mara the Ghost green dress is beautiful

Dreamqueen · 02/10/2016 17:37

Thanks for input Soyo I might do a few tweaks tomorrow.

libertydoddle · 02/10/2016 17:47

Depends on where you are going Dream but I would want a cardigan or denim jacket for popping over dresses if needed in the evening. Are any of the sandals good for walking in if you are doing any sightseeing? Othersies all looks good.

Sounds like you got your capsule trip away packing spot on SoyYo!

Great that the Ghost dress is a keeper Mara. It will be lovely with gold sandals - now I need to get your gold clutch back to you!! Will text you...

Very boring and practical purchase today - this Seasalt raincoat in peat. My Boden parka is no longer waterproof and I need a coat with a hood and decent length for the wet days. Pains me to part with £140 for practicality!!

I like that coat Lib I like the 'minimalness' of it. (is that an actual word?)

I'm off or Dominican Republic for 2 weeks R&R in a very nice all inclusive. Not planning on moving far from my sunbed & kindle (& bar) Kindle has saved me kilos of books in my luggage.

I'm also trying to do no spend Oct but keep getting tempted.

Mara I have a soft spot for Ghost & really like those dresses (unfortunately I'm a foot too short to wear any of them)

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 19:17

liberty yes lots of forcedpacking here Smile
I like the sea salt raincoat, I have a similar Boden one (plain black, purple fleece lining) bought on the sale a few winters ago and still going strong...you must do lots more wet weather walking than me if the coating wore off on yours!

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 19:25

dream sounds perfect a resort in the Dominican Republic! I did a similar hol in Mexico resort (Tulum) a couple of years ago and I would say your mix is right. People do smarten up in the evenings so all those dresses will be super useful. I wore one of my jersey maxis to death!
Yes make sure at least one of your sandals can take lots of walking for sightseeing.
I took a large gold/camel cotton/jersey soft shawl with me which doubled up as a scarf or coverup over dresses in the evening.
Consider some jewellery too, a necklace or 2.
I don't think you'd wear a denim jacket though as its so hot and humid but a cotton or jersey long sleeved cardy might be less bulky and also useful in the plane

Everyonelovessparkles · 02/10/2016 19:28

Nice links queenc that dvf dress is lovely.

Good smart but practical coat lib and as dream says, quite minimalist.

Glad the work trip went well soy. Shame about the luggage mess up, but sounds like you made the most if it. I've read good things about lap top bags.

Holiday sounds good dream. Can you take me with you in your luggage, I could do with two weeks RnR?! Grin

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 19:38

Thanks everyone one of the best business trips in ages. The Hotel was a-ma-zing, met up with old school friend one eve (hadn't seen each other in literally decades, very special).
Also a bit sad to say bye to the European team I've worked with for the last 5 years, such a great and fun bunch if people. As a special goodbye treat our boss organised for two tours, including the Sistine Chapel plus amazing food, watering holes...wish all my work trips were that great!

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 19:42

I'm off again in a week to Paris, then transferring by rail to Lyon to meet some of my new (French) team...I'm afraid this one will be one long and hard slog and no glamour at all. Will see if I can manage a quick trip to the left bank for a change of scene.

Dreamqueen · 02/10/2016 19:46

As those of you who met me at last meet up know I'm the granny of MNV. My son is 30 so I have no childcare issues or limited to school holidays. I've done my time as they say & am still waiting for grandchildren.

Gosh no spend month will be difficult. I wish I'd done what Shop (I think it's you Shop) and ysed a different email for ordering & signing up for internet shopping. I've got s many inviting ones in my inbox. lesson learnt and will do that in future.

Drywhitethanks · 02/10/2016 19:48

QueenC the DVF Fifi dress is gorgeous, might look a bit longer on me not model height am I ?- . I worry about deep v backs pasty back, but at least tones, fake tan? will see if local dept store stocks that style to try.

Dream and SoYo great holiday/work trip packing.

Liberty I need to replace my Merrell Wakefield first MN purchase in 2012 the Seasalt looks lovely

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 19:56

Tougher than tough day today Voguettes. The consultant went through DF's procedure tomorrow. The cancer word has loomed larger than ever. Specifically linked to asbestos. I'm scared. Biopsy results Thursday. Hold my hand please Voguettes.

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 19:59

Today, aside from lazying and catching up with your fab links, I've come over all domestic goddess. Picked apples and pears from my garden trees (so much fruit! Wtf will I do with it all...same every year even my neighbours don't want yet another bagful of bramleys). Cooked a massive apple/pear crumble for DH as Both DS away...and have masses if fruit left Shock
Oh well, Brownie points with DH plus house smells wonderful with the cinammon/burnt caramel crumble smell. Have "artfully" arranged apples and pears in bowls on kitchen, dining tables worktops, etc oh the mellow season of harvest and fruitfullness

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 20:03

Oh shop didn't see your post before posting mine. Huge virtual hug.
You've really been through it with your DF, and now more difficult news Flowers

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 20:05

shop I've been through similar sadness with both my DP's. Specially DM.
I feel for you. Know you're never alone in this

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 20:07

dream you wont be the only "fab fifty* if I make it to the Nov Mn meet Grin
DS1 is 24, DS2 is 20...and I didn't start young!!GrinGrin

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 20:08

Thanks SoYo I love the smell of harvested apples - feel free to send me a crumble :)

Everyonelovessparkles · 02/10/2016 20:09

Sorry to hear about your DF shop. Thinking of you and your family Flowers

SoyYo · 02/10/2016 20:12

Huge comforting warm helping if apple crumble on its way to you shop Smile
Remember this will take a while.
Be kind to yourself

Dreamqueen · 02/10/2016 20:24

Shop hand holding and send you massive positive energy. I'm not good at words but want you to know I'll be saying a prayer for DF.

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 20:30

Thanks Dream - means a lot

Stokey · 02/10/2016 20:31

Oh Shop, so sorry to hear that, sending warm vibes and lots of love to you & your family.

Have a lovely holiday Dream

I'm jealous of your apples Soyyo. Our tree didn't produce any this year. I think it got confused by the false spring and didn't blossom. And we only got 6 quince, boo.

No fashion news except brrrrr. Going into the attic tomorrow to recovery winter jumpers and store summer stuff.

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 20:32

Weather wise this week looks lush, love a colder, sunny Autumn day.

shopafrolic · 02/10/2016 20:47

Those who have met me... thoughts on this?
I was also just about to order the grey Zara coat on my Considering Pin board but it has sold out in the grey!

HappyGirlNow · 02/10/2016 20:54

shop sorry things are so tough for you and your family at the moment Flowers
