Isn't it 12th November?!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/10/2016 13:09
Grin
kittyhello · 03/10/2016 13:33

I'm still in, like Blair I thought it was Nov too Grin

Amber fantastic OTK boots and to die for leopard bag Envy

I'm being lazy but someone link the Ghost dress and gold sandals, I only had a quick scan in my read back yesterday

Dream are you off soon? Have a wonderful time. Hope the zip on your new Pistols stay up.

The Tippis are back out, love wearing these.

kittyhello · 03/10/2016 13:48

Sorry Blair forgot to comment on the trench. Will you be happy with the MD trench or will you always yearn for a Burberry one? If it's the latter you may be better off holding out it, it's a classic so will always be in. Maybe set up a Burberry trench fund so when people ask what you want for Xmas or Birthday ask if they can put some money towards it. I'm doing this for a new LV scarf. Every year I say I want a new LV scarf!

I think of the adage "you buy cheap you buy twice" not saying the MD trench is cheap but if it's not the one you really really want you may end buying Burberry and therefore have "wasted" £140. I have done this no end of times, bought something cheaper because I can't afford the more expensive item but still yearn for that item and eventually end up purchasing it.

Hope this doesn't come across as preachy Blush

Fwiw I like the MD trench. xx

SeaRabbit · 03/10/2016 14:05

A friend of mine bought a Burberry trench about 8 years ago, and we were both surpirsed just how short a life it had - it was chocolate brown cotton, and got scuffed on the edges, so they were paler, within a couple of years. A button broke too, and she stopped wearing it after only 3 years.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/10/2016 14:06

Aw thanks for the dedicated reply kitty! It's just SO much money for me that I don't think I'll mind waiting another few years, and the MD one (which I thought "yes" as soon as I saw it) would tide me over. I've got an asos one at the moment which has done me a few years and is looking tatty. I know I'd wear it loads and loads but I'm just not a "spend over £1k on one item" type of person, wish I was but not yet!

I wore all 3 of my Tippis last week and got one on again today - they are so useful. Can't wait to buy more.

The leopard bag is amazing Amber!

Dreamqueen · 03/10/2016 14:24

I thought it was 12 Nov too. if it's Nov I'm in. Can't do Dec though.

FedupNagging · 03/10/2016 14:36

Aagghh, sorry everyone - MNV MU definitely IS Sat 12th November.

I have December on my mind as several people are trying to arrange Christmas -& I'm not ready to think about it yet!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/10/2016 14:45

Thanks searabbit, didn't see your post until after I wrote mine. Funnily enough I saw a woman wearing one on Friday (was quite close to her so could see the branding) and it looked crumpled and not that smart.

SoyYo · 03/10/2016 14:48

Hi everyone, taking a break from non stop work today.
I also thought the meet was in Nov, I cannot do December either.

Blair yeay to autumn apple crop!! Our garden used to be part of our town's vicarage garden, had tons of fruit trees originally, we had to have some cut down but still have a huge 100+ year old apple bramley tree (the really old fashioned variety) and conference pear tree. We always get bumper crops out of such lovely old trees.
That trench is classic and great, I cannot bring myself to spend £££ on clothes either and never will ,but do enjoy seeing others amazing purchases. Burberry is such a classic buy though but £1.4k for a trench! Shock. Have fun on the Chanel makeup model session! You must be exquisitely pretty and after the session will no doubt look stunning, you must make the most of that professionally made up face and go out tomorrow...I had a C.Tillbury prof makeup session last Feb as part of my birthday treat, followed by Verdi at the Royal Opera House. I don't usually wear a lot of makeup and the transformation was amazing!! Loved it. Enjoy!

Amber those boots and leopard bag! WOW!!!

Hi FedUp waving, when you have a mo please will you let me know if the M&S pointy flats in standard fit are roomy? I would really like a pair but have wide feet Sad

Blingy you were right about JCrew sizing, I ordered 30 and 31 toothpick petite jeans and both too big so going back. I'm 5'3" so borderline petite, but I wanted them slightly cropped in any case. Bargain price at sale (£39.90). Have just reordered a 29", seems easy enough to return/exchange so we will see, maybe I need a 28"?...I think I am not as fat a I think I am in my head. Despite weight loss at Slimworld I am still 1 stone above my pre kids weight but I think if I weighed that now I would look a bit haggard/ancient so sticking with this healthy BMI.

SoyYo · 03/10/2016 14:55

liberty a while back you wrote you must stop buying at Uniglo. Well I did that and got the Ines Chester coat, and keeping it as I like it.
But it reminded me of my Boden "comfort zone" as today I got in the post yet another catalogue and it had my name printed on it, special 25th anniversary issue, not only that but it told me I have been part of "their" journey since 2002 and even the first thing I ever ordered...That was a sobering reminder that I must stop my "boden default button" if ever there was one!
Ladies You have permission to shout at me and virtually slap my wrists if you see me keeping too many Boden items in the future only stating this because I have just returned 3 bagfulls of tat and didn't keep a single thing for a change

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/10/2016 14:58

SoyYo Grin Blush lol, I am not a model, a friend of a friend is the Chanel makeup training manager and for every random person she can get to come to the training session, she doesn't have to pay a real model. It's a great fun day out though!

Your garden and trees sound gorgeous. I have a tiny garden, which I like that way for now!

FedupNagging · 03/10/2016 15:02

Sorry SoYo I did mean to comment on the pointy flats.

