So I'm having drinks with Gordon at No 11 next week - what should I wear?

Smallish event. Early evening, will probably go out for dinner afterwards (not with the big G!).
Don't want to look like I'm up from the cuntry and overdressed, don't want to turn up in smart day wear if in fact everyone else is in cocktail dresses.

Straw poll then - what do you think?

I think everyone is stunned into silence.

What about a slogan t-shirt?

And try not to hum "Gordon Is A Moron" under your breath.(not that he is one, obv)

The Saltire as a cape. To remind Gordon that we haven't forgotten he's Scots, even though he seems desperate to forget it himself.

LIZS · 02/02/2007 12:52

Or

How much for a Knighthood ???

Soapbox · 02/02/2007 13:31

A nice wrap dress - DvF perhaps, high shoes and restrained jewellery.

That way you are not too work-like nor too cocktail dressed.

PrincessPeaHead · 02/02/2007 13:31

Oh come on, pleeeeease be serious. I'm there in my capacity as Spouse. Who is there in his capacity as um Professional I suppose... anyway.
Does anyone have any SENSIBLE views please? gazes sternly over half moon glasses

OK, lets have votes.

  1. Look as though I have come from work - for eg black armani trouser suit plus some good jewellery
  2. Look as though this is a bit of an event and I'm going out to dinner afterwards - dkny silk skirt, silk top, bit of shine, bit of pattern
  3. Dress up a bit - cocktail dress and heels

ooooh, soapy is being helpful!
trouble is soapy I currently have No Waist Worth Talking About (4th child has killed it and I've been too lazy to attempt to find it again) so wrap dress NOT a good look. But I see the direction you are going - more 2. than 1. and NOT 3.??
