Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

Never been away at Christmas Marsha so can't offer any suggestions. We are going to Spain in October half term but that's a lot earlier and even then I don't think it will be really hot but hoping warm enough for us!
Liberty you always seem very organised with clothes and outfit planning. I really need some time to go through all my things and have a good sort but just never have time. I've got a busy few weeks now until September but then need to try and put aside a bit of time as all my cupboards and draws are a bit of a mess. I think I need to prioritise that over other things that need doing in the house and get it all sorted before autumn.

maradesbois · 15/08/2016 08:50

Morning Voguettes,

dream the dress is gorgeous! Love it, and 100% cotton too.

lib glad you're not keeping the M&S stuff. Lots of polyester in there, leave it to the golf club captains! I didn't mind the shoes actually but think you can do better all round. Am still faithful to M&S cotton knickers though

Marsha second what lib said about South Africa for winter sun, the lack of jet lag compensates for long flight. Think Dubai is always hot but couldn't think of anywhere less Marsha.

Am in a fashion wilderness, been wearing my summer 'loungewear' and havianas on a daily basis as not really left the house properly for a few days trying to get some work done. Went for a run on Saturday though for first time in ages, it felt great. Only 5k ish but going to keep it regular and build up my distance again.

libertydoddle · 15/08/2016 10:34

Thanks Viva I don't feel organised! I've realised I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I get stressed by waste and feel cross with myself when I have things that I don't wear enough because I don't have the right jacket or shoes or whatever. And I'm a tightwad so resent paying loads for the perfect thing especially if the perfect thing is an 'invisible item' like navy trousers for example.

Mara there is a lot of poly in M&S - very annoying.

Marsha when Mara said Dubai isn't you my immediate thought was that Cape Town is very you!! You'd love it - check out Camp's Bay. Amazing food and wine too.

morning all

my cat is ill, she's not in pain but she's not right so it's off to the vets we go.poor little love Sad

the last thing i bought in m&s was a velvet playsuit Grin

going to the town centre with my sister today to pick up any bits before i have my minor surgery on wednesday. its not a stressful of big procedure but ds is worried it's going to hurt me, bless him. ive tried to reassure him that it will be fine but i dont think he quite believes me

peachmama · 15/08/2016 14:36

onetime love the sound of a velvet playsuit!. I did buy some really pretty flip flops from M&A last week....much sparkly and might save them for next summer. Good luck for your hospital trip - may you recover very quickly Flowers.

dream really like that dress, bet it looks great on.

Well done on the run marade Smile.

This thread (and you all) have really inspired me with outfit planning and sorting. While I had a baby-free hour this morning I had a good sort out in my every day wardrobe....all maternity stuff put away, all other clothes suitably 'filed' and outfits put together. Sports gear all sorted through and even my dog walking wardrobe has had a little overhaul and tidy. Feeling cleansed!. just need autumn to arrive

MarshaBrady · 15/08/2016 18:51

Thanks so much for holiday suggestions Lib and Mara, Camps Bay does look sensational, will check it out.

Fedup lovely shirt, impressed with A/W purchases now!

Great dress Dream

Good call on the shoes Lib Wink

Vega Spain in October sounds lovely

One all the best for Wed, I'm sure it will be fine, but always a bit nerve wracking

MarshaBrady · 15/08/2016 18:52

Peach that does sounds satisfying, I love this time of year. probably say that about all times of the year except cold a March

shopafrolic · 15/08/2016 21:17

Love a wardrobe clear out. Still trying to figure out how to do it for a living. Evening all. No real fashion news other than I've got my hands on the new Chanel nail gloss which I'm excited to try.
DS has had a fun day splashing around with his buddies on a water slide. DF had a fall on Saturday night, DM only just told me Hmm - didn't want to worry me while I was in Norfolk. He doesn't sound good so I've asked her to book a GP visit tomorrow.
One hope all goes well. Sorry to be so lousy at catching up. I am skim reading at best.

libertydoddle · 15/08/2016 22:13

Poor DF shop Flowers

shopafrolic · 15/08/2016 22:42

I have another AW item I would like to find. Some wide legged trousers with a bit of slouch to wear with trainers and a tee or slim black polo neck. With some wool content. Charcoal grey or black.

libertydoddle · 15/08/2016 23:12

Check out Cos shop. They have lots of slouchy trousers and generally good fabrics.

