my funds into standout accessories. Everyday clothes are predominantly Topshop/Whistles/Uniqlo etc.

Am musing on the possibility of a bright coat or grey leather leggings.

libertydoddle · 09/10/2016 18:29

Marsha would you consider loafers for work? Mansur Gavriel look good or channel Justa and Mara and go Gucci (although not many of them on Matches)
I also really like the Nicholas Kirkwood Beya loafers

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 09/10/2016 19:40

Shop I really like the Lanvins too, and the Chloe. Love the Saint Laurent but sadly can't do strong colours like cobalt.

Mara they are high aren't they, I'd probably end up switching at work, but then I'd have to last all day. Those G Rossis are so seriously beautiful. Colour and the velvet, you should get them

Lib I love loafers at an idea, but not sure I can pull them off, I did ponder them. And atypically dh loves the idea of loafers, even more than heels or OTK.

Dream not sure where you are, but wherever it is it looks lovely! Is it hot?

The MyTheresa link just took me to so many G Rossi boots etc that are so very beautiful will link a few

MarshaBrady · 09/10/2016 19:47

these grey suede GR

more grey suede GR

here

Maybe a low height but maybe not red, but still lovely

Basically it's a suede love in and I'm lost in a link fest of suede suede boots

*I may have linked some before, I've lost all perspective!

MarshaBrady · 09/10/2016 19:48

Not suede, but wow GR *as long as not shiny

shopafrolic · 09/10/2016 20:34

The grey suede block heel boots are fab

libertydoddle · 09/10/2016 20:40

Grey block heels are gorgeous. Definitely no tuna cans around those knee high ones!!!

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/10/2016 09:43

Those GR ankle boots are gorgeous. I have never bought really expensive shoes, is there a difference in terms of comfort between high st high heel shoes and designer shoes? The thing that always puts me off high st heels is the burning pain on the ball of my foot, but is there more 'science' in a designer shoe that means you don't get that?

Another lovely autumn day Smile, hope its a good one for everyone.

maradesbois · 10/10/2016 10:30

Morning all,

Everyone, yes, what a lovely day, perfect autumn weather. Fwiw I think good shoes are well worth the investment, crippling louboutins aside I think high end generally means well made in terms of comfort. Obviously there are limits to how comfy a 10cm heel can be but relatively speaking I think 'designer' (would include say Russell & Bromley in this category) is worth it. Guess what am trying to say in this ramble is that would rather buy my shoes from proper shoemaker from Clarks to G Rossi (who presume learnt the craft from his papa Sergio) rather than fashion shoe but then I have awkward feet.

Grey block heels are fab Marsha.

Dry saw your wedding pics on fb, top, top outfit and accessories and think the headgear was sufficiently substantial, definitely more hat-like than couple of feathers on a headband Grin.

Have a good day all, am having a lovely lazy morning at home swapping over my summer and winter clothes. Patting myself on the back for restraint, lots of old stuff in there that could do with updating. Might even try ebaying some of the more expensive bits or Vestiaire Collective, never did it.

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/10/2016 10:50

Thanks mara. I usually get my shoes from places like dune, jones, clarks m&s etc I also have a pair of kurt Geiger stilettos from years ago which are quite high and at the time seemed really expensive (for me), but they are really comfy compared to lower heels from places like dune / office. So just wondering if I went even more high end if it would be worth it.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/10/2016 12:20

Everyone I have a pair of Aquazzuras and they are actually pretty comfy (only 3 inch heel probably though). But that's the extent of my designer shoe knowledge! I tend to splash out more on boots. My most comfy heels are my R&B suede shoe boots. I would try R&B or LK Bennett first before going proper designer.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 10/10/2016 13:36

I don't have any designer shoes though have a mixture of prices - I guess with more expensive they are normally leather lined and soled so they will mould to your foot and be very comfortable even if snug to begin with. And then you can resole when necessary. I would imagine that the comfort / well made factor does not increase in line with price. So a £100 pair might be a lot better made than a £30 pair but I don't think you are seeing the same increase in standards by paying £500 if that makes sense. Happy to be corrected on that though.

On that note I like the lowalnds / highlands love in! Blingy and Amber they are definitely both your style, I think Dry and possibly Shop could also work them.

Dry sounds like you had a fun time at the wedding, especially with DH on fire on the dance floor!

Marsha a lot of those are reeeally high, esp the first lot you linked. Not a question you have to answer but how do you get to work? Would you be swapping once you got there - I think a lot of those suede beauties would be ruined by a trip on the tube. Ever practical, me Grin

I really like those Nicholas Kirkwood loafers Lib linked, and the cobalt boots Shop linked. I like the gold Lanvin for what it's worth - but they are very 'on trend', so I think they would look dated really soon.

Mara is your ghost dress for the black tie do? Looks fab on - very feminine cut and great colour. Your plans for gold sandals and statement earrings sound good too. FWIW I like your style and always admire your OOTD - casual but always sound v polished and put together. I am getting a bit sick of skinnies too and trying not to buy them.

Are you getting used to your shorter hair? I think you would suit some curl - something like this maybe? or this?

Dream glad you are having a good time, looks lovely where you are!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 10/10/2016 13:41

wearing one of many pairs of Dr Martens today, they are almost perfectly broken in now, they just need that last little bit before they are totally comfy.Docs arr worth every penny i spend on them, once they are properly broken in, i find the most comfortable shoes i own and i wear them with anything and everything

rest of my outfit is black tights, a grey and red tartan circle skirt and a black v neck star wars 'welcome to the dark side' tee . off to the doctors shortly for an injection so will add a red trench coat and black and red scarf for while i'm out. not quite hat weather though.

Stokey · 10/10/2016 16:42

I love the grey suede boots Marsha and the gold Lanvin but not that practical. I had some heeled Chelsea boots that I wore a lot for work, they were good. I can also really picture you in brogues with either ankle grazers or a mini skirt.

I'm with you on the skinnies Mara, although now I've unpacked my chunky jumpers they're coming into their own more. I think I want some wide trousers but they can be a bit drowning when you're short.

Chilly today and I've got a horrible cold. I'm wearing plum tube skirt, grey cashmere v neck & black Stans. Pretty dull.

FedupNagging · 10/10/2016 17:46

Ooo lovely shoe and boot links last night Marsha. I absolutely love the GR suede knee high boots swoon. I think you could definitely pull of this look but with trousers not jeans for work, and this - the short skirt with low block heels not the actual colour combination!!
