Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

I walked all round London in my Stans yesterday and my feet are so sore! Not very supportive at all.
I want to get some flat shoes for AW as I don't want to wear Pistols and trainers all the time. Wanted to go to Dune and look at the Rockstud flat copies but didn't realise their Covent Garden store had closed down. Has anyone seen them IRL? Any good?

QueenC1 · 02/09/2016 10:07

I saw them very briefly shop when I nipped into dune the other day whilst dd was in smiggle. They looked ok. Someone has them on a blog as they came up on IG but can't remember who! Do you still have you red ghillie flats?

QueenC1 · 02/09/2016 10:08

When I say ok, I mean nice, not just ok!. I didn't pay much attention to them as I don't do points.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/09/2016 11:55

shop I put some orthotics in my Stans and they really helped, I wore them all around Asia on holiday. I have high arches so the idea was to reduce lower back pain and it worked! Just got some half ones from Boots.

I have been trying to wear hats more, it's definitely easier in summer and I had them on permanently on holiday. I have a couple of fedoras for winter but I do feel silly, they look good on me but don't really fit my style. It seems a shame when you think back several decades and everyone wore hats!

I'm struggling with an A/W wishlist, I think I'm finally at that point where my wardrobe needs hardly anything. I don't think many of this season's trends will suit me, either. All I want are coats, but I'm sure that'll change.

I'm going to Legoland tomorrow... anyone got any tips? We will be taking a picnic to avoid getting ripped off for food. DN(5) wants to get his driving licence, but we heard you had to be 6?

Finally some of you might like this article on CPs :)

FedupNagging · 02/09/2016 13:22

There's a Lairds Hatters where I shop regularly and I always stop to look in the window - never made a purchase Sad. I do wear hats a lot, mostly cloche or trilby style although got very attached to my bobble hat last winter.

I've not seen the Dune shoes irl but they look great in the pictures online helpful!

I was waiting for everyone to return from hols and this very busy week to be over before I started on the MU - we'll liaise Mara Grin Hope you get your T finished soon.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 02/09/2016 13:30

I really like hats but also feel silly wearing them. Need to ease myself in with summer ones which feels easier somehow. I remember Lib wearing one to a MU which looked really good. A fedora style iirc.

Fedup they cancelled my jumpsuit order because of stock issues, as well as the maxi wrap dress. I am really pleased with the 2 tops I bought though wrap and cowl. I also tried the ruched top I linked a while ago but not keen on it on me.

Ah Dry I really like those leopard heels. Sounds like you are being very sensible. I also have the KG shoes on my wishlist - sounds like they could be the MNV shoe of AW.

Mara good luck with your T. Not long to go! Good about the Marant order - something to look forward to wearing as Autumn draws in.

Shop I'm impressed by how much shopping you can do with your DS in tow. Have you considered these red TS shoes? Or are you looking for pointy? I also saw these in Marks - here Also have you seen these Gap trousers ?

Blair only tip would be get there early (Legoland) - it was v busy when we went. Lots of queuing. It was more midsummer though. I think you can get a pass to jump the queues but not sure of cost. Also you can save on entrance fee with vouchers from cereal packs (and maybe elsewhere?). There is a 'toddler area' that DS quite enjoyed (he was 4 at the time) and there was a lot less queuing there. Depends on your DN though and if he wants to go on the big rides.

I think I mostly have what I need for AW too Blair - need to have a shopping break so I can enjoy what I've got for a while.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 02/09/2016 13:35

That's an interesting article Blair but how on earth do you go about identifying your face's CP Confused Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/09/2016 13:56

Thanks so much Bernice. We are about an hour away, so hopefully will be able to get there soon after they open. We have the Cadbury's 2 for 1 vouchers, apparently they only became usable yesterday which is why I think it'll be heaving. We won't be splashing out for fast track passes or anything. I think DN2 (the 5 year old) will want to go on all the rides he can, because his big brother is 10 :) we will see though!

Fedup There you are! Happy birthday! Cake Wine Flowers
(Your DH's facebook post was just lovely by the way) Hope you're having a fab day.

shopafrolic · 02/09/2016 14:23

Those trousers look worth a try Bernice at a 33" inseam (hoping they look better IRL than in pics as the reviews are fab). Thanks. Not keen on the shoes though sorry.
QueenC I have still got both my black and my red ghillies. I love the red but tend to wear them more for going out as they are a bit of a faff to tie. I might keep my eyes out for some grey snakeskin flats (pointed) rather than red. Haven't seen anything right yet. Bored of the whole skate shoe thing.
Happy birthday Fedup Cake Flowers Wine