My wardrobe analysis is ongoing...Decided the key gaps are pretty flats, a jacket, navy trousers and tan brogues. The right versions if these should help with lots of outfits. To get the ball rolling I have ordered gold ballet flats from Clark's and a brown Marant jacket from the Outnet.

thanks all

shop sorry to hear your DF is still struggling and unwell, i hope you parents can get the support they need for him to be able to relax, rest and recuperate. it must be so hard on all of you Thanks

BerniceBobsHerHair · 16/08/2016 13:27

Hello all

Shop I am sorry to hear that about your DF.

Did you get some slouchy trousers from Atterley a while back? Think they were more summery but not sure if you kept or not.

Wardrobe analysis sounds good Lib! Have you seen these Boden flats - they are pretty!

Jogging sounds good Mara - I need to get back into it come Sept.

Thanks for linking those shoes for me as an idea of heel height / style - I think 7cm may still be a bit high for me.

I do quite like both of these - apologies M&S links coming up Wink

Berry

To those of you who wear bodycon dresses (Amber Blair and Blingy spring to mind straightaway) do you wear them casually at all, or are they just work / going out. I have my eye on one (don't want to link atm as bargainous) but not sure I can justify wear if it can't be worn on SAHM days.

I am looking for a pair of leopard shoes - after my Jerome Dreyfuss disappointment. I've bought these (not arrived yet) but want something more casual, like trainers. Let me know if you see any.

shopafrolic · 16/08/2016 16:34

They were good Bernice but too big and then Atterley went into administration.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 16/08/2016 17:18

Atterley is returning sometime soon! But will be different apparently.

Bernice I don't wear bodycon dresses casually at the moment, except on holiday. But that's probably partly because I default to jeans and t-shirt as weekend uniform (something I should change!) and partly because I associate them with work (the me&em ones particularly, not cocktail dresses Grin). I would though, if striped or a bright colour. They can look great with trainers, Baukjen and Boden style them like that I think.

My gorgeous couture dress arrived and it is, well, gorgeous! So happy with it. And my sister got me these jeans from Topshop which I'm keeping and look great with my Uterque shoes.

Lib those buys sound fab, do you have links? I know you wanted a Marant jacket for a while!

Off to Costco now to buy birthday cakes for the office.

shopafrolic · 16/08/2016 18:45

Is it today BLair??? Shock Have I forgotten?

VivaVegas · 16/08/2016 21:20

Bernice I have those Topshop shoes and really like them, wear them wot work with black dresses.

libertydoddle · 16/08/2016 22:46

Blair is it your birthday? I'll link jacket and shoes as soon as I get on laptop.

One hope all goes well tomorrow. How is onecat?

Bernice the Boden shoes are pretty but I can't do ankle straps and every pair of Boden shoes I have ever tried have been v uncomfortable so I given up on them. Like those leopard print ones you have ordered a lot.

Longislandicetee · 17/08/2016 09:06

Morning all! Isn't it Blair's birthday tomorrow - 18th? If not, happy birthday Blair!!

Have barely posted over the last few days as rl has been a bit of a whirlwind. The party was a massive success which went on to just before dawn. Dh absolutely loved it even when on the Sunday we had to be up to host a post party brunch for 12. I did spare him a birthday dinner for a family member.Grin This week saw dh on the receiving end of something I had been planning for him for 3 years and so it's been quite emotional few days. I have one more surprise for him on Saturday then I think I can sign off these celebrations!! Phew!

I told dh that I think I have been holding myself back on the clothes front because I wanted to put aside as much money as possible for his surprise but it's game on now. He's very afraid.Grin

By the way the orange HL dress looked great on, lots of compliments, although i felt very bloated in it as I had pms but overall good - thanks again Amber

Bernice your question on body con dresses i tend to wear them only for work and going out. For a more casual look I tend to wear more A line dresses because I think the silouhette is softer. Very curious about what you're thinking of though'

Dreamqueen · 17/08/2016 09:16

Happy birthday Blair

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/08/2016 09:57

Agh sorry guys, I didn't manage to catch up on the thread last night! Another birthday false start! It's tomorrow. Today is my last day in the office before holiday so I had to bring cake today. Sorry!!! :)

Will now read back properly!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/08/2016 11:47

Blingy you were right Grin So glad the party went well, it looked fab from the pics your friends put up on fb. You looked great in the HL dress. Your DH is very lucky!
