Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

Meriboo my sympathies - I have that to come and it will be v hard Flowers
Dry swim twins - we need to meet up at a spa surely?
Blair I'd size down in that one Grin
Mara he slept for two hours. And then anyone who knows me on FB will see that we had a massive breakthrough! Despite having only had one term of swimming lessons when he was 3 - DS took off his swim jacket and swam, unaided, no floats, nothing! I cried - a lot Smile
He is trying kids club again today but a little reluctantly. Fingers crossed he sticks it out. Am poolside MNetting and about to do my Headspace meditation. Love all you fabulous Voguettes.

Drywhitethanks · 28/07/2016 08:37

Blair that's a shame about your party.
Meriboo v difficult for you.xx

Right my friends the time has come to start thinking about my cruise packing. Grin you have 10 days of my posts to skip...this could be painful
Never been on a cruise.
I need 2 formal outfits yipee
One Captain cocktail party outfit bloody hell really? I sound about 80......but again YIPEE for dress up
Sightseeing stuff.
And then more relaxed clothes for evenings.
Oh and I need knee and shoulder coverage for the Vatican.
This will be fun.
Apparently it's not too smart on evenings and Im wondering whether, with the air con, I'll be able to do black slim/Skinnies with heels and a top on some nights?
Where do I start?

I think footwear will be easy:
Gold Gigis
Havs for pool
Silver heeled sandals for evenings go with everything
Perhaps my SS for sightseeing....or will they be too hot? Might scrap them infact.

Bags.......cross body dark brown Fossil
Tan R Minkoff clutch
Silver clutch for posh dos.

Enough rambling for now.

Drywhitethanks · 28/07/2016 08:53

oh........ and I found an empty bottle of Smirnoff Ice in my tumble drier Hmm

BerniceBobsHerHair · 28/07/2016 10:45

Justa we went on a family holiday to Paris with DC in 2013 - was a lovely trip and lots to do for kids. Appreciate it will be different now though.

We went to a lot of the big parks - they all seem to have lots of DC friendly activities in them.

I love the Buttes Chaumont park but it is a bit of a faff to get to (although it wasn't one of the particularly DC friendly ones).

Also recommend the Natural History museum which is in the Botanical park.

Plus Walks along the canal which can take you to la Villette.

This Arab Institute is worth looking at if you are passing, I seem to recall there is a playground nearby.

Also I think your DC are a bit older than mine so this walk may be an option (it is easy and flat):

Promenade Plantee

I think it ends near le Bois de Boulogne iirc.

Ok going to post this as I don't want to lose it!!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 28/07/2016 10:56

And hello to everyone else Grin

Flowers to Meriboo - sounds tough.

Enjoying the updates from the sunloungers Marsha and shop (also a little Envy)

Grin Lib at managing your wardrobe being a FT job. Good call on swapping the shirts though.

Blair that is annoying about the jumpsuit. Can you size down lots or have they sold out?

Dream sounds like you had a lovely day.

Well done One a great achievement. Funny that Amber spotted you out and about. And that Kitty and Dream bumped into each other!

I like that top too QueenC

Ooh Dry sounds like fun planning to be had. Do you need to buy all you've listed or do you have some already? I would imagine black trousers / heels and top would work for some eves.

Ah Stokey I love Italy. Hope you have a great time. Is DH fully recovered?

I was pleased to snag these dree topshop crop flares in the sale - I haven't received them yet, Justa and Amber I think you have them? have they been a good purchase?

I've also ordered a few things from the Very E sale:
Leopard trainers
Hudson boots
Jumpsuit
I doubt I will keep all of it!

Topazandpearl · 28/07/2016 12:59

Popping in to say 'hello' from a hot and humid HK. Haven't caught up fully but a very well done to One. You were an inspiration to me a couple of years ago and will continue to be when I get back from holidays.

We loved Paris when our DC were younger justa. I hope you have a lovely time. In these awful times, I try to remember that most people are kind and decent.

I'm loving all the holiday posts and shopping links but I probably won't be catching up properly until after we're home.

Drywhitethanks · 28/07/2016 16:22

Gosh Bernice no! I have it all, just need to sort through all the crap and choose.

Yes indeed Shop actual swim twins, because as everyone knows we look exactly the same IRL polar oppositesGrin

Drywhitethanks · 28/07/2016 16:23

And btw teeth whitening results are amazing. Totally money well spent.

libertydoddle · 28/07/2016 16:33

Has it made your teeth sensitive Dry?

Everyonelovessparkles · 28/07/2016 20:38

Lots to catch up on!

blair will you be reordering the jumpsuit in a smaller size?

shop glad DS managed a nap and great news on the swimming! My DC don't have swimming lessons something close to child abuse if recent MN threads were anything to go by so I can appreciate your pride!

dry cruise outfit planning sounds fun and will be nice to dress up. There's not enough dressing up occasions these days Grin Also, did you find out where the Smirnoff ice came from? Good news on the teeth white in too.

lib sounds like a good call on the shirts.

stokey Italian holiday sounds nice.

I'm very jealous of all the holiday talk so have resorted to buying things for my holiday next year [grin ] day dress and stripey dress both are keepers.