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/09/2016 14:32

happy birthday fedup Thanks Cake Star Wine

i am a big lover of hats, especially cloche type ones. i have quite a lot of hats, they just seem to suit me, dp says i just have the right face for wearing hats. i enjoy wearing them especially when it's cold and i like that they add an extra dimension to what i'm wearing

shopafrolic · 02/09/2016 14:33

Top tip on the Stan's Thanks Blair

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/09/2016 15:28

Bernice I don't know about the face CP thing! She makes it look easy.

shop these are the ones I got.

shopafrolic · 02/09/2016 17:01

Oh and Bernice DS was well trained from an early age and is fairly good as long as I don't take too long.

justasecond · 02/09/2016 17:19

Happy birthday fed up Cake hope you are having a lovely day
shop I have seen the dune flats irl. They are nice. I was tempted by the khaki ones but don't need any more pointy flats. Have not even worn they givenchy ones yet.
Mara good luck with finishing the T word. Glad the outnet stuff worked out they all looked like good buys.
Dry I love both those shoes.
Don't think I need much for a/w either atm but I know I am bored of skinny jeans. I feel like a change. I like the idea of a straighter slightly crop length.

shopafrolic · 02/09/2016 17:58

OK so I've got three pairs of trousers to try - the Massimo ones aren't quite as wide legged as planned but I've sized up for slouch. Aim is to keep one pair - that MUST happen.
Massimo houndstooth joggers sized up
Bernice's GAP recommendation in grey
Massimo pleat front sized up in black

shopafrolic · 02/09/2016 17:59

Please make me stick to that...... DF is back in hospital so I need to be watched.

shopafrolic · 02/09/2016 18:03

Can someone buy these - none in my size......
IM boots

libertydoddle · 02/09/2016 21:59

We'll keep an eye on you shop. Go easy on yourself, it's s tough time Flowers

I love hats and yes, I did wear a grey Fedora style hat to a MU once Bernice. IME what puts me off wearing them more often are the following issues....

  1. they blow off your head with v little wind. Once upon a time well dressed ladies had hat pins...I'm baffled as to how these work. What do you stick the pin into?
  2. Fedora styles (my favourite) get in other people's way in rush hour in the Tube
  3. no where to put them at meetings, in cafes etc. Generally you hang your jacket/coat on the back of your chair. WTF do you put a hat????
  4. following on above, who has room at home for hat boxes???
  5. I have lost several when drunk Blush
  6. everyone comments when you wear one. Makes me feel v self conscious.

All that said I do plan to experiment with a beret this year.

Happy birthday fedup CakeWineFlowers. Hope you had a lovely day.

I had a day off work today and had a lovely day out with DD and a fabulous old friend and her DD's. Feeling tired but happy now Smile.

Morning Voguettes! FedUp I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday! I loved loved loved your dh's Facebook post. What a lovely man!Smile

Shop, deep breaths lovey.

So the Blingy household has survived our first few days back at school. I am like a major general in the mornings because our routine now involves everyone getting up 30 minutes earlier. I have been at home this week so Monday will be interesting when I have to fit work in too. I think the only way it will work is to have entire outfit chosen and laid out the night before like I do for the dcs.

Relaxing day at home here, I need to find my fancy dress outfit for a party tonight!

Hope you're having lovely mornings. Try to will myself up and into the gym.Hmm

Dreamqueen · 03/09/2016 12:18

Happy birthday for yesterday Fedup

QueenC1 · 03/09/2016 13:01

Ooh, there's a definite autumnal nip in the air. We're off to a local outdoor concert later so will be donning wellies and waterproofs.

fedup happy belated birthday. Hop you had a lovely day Wine Cake Flowers

Ive seen lots of lovely hats online so may try some on next week when shopping. Cloche styles tend to suit me best although the trouble is I spend most of my time in my barbour or cycling jacket Grin

Like some of the rest of you, I'm not sure that I need much for a/w. I need to drag out the box from under the bed and check exactly what I've got. I'm looking forward to wearing my toast tops again for work and my purple and pine green cardigans. I'd like a cobalt jumper and I'd like a navy going out top and also something in damson purple colour. And possibly some new boots. And maybe a grey coat. Not much then Grin

Everyonelovessparkles · 03/09/2016 13:10

Happy birthday for yesterday fedup WineCakeFlowers

I like hats and think they do suit me, I'm always tempted to buy one but just not sure if I'd ever wear it. I like the wide brimmed floppy ones (not sure what they're official name is!) but maybe I'll reconsider one for this year.

Hope you make it to the gym blingy. I need to get back into exercising as am feeling 'softer' than a few months ago just need to get a routine going...
