Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

Love that Maje Amber tempted

Longislandicetee · 21/08/2016 22:26

Your host is right Shop, stand tall and proudEnvy It's a bugger though because standing up photos with me are practically impossible! casually remembers that Shop is twice her height

Marsha that's a fair point! I am hoping if I get the bracelet then dh will realise I also like the ringGrin. greedy

HappyGirlNow · 21/08/2016 22:43

fedup I also have the FCUK jumpsuit, love it, shame the colour doesn't suit you!

shop be tall and be proud.. I am just under 5'10" and I spent years slouching - but I love being tall so flaunt it now - why not, there's nothing to do about it but just accept and enjoy Grin

kittyhello · 22/08/2016 09:25

Shop I thought you looked lovely and I preferred your dress, especially with those shoes. Stand tall and be proud of your height. I'm a shorty and would love a few extra inches in height.

Blingy just buy it, you know you want to Grin

Amber great coat

Oops double post. Blush

Dreamqueen · 22/08/2016 14:24

Just back from 4 hours intense shopping with DIL. I'm exhausted and all I have to show for it is a pack of trainer socks from H&M! Spent a fortune on DS. Why is it easier to fing really nice mens stuff? The autumn colours are definitely not me so I'm going to make do with what I already have. My purse will thank me.

Blingy that bracelet is divine.
Envious face on here, (only kidding) it is beautiful.

Amber I love that coat.

Shop you are beautiflu and tall, never stoop, the rest of us short asses are so envious of your height and never ending legs.

Post weekend diet has been scuppered by the need for a G&T on return from shopping. Lunch was leftover fish pie and gin. Will start tomorrow,:)

QueenC1 · 22/08/2016 16:29

Quick ciao from me. Having a fab time but a bit sunned out today. It really is billionaires playground in this area (we're in a different area than last week) with super yachts aplenty. Browsed round the shops yesterday-prada, gucci, hermes etc etc but didn't spot any celebs. Spotted lots of women (and men) who looked like if they stood next to a naked flame that their faces would melt!! Kept it real today by going to a water park which we all loved. Lots of tired grumpy children now though!

shopafrolic · 22/08/2016 16:59

Thanks for all the tall girl love. Lesson learnt for next time. Smile

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2016 18:04

Wish I was tall! Did like the Versace dress though (have a black one from same collection!)

Drywhitethanks · 22/08/2016 20:13

Thinking about autumn clothes now....hate this mid season wilderness. No more black this A/W. apart from boots

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2016 20:21

Took delivery of this dress today. Great for now and with tights in winter. Love it.

shopafrolic · 22/08/2016 20:42

Are you home Amber?
I won't be in London now on the 3rd Sept. Am coming up the week after but will be spending the day with my niece who is over for the weekend. So now no time for a catch up.
Any ideas of cool Aunty stuff to do with a young teenage niece in London much appreciated.

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2016 20:48

I'm going to Billy Joel concert that day shop, so I'm no arbiter of cool.

Seriously though, Oxford St TS always a winner, plus Carnaby street right round the corner for Monki etc, plus Kiko for makeup heaven on Regent St. Some cool teen shops there. One of the burger chains (five guys/Byron) would probably go down well. Other option could be Camden? My niece always loved that (she's 22 now though, so it's all Shoreditch jam jar cocktails these days).

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2016 20:49

Yes, got home in early hours, btw. Off to Sicily on Thurs, then France after BH weekend.

Longislandicetee · 22/08/2016 21:02

Ooh get you Amber!

So having been on a work dress ban for the last year, I have gone a bit dress mad....Grin

Orange DvF, red DvF, and, blue DvF! I need to figure out which 3 dresses I am going to get rid of now?

I didn't stop there though...!

libertydoddle · 22/08/2016 21:10

My sister really enjoyed West End shows the various times she was over Shop. We went to Wicked the last time she was over and we both LOVED it.

I have decided to return the Marant jacket - I kept dithering so decided it mustn't be love...I may regret this....

However, I have hopped on board the Outnet 40% off sale and ordered....
Suede biker
Raybans
and a MK top

And I have just ordered some Toast brown wool culottes from Oxfam on-line which Bernice sent me a link for Flowers

Uniqlo sweaters arrived today, both lovely. Went for large instead of medium and the extra bit of slouchiness is nice. [[http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/173806 Olive skirt is going back]] unfortunately. Material looks really cheap and the pleats don't hang well.

