it's a bright sunny day here so wearing a red and white polka dot 50's style dress. why ive never worn these shapes before i dont know because they do wonders for me and hide all the bits i don't want to be seen but show off my best bits at the same time

I need a self absorbed whinge. I hate my stomach! Yes, I know it's not bad considering my age, it's had 3 kids, the stretch marks should be seen as a badge of honour, the muscles underneath the stretched, saggy, scarred skin are fairly firm etc etc etc but I still hate it! I feel better for getting that out! The rest of my body, I'm quite happy with-legs and arms have toned up nicely with cycling and killer body DVD, just the tum lets it all down.

Anyone else need a self absorbed whinge....?

FedUp a few days ago dh suddenly offered to take my engagement ring to Tiffanys to clean it. so I guessed he was getting me a ring and I had also guessed which ring as this is the ring i secretly loved and he knows my taste. But yes I still cried

Shop hope you make the most of your last day, I've enjoyed looking at your pics, you all looked relaxed, happy and rested. Your dh looked well too, considering he's been poorly recently. Holiday looks like the tonic you both needed to get away from the stresses of daily life.

Queen I'm a bit ambivalent about my stomach, it was my best feature pre dc, it was toned and although I didn't have a six pack it was very taut, it's probably now the worst feature of my body but at least it's hidden most of the time.I do get the odd bikini envy, but I'm happy to accept it. We'll compare stomachs at the next MU

A bit overcast here today so wearing cropped flares, high neck victoriana blouse and red Hobbs flats

Bought a ruffled shirt from Primark yesterday to try out, it's not really me as I sent the check APC one back but for £10 I thought I'd push the boundaries. I tried it with black trousers and it looks good. Also bought some denim dresses to wear as beach cover ups.

I've been up since 6am cooking and faffing about. We've got 20 people coming tomorrow for drinks and homemade curry. Done all my prep and anything that can be done in advance.
Now about to sit down with a gin look at what I've missed on here.

Dream, wow sounds amazing! So many of you including Dry entertain so much, I have entertainment envy That used to be us! I think as our kids are getting older, I have been trying to remind myself over the last year of what our pre-dc life was and do a better job of integrating some of it into our post doc life. Our nanny woes of the last year meant we stopped going out as a couple for about 9 months and it just wasn't healthy. Over the last 3 months we have started going out again and our kids are used to it. Next step is to remember that we used to love having friends over so I am very inspired by you all.

Kitty I love Primark for that kind of thing. Testing out something new. I haven't done it in ages though.

QueenC, I am with you. I used to love my stomach. Pre dc I had a 6 pack and lovely abs. Now I have that mum tum thing which I just can't shift and it bugs me. I get bloated very easily and any weight I put on goes there first. Grrr. (For any lurkers judging, yes I still love my kids and I will happily admit to being vain!)

I love the sound of your dinner parties dry and your menu is delicious. I am sat on my behind while my Mum (who is a far superior cook) is cooking a recipe I have found. Frankly I am being inexcusably lazy.

I can't stay away from the Phase 8 sale....will teach myself how to do the neat and tidy links that you all do, otherwise I post ridiculously long ones. Bought a black and white stripe cape/batwing top, which I would wear a white cami underneath. Bought another of their silver necklaces too.

Also - camel leather ankle boots in the Jones sale. Meant to be a/w but wore today!.

Plus a navy blouse from H&M covered in little bows. Quite nice with jeans.

I have deactivated Facebook. I feel liberated I think

queen - I would bloody love one. I hope you are feeling ok now. My tummy isn't what it once was. I am sure you look lovely! - and we are our own harshest critics so often. My indulgent whinge is that I have entirely lost my happy today, which is unusual. I may blame the weather, or something.

Cheerfully today hasn't been too bad at all. I got away with it (didn't mix my drinks, which was probably the key to my success!)

QC I hear you. My stomach is in reasonable repair but I have awful cellulite. Irritating when I am slim and in OK shape. Doubt it has anything at all to do with the never-ending stream of toxins I ingest.

Grr, lost a long post yesterday due to flaky resort wifi!
A few days into our holiday and now in holiday/relax mode. Flaky wifi has kept me off my phone except when in the room which is good, everyone except me is still asleep at the moment so nice and quiet.
Needn't have worried about what to wear in the evening (and hopefully this helps Kitty who I think asked up thread) as tailored shorts are fine, and wore those last night with Gigis and a dressy top. Lots of ladies in dresses with jewelled/beaded flat sandals, a few heels but in the minority. Most men seem to be in tailored shorts and short sleeved shirts with either moccasin or deck style leather, suede or canvas shoes.
Already sleeping better and enjoying not having to juggle everything like at home!

Glad you're having a great time Viva, and welcome back Shop! Sometimes I read on mumsnet people sniping about holiday FB posts, not me!! I love seeing all my friends on their hols all happy and relaxed, especially when I know they have had a tough time and the hols are well needed.

Which leads me to my big holiday news...I have agreed to go on hols with the dpils at Christmas. dh is so excited that I just looked up the cost of the fares and they're so ridiculous that I thought well that's the end of that idea and he said no problem. I think I am still speechless!

In the meanwhile, first fashion dilemma of the day...., we had an impromptu overnight stay with dpils so I am wearing my la Perla slip from our Friday night stay at the hotel. I am hiding upstairs as I don't really want fil to meet my boobs over the cornflakes...

I don't mind seeing holiday pics either on FB-just a little as mine is still 2 weeks away. I can imagine it's slightly annoying if you're not going away at all. FB is for sharing things and I never understand some of the level of wrath of the FB threads.

We are going to South Africa. I can't wait to find out how much a 5 star hotel is for 2 rooms for 2 weeks over Christmas and new year.

i dont mind seeing people's holiday pictures at all, i'm just happy they are having a good time. i think some people take issue with anyone posting anything nice on facebook and take it all as them being braggy and showing off so you know, they would be unhappy whatever got posted. i like to see my friends having a good time and i also like to see pictures of their children having fun. some people are just big miseries!!!