What do the Voguettes think about this Bardot style in general. Do you think it will be around for a while or is it very 'fashiony' / of the moment? The dresses I got you can wear the sleeve on the shoulder so I'm not too bothered about them, but there's quite a lot of tops and dresses around in this style and just wondered what your thoughts were on the longevity of it.

libertydoddle · 28/07/2016 21:02

I think Bardot tops won't last. everyone They are too hard to wear to be a classic IE fiddly with bras, having to adjust all the time. Both of those dresses look very versatile though since you can wear them on your shoulders.

justasecond · 28/07/2016 21:29

Thank you so much for all those fantastic suggestions bernice Flowers. I like the idea of the walks, we have 4 days there so should be able to fit lots in. Great purchases too, I esp like the jerome dreyfuss trainers. Yes I did get the dree kickflares, have not worn them as much as I thought I would mainly because I think they make my thighs look big as I have worn tops tucked into them and therfore feel more exposed! having said that they are super comfortable and for that price def worth keeping.

well done to minishop I am jealous though as I have spent a ridiculous amount on lessons for my dc and they are still useless!

Agree with lib on the bardot tops, it won't last plus sadly its a trend few can pull off well.

Hope you are having a fab time topaz I have always wanted to visit HK.

The givenchy flats have been shipped! fingers crossed they fit, worried they will be too big.

I have just impulse bought this top I can't curb my magpie tendencies any longer

KittyHello · 28/07/2016 21:38

Bows down to Bernice's fab round up and I echo all what she said, I've just had a major read through and catch up and wanted to respond to everyone but have just put the dc to bed, my brain is all mush and I've resorted to Wine Love the leopard trainers

Meant to post on Monday to say how lovely it was to bump into Dream at Costco, you looked lovely, all sleek and shiny hair and your PB top was a great colour on you.

Loving the holiday pics Shop not Envy at all oh no Wink btw what are you wearing to dinner in the evening? I'm off to a similar ish resort and I don't think evening dinner is overly formal but think my day dresses, Boden Blackberry might be too casual. May have to take my JCrew skirts but they are really bulky. How many evening dresses did you pack? Questions questions.

libertydoddle · 28/07/2016 21:43

I'm sitting on my hands trying not to order the fringed Hudson boots Bernice linked.

justa I can totally see you in that top!

kitty I am on the Wine too.

Drywhitethanks · 28/07/2016 21:47

Liberty yes a bit sensitive but not too bad and I'm thinking it will wear off once I'm done.

Everyone we let our teenagers have a party last Saturday, it will be from then. The house was fine thank goodness. Honestly, I could write a guide about what to do to prepare for a teenaged party.....empties in White goods wasn't somethink Id expected Grin

justasecond · 28/07/2016 21:48

meant to say everyone that although bardot tops will prob not become classics I think they will still be fashionable for the next couple of years, so those dresses are a good buy for your next holiday!

btw any size 7s after gigis? a bargain here www.oxygenboutique.com/gigi-seashell-pink-and-ivory

Drywhitethanks · 28/07/2016 21:50

And I love dressing up Everyone . Just love dress and heels so much better than jeans. I'm the one on here that overdresses Grin which is why I'm on here.......need calming down!

Everyonelovessparkles · 28/07/2016 22:01

dry I love dressing up too, alas my lifestyle doesn't call for much dressing up these days. Though I'm still drawn to nice dresses when looking online and have to remind myself that i do not need yet another fancy dress! Glad the house survived the party.

I think you are all right re the Bardot tops, don't think they will be a classic but maybe around for a while, though I think the 'cold shoulder' top might be more short lived.

Dreamqueen · 29/07/2016 08:00

Has anyone bought this Hush dress I'm contemplating it for hol evening wear but reviews say its quite see through. having to wear a slip would minimise its cooling properties.

QueenC1 · 29/07/2016 08:24

Morning all. Nearly survived the first week of the hols. It's been tough as dh on call so means we never see him. Looking forward to dp being down at the weekend for some help! It still seems ages away till we go away. When does everyone else go?

everyone I think Bardot tops will always look nice for summer if they look good on you.

Just about to drag dc to circuits-im really missing doing some proper exercise. Ive been doing killer body dvd but it's not quite the same.

KittyHello · 29/07/2016 09:39

Dream I think Fedup has that dress, I need some more holiday evening wear too.

Queen well done on surviving week 1 of school hols, we're off in a few weeks, can't wait.

AmberNectarine · 29/07/2016 12:56

I've always worn Bardot tops, I have one I bought in 2007 still in regular use. I do have good shoulders though.

Big THANKS to QueenC. The E&J dress is perfect. Sunday morning link win.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 29/07/2016 14:18

i like bardot tops, i have quite narrow shoulders despite my beefy arms so they show them off nicely. i prefer the tops to cover the tops of my arms though and i have a couple that are perfect for that

had a daith piercing done yesterday and love it. doesnt even hurt at all so really pleased by that. think im going to get the other side done to match sometime soon Smile

Drywhitethanks · 29/07/2016 15:32

I actually think Bardot tops are a classic, they've been around since the late 50s havent they? Infact I love the whole Bardot top, capri pant, ballet flat look......so classic, simple, chic but I think you need to be petite to pull it off and not my age
I think D Karan said shoulders are the part of a woman's body that stay nice whatever the age, which is why she designs so many shoulder revealing tops. Every time I se e B Streisand big DK fan she's sho wing her shoulders

Drywhitethanks · 29/07/2016 15:38

One dare I ask what a "daith piercing" is?

And ive had lovely afternoon prepping for dinner for 8 in the summer house tomorrow.