Fab dresses Blingy and love that biker lib

I know Blingy, but I figured while I've got a month off I may as well make the most of it, right?! What else did you buy?!

DH sent me a text today while I was out 'you have a million parcels'. The perils of him being off work!

Longislandicetee · 22/08/2016 21:55

Sorry got distracted! Amber, good for you! Lib, that biker jacket is bloomin gorgeous!

I finally got my hands on a Zarita. I have wanted one for about 2/3 years, but stubbornly refused to pay full price for it. On a lace theme I got myself this Michael Kors lace dress which I am not convinced will suit me but i like. I got it with an eye on our Christmas holiday, and also got this other Michael Kors.

AmberNectarine · 22/08/2016 22:03

I paid £60 for my Zarita! I wear a lot of DVF for work, easy to put on in the mornings! They do the best sample sales - if I get another invite I will share, but my lovely friend has quit her job at the mag that inspired this thread (gasp) so may not happen now .

I have a jewellery thread going blingy, if you can add some value?

Loved the holiday, but it has been great to catch up with my DPs today. I sometimes worry we live too much in each other's pockets, but they are fab, so why not?

Drywhitethanks · 22/08/2016 22:18

Great purchases.
Amber that Gap reiss will be so versatile .
Blingy love all of the dresses especially the red which is a bit different for DVF .
Liberty love the suede jacket. I love Uniqlo merino, wash really well and downt feel itchy, no bobbling either.
Shop Covent garden or Camden. Did also loves Brighton as you know, but a bit far for you and niece in a day I guess.

I need work dresses and skirts, need to be washable, pref pockets, pref a line skirts just above the Knee......specific moi? Would also like to invest in R and B 50/50s this year.

Longislandicetee · 22/08/2016 23:23

While everyone is not looking, I will report the rest of my purchasesGrin The last 2 posts were my Outnet order.

From Selfridges...

Another MK dress - so sue me!!

Aquazzura shoes which I am a little in love with.

these Manolo copies of the infamous Mary Janes.

libertydoddle · 22/08/2016 23:40

I think it's lovely you get on so well with your DPs Amber.

Blingy great haul of dresses. And shoes!! You really suit Michael Kors.

Dry I need the same skirts, will hunt with you Smile

£60 for Zarita?!Envy

I agree with Lib it's lovely you get on with the dps. I say that coming from a similar type of family though and that's what I tell dh.Grin

Some other things winging their way to me bought in the last month.....

MK watch for my niece

and this one too

and this charming for the bracelet I gave her on her 13th birthday.

I am a bit excited and it's still a few months away so I will need to calm down!

While looking at the Sabo stuff for dn, this Thomas Sabo strap watch popped into the basket. I have wanted it for ages so snapped it up when it came at a discount.

I also got these foldable flats and this playsuit for my holiday.

Vintage Gucci nylon bag is also on its way. I have a similar one but with gold hardware. I am actually tempted to just get a new Jackie.

Right that's it confession session over!!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 23/08/2016 11:39

Love it when Blingy has a spree Grin Lovely DVF dresses, and I like those KG shoes too.

Lib hope the culottes work out.

So now AW purchases are sneaking in, we could have a round up - what were your most useful / most worn SS items - for holiday and also UK summer?

For me - as the weather hasn't been great overall, I've worn my blue Other stories shirt dress a lot as well as this Monsoon dress. These Topshop sandals have been good when the sun actually shone. And these Gap chinos have been a nice change from jeans. I always wear my denim jacket a lot in the UK summer too.

I think I've decided not to bother with 'summer clothes' as such in future and just have stuff I can wear year round - with tights / jumpers in winter etc. I'll just have a few 'high summer' bits for holidays and the odd hot day here (like today!)

Having said that, I just bought this very summery dress today - thought it could do for summer weddings next year with red heels if I find any I can walk in

I also had a look in Whistles following Lib's suggestion that they sell longer length culottes - so I got these which are good Flowers to Lib and 100% cotton which is unusual for Whistles Grin

Dream I had the same dilemma with my pinafore dress, I think it will work better in AW.

Have a good holiday Blair and welcome back from hols Amber and Dry
