mara it's unbelievable dire.

I went out for dinner with DH last night to one of our favourite restaurants. And I sat with a cola. First time I've ever left that place at least substantially merry Grin I love my food but I also love my wine. I actually felt really fidgety! Confused

I made lamb shanks today, I had to buy 2 mini bottles of Pinot for the recipe, it nearly killed me emptying them into Le Creuset Sad

But, it's for a good cause. My best friend since childhood was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer a year ago and just got told there's no trace of cancer any more after chemo, surgery and radiotherapy, she just has to have Herceptin jags until the year end. She has a wee girl aged 5. Macmillan have been a great support to her. So in the grand scheme of things what is a month off the booze although I will continue to moan about it of course Grin

HappyGirlNow · 02/10/2016 21:07

*not at least substantially merry of course! Grin

libertydoddle · 02/10/2016 21:16

Big hugs Shop. How is your Dad feeling in himself? Sometimes a diagnosis can be a relief. At least you know what you are dealing with then and can discuss a proper plan with the health professionals. I'll be saying a little prayer for him and you and your Mum tomorrow too Flowers

Thanks for all the raincoat love! I've tried on quite a few and it was the minimal look that appealed as well as being padded but not too bulky. Will work well for on and off the Tube and can layer a Uniqlo gillet underneath when it's properly cold. SoyYo it does sound like the same Boden raincoat, mine was a steal at about £35 in the sale but the waterproofing only lasted 2 winters.

QueenC I enjoyed the Sunday morning links Smile

Have a bit of a self imposed ban on MN but had to come on to send Shop all my love, have been thinking about you and your df Flowers

I have really missed the all the chat but didn't want to get tempted by your lovely purchases, have enough clothes for a/w and really don't want to buy any more, not very MNV I know Blush all part of my less is more thang we also we may also be moving house soon too.

A bit way back but want to say I love that book More Dash than Cash, it was my bible back in the day along with Terence Conran's House Book, I didn't even own a house a the time.

Have only made 1 casual purchase, I went into Next looking for Viva's sweatshirt but came out with this navy pocket top instead it's quite boxy and easy to wear for school run/ fitness class. Didn't realise it came in white as well.

Merriboo · 02/10/2016 21:36

shop sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family. It's been a tough time but hope all goes well with the op Flowers

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 21:45

Longislandicetee · 02/10/2016 21:57

Big hugs to you Shop. I have a light day tomorrow so call me if you want/need to talk. Flowers

I have had a manic weekend. Dh was away from Friday morning till this evening. First time I have had the dcs alone over a whole weekend. Fabulous but utterly exhausting! I have just spotted this Diptique Advent calendar and am totally in love with it. I am going to get one.

Dh, got back and saw my new vintage Gucci Jackie hobo and started quizzing me about it. I asked him how he knew it was new and he said "I know all your bags babe". As if.Grin

Love QueenC's DvF link. My fingers hovered over the button and then I thought "where are you wearing it to?" then stopped. Blush

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 22:00

Can you buy me one please Blingy I've been ever so good surprised you didn't say more about my sofa, rug and lamp purchase

libertydoddle · 02/10/2016 22:10

I'd like sofa, lamp and rug links Shop. Didn't want to ask as I knew you'd be busy and tired... Your Dad sounds very stoic and brave.

Longislandicetee · 02/10/2016 22:18

Shop, I quietly raised an eyebrow.GrinTo everyone else, Shops house is lovely and that room doesn't need a sofa rug or table. Where is the sofa going anyway??Shock

I want to get the candles for one of my siblings, who will appreciate it. Dh will do the "what's the occasion" face again!

I also love this Alexander McQueen dress.

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 22:21

The sofa is going where the old sofa was! That sofa is now looking fabulous in the front room. The spotty chaise from the front room is being sold.

AmberNectarine · 02/10/2016 22:29

shop I'm shit with sensitive words, as you know, but I'm always here if you need comic relief/a big old drink Flowers

blingy I'm very tempted by the Liberty advent calendar this year. Loved my Selfridges one last year.

mara can totally see you in the ghost dress

dream happy hols- that is NOTHING for 2 weeks!

Slight confession to make - been digging my Lowlands so much, I ordered these.

libertydoddle · 02/10/2016 22:30

Lovely shop, all very elegant. I agree with Blingy your house is gorgeous anyway but it's nice to have an update from time to time.

lib lovely coat
mara glad the ghost dress worked out, it is gorgeous
shop the polo neck looks great. I have always found cos knitwear to be good quality
soyo your work trip sounds great
dream no help on the packing front from me i'm afraid I am terrible at it and always end up wearing the same things.
blingy I want a diptyque calendar too now!

libertydoddle · 03/10/2016 08:08

amber what did you buy? Your link is just taking me to the Selfridges home page?