I have these wide fit pointy flats and whilst I thought they were a bit snug to begin with, they are surprisingly comfy. Despite the fact I nearly returned them, I have worn them lots in the last couple of weeks. Oh and I have very wide trotters feet Grin

Bernice these floaty dresses just popped up, don't know if they are any good?
This(my favourite)
This
and
This - not floral but still floaty although I would style with nicer footwear

SoyYo · 03/10/2016 15:09

Thank You FedUp that's the encouragement I needed Grin

Blair I live in the sticks hence lots of garden. It is gorgeous but tbh sometimes I hanker after a dinky little cottage/patio garden, large gardens are hard work which is why mine is a bit wild Smile but as an old orchard it has "good bones" and can take it plus the local hedgehog family seem to love overgrown hedges --so that's my excuse anyway-.

Everyonelovessparkles · 03/10/2016 15:14

fedup I'm still up for the meet up (how many times can I use the word 'up' in one sentence!)

amber I bet your DH will like those boots Grin. Nice bag too.

blair the MD trench is very nice and quite a good price. It should be reasonably good quality and last until you can get the Burberry one? Enjoy the make up session tomorrow.

lib your OOTD sounds lovely. Your outfits always sound so stylish and well put together.

mara thanks. After a terrible Saturday night, last night wasn't too bad so I feel like a new woman, don't quite look like one yet though Grin. Have you decided whether to keep the ghost dress?

Lovely autumn day here, it's so sunny and warm. My OOTD is a very boring skinny jeans and Breton as am working at home. I have started to try and make more effort when working at home, as find if I don't bother with hair and make up and just wear 'comfy' clothes it does affect how I feel about myself and then that strays into getting lazy with exercise and eating rubbish, which makes me feel worse too.

AmberNectarine · 03/10/2016 16:11

blair actually IS exquisitely pretty though, just too modest to realise!

Yes, amazingly DH was far more receptive to those boots than I would have thought at the price. Can't think why!

I now have SEVEN pairs of OTK boots. You lot much never let me buy another. Srsly.

Considering a couple more items for my A/W wardrobe. I do like this time of year!

maradesbois · 03/10/2016 16:51

I second Amber about Blair, a natural beauty. Initially I thought same as kitty about md trench B but now you explain think you are right. Am sure you are most relieved to have my approval!! I still wear Burberry one from 10+ years ago but they were much cheaper then even ignoring inflation.

Glad to hear you feel refreshed Everyone

SoyYo their marketing plan clearly backfired big time!

Only half a fecking pound off at sw Angry. Thought I was going to get my one stone award sticker but 2.5 lbs short. Really wanted that sticker for my book competitive

QueenCobalt · 03/10/2016 17:10

Wow, so much to catch up on in just one day! I haven't got long before going out again (family tea) but just wanted to say, mara , I love those shoes you linked for me!

Drywhitethanks · 03/10/2016 17:29

Amber I love that bag!

Can't wait for the MU.....I think I haven't met SoyYo, Everyone and Viva........ill be targeting you Grin

Loved the chilly start today. So happy to get my opaque scandal jumpers on again.

Am beginning to twitch about my party dress.....don't want to get it too soon, but don't want to leave it too late Confused .....my favourites so far are the DVF Fifi in teal and the Coast equivalent, but I think one will be too short and the other too long Hmm.

Meant to say SoyYo 1/2k over weight baggage......I win! I was 3kg this summer......I fact the whole family 4 cases were over Blush went a bit nuts

Drywhitethanks · 03/10/2016 17:30

"Scandal jumpers" Grin......not in my job !!!

Drywhitethanks · 03/10/2016 17:34

and our family fav apple recipe is Nigel Slater's chocolate apple Betty from his "Real Food" book, p.292.........delicious and easy.

SoyYo · 03/10/2016 18:21

Ordered those M&S wide black flats FedUp online as I cannot be bothered to go to the shop. Thank you again. They appear popular as they had already sold out on a few sizes but luckily not mine! Fingers crossed...will let you know when they arrive. Had to slap my fingers as I got tempted by sale pure silk blouse in Russet, but deleted from basket, I actually own 6/7 silk shirts in various styles/colours so even if I don't own one in Russet it IS superfluous to current needs

mara yes it did! Grin having said that there is still one more Boden parcel to arrive before aforementioned catalogue appeared promise it will be the last one in a while if I do actually keep anything this time. Do stick with Slimworld, I was highly sceptical but it does work. I lost only 1lb a week on average but after 5 1/2 months I got there. I haven't been for a weigh in in 3 weeks so will pop in tomorrow as I don't find it difficult to maintain (3lb below target weight last time I went) but must remain vigilant and limit apple crumble consumption

Dry looking forward to meeting you too! You will easily recognise me I am the one with the slightly wild curly hair Wink
On the baggage my ticket did allow for one hold bag but I didn't want to waste time at airports so I packed it all in my hand luggage, which has a separate compartment for laptop/books/chargers, etc. They were incredibly strict and I was a bit miffed as I so carefully watched my liquids allowance for nothing in the end...it did however provide a wonderful excuse to get this laptopbag in case any of you are looking for one, it is really nice. I already own a leather knomo actually two leather laptop bags plus laptop racksacks, other bags but I actually prefer this it is very light, comes with a long strap so you can also use across the body, it is practical and rainproof/light and the black with gold hardware gives it a more expensive than it looks. Plus I got £ off RRP at the airport shop! I realise I am sad...while some ladies on this thread collect fabulous designer handbags I rattle on about my collection of laptop bags.
Sorry!!

libertydoddle · 03/10/2016 20:14

Flowers everyone. I often think my outfits sound better than they look. But I liked today's a lot.

I'd like a Knomo backpack soyyo so good to hear you rate them. I got one of those 'personalised' Boden catalogues last year. It put me right off them!! I felt stalked Shock.