Properly chilly this morning. I'm wearing my oversize teal Hobbs coat I bought last winter. Feeling that this coat was a mistake Sad. It's itchy on my neck and I'm not sure it's the best shape for me. Colour is amazing though.

OOTD is navy and beige jacquard sleeveless short dress, Uniqlo navy v-neck merino cardigan, navy opaque Wolford tights (they feel so lovely) and tan Clark's hamble oak brogues. Love this outfit!

AmberNectarine · 03/10/2016 08:35

Oh these. Bit of a sharp intake of breath at the amount I've spent on boots lately, but I do love them!

FedupNagging · 03/10/2016 08:36

Just popping in quickly to say I am thinking of you and your dp's today Shop and hoping that it all goes well.

Small consolation but if it's the hospital I think it is, I had 2 of my dc's there and a close friend has had several major ops there for cancer, the last one 2 weeks ago and they are absolutely fantastic.

Will catch up on last nights gossip later.

maradesbois · 03/10/2016 09:01

Morning,

Its a chilly one but nice and sunny, have put the heating on for first time, a sure sign that the last dregs of summer have been exhausted.

Shop, sending you love and courage, will text you later.

lib is your teal coat the one you wore when we went for those super-strong dirty martinis in soho? If so definitely not a mistake! Maybe its because you're not wearing a scarf yet it feels funny around the neck.

dream holiday wardrobe sounds spot on, so envious of you heading off to the sunshine.

everyone hope you've managed some better nights this weekend.

Amber yay, thought they were going to be an imminent arrival!

kitty lovely to see you, don't keep away from the thread if you're not spending money, as you know its about so much more than that.

QueenC fantasy shoes, based on Winona Ryder's character in Beetlejuice apparently!

Today am doing job research stuff and going to SW, boring but necessary. The SW curry cookbook is fab, going to do a Thai green one tonight, need to go shopping for herbs & spices.

Blingy Lovely McQueen dress for you but would be all wrong for me, same for the highlands although lowlands yes. Haha at dh, cannot believe for one second he knows all that is lurking in the depths of that dressing room!

libertydoddle · 03/10/2016 09:34

Thanks Mara, it is that one! Those martinis were unbelievably strong!

Amber fab boots! Enjoy.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/10/2016 11:02

Hi everyone

Firstly sending lots of love and good vibes to shop Flowers

Like kitty I've not really been spending, so have been lurking . My wardrobe is full and I've been thinking very carefully about what I need this season rather than want.

Like blingy I'm lusting after a Burberry trench, but the one I want is £1400 which is a huge proportion of my yearly allowance. I don't think I can justify it yet, especially as I want to enjoy spending £££ in NYC. It feels pretty greedy of me to try and make it happen in the same year that I got my watch and a gold necklace, so I think I might go for this one instead which surely has to be at least a tenth as good?

I'm going to Chanel tomorrow to be a makeup "model" again, v excited but don't know what to wear! The mornings are so cold.

Amber you are the OTK boot queen!

Dream have a fantastic time getting some R&R.

Marsha I keep meaning to say, I think lots of things in the Iris & Ink range would suit you really well as workwear, like this skirt. Hope the job is still going well.

Finally SoyYo we also had homemade apple crumble yesterday, made by DH with apples from my DM's garden. It really feels like autumn now!

AmberNectarine · 03/10/2016 11:07

Happy will hate me, but look at my new bag, everyone!

shopafrolic · 03/10/2016 11:29

Pistols on the Outnet for £292!!

FedupNagging · 03/10/2016 12:31

Woohoo Amber, love it. I think it was featured in the Times lust list this Saturday.

Mara I think you will look stunning in the Ghost dress with gold shoes and accessories.

Dream not sure when you go, but have a fab, fab time. Your packing list looked fine although maybe take out a pair of sandals and add heels if it's a smart hotel. We stayed in a 5* this summer but I decided it wouldn't be as smart in the country we were visiting as say Singapore so I wished I had taken a few more dressy items and heels.

Waves to Kitty and Blair - was wondering where you had got to. I'm not spending much either Sad

Shop I tried that on in store recently but it looked like a dress on me! It's lovely and soft though and you do suit a polo neck.

I picked up these trousers yesterday and will definitely keep although I still need to get them altered as they are too long. I will wear them with my stans and quite possibly the pointy flats.

SoYo sounds like you're very busy atm but how lovely that you had lots of positive comments on your wardrobe.

Welcome to the thread Searabbit; I loved the Alice Temperley dress you linked for Bernice.

Gorgeous AM dress Blingy - will you purchase? I like the pattern and belt on what is actually a simple dress, and that style is a fab one for you.

Lib loving the sound of your very autumnal ootd.
