Evening all. Ensconsed at DDad's kitchen table - feels very odd with them not here. Especially as no-one has thrust a glass of red wine into my hand yet. Wine

Hello Flora. Are you Flora from the perfume threads?? It sounds like you have all the crepey credentials, anyway!

BTM - hope you made it to the hotel spa - it sounds like you needed a bit of R&R.

Strops - I'm chuckling about the holy chiropractor, and the miracle Laying On Of Hands. But seriously, what a relief.

Here's Mr Toad, by the way. Handsome chap, isn't he? Smile He bounced back quite well from being vomited all over at Brownie Camp, circa 1975.

Herbs I third, fourth, fifth (lost count) you and dp buggering off and dealing with it when it happens.... I may not be best for this advice however.

Cremolafoam · 27/07/2016 21:29

I love Mr Toad.Smile

bigTillyMint · 27/07/2016 21:43

OMG CV, Mr Toad is fabulous! He has to be the Crepey mascot. I love him!

Herbs, what a tricky situation. I also think it would be relatively easy to get back from Rome quickly, but if he feels she might be going, maybe he just wants to be there with her?

Stropps, he sounds like he's worth every penny. Shame on the NHS.

HI Flora, you sound like you would fit right in hereSmile

MI that is a very nice picture. Well done.

Lalsy, could that mug do another turn? Grin Or something bike related - he is a cyclist isn't he?

I am feeling even fatter after a lovely meal with DD who is on chatty formSmile The spa worked wonders on us both!

florascotianew · 27/07/2016 21:49

Thank you, Crem, for your kind welcome, and yes, CV, I do sometimes post on perfume threads. Am very keen on scents though find myself getting increasingly difficult to please. Sign of advancing years? Rather ironically, given that I like retro scents, have just discovered that I love Piguet's 'Futur'.

I broke my proper specs the other day and am relying on cheap reading glasses. They are better than nothing but far from stylish - so will go armed with new prescription to the site MI recommends.

I can't claim credit for care of aged parent. They have wonderful carers who do most of the hard work. I could not do what they do every day with such good grace.

motherinferior · 27/07/2016 22:23

Lalsy, you could do worse than look at the BL/RHS prints. Or this firm does a lot of museum prints ready-framed - I know because the V&A custom print service is out of commission but they referred me to that lot which does their framing for them anyway.

You may of course not actually want an early 19th century East India Company pic or a calligraphic lion...Grin

OMG, fab link, MI! Thank you.
Aw.....Mr Toad....yes to him being our Crepey mascot. Welcome, Flora, hope you stick around.

Stropperella · 27/07/2016 22:43

I

Stropperella · 27/07/2016 22:44

Ah, that hearty thing didn't work, but you know what I mean.. Grin

Lalsy · 27/07/2016 22:57

Love Mr Toad. And love that link, MI. Seem to have lost the mug, BTM, but like your thinking Grin. He is a cyclist but has very little time for it so not sure what he would use. I wish I could give him weekends off......

Spa sounds like a brilliant idea, BTM, especially given your main mission up there.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/07/2016 23:05

Welcome Flora, please stay and witter with us - the more the merrier.

I can no longer look at MN at work, so have to catch up in the evening. Which takes quite a long time.

GGG I am sadly not sure I am going to be able to make tomorrow. People have cottoned on to my not being at work next week and I am having worked dumped on me with ridiculous deadlines at a rate of knots. I will text you around midday if it looks like I can escape.

I had my punctuation corrected today. It felt like I was 12. And I think his was wrong anyway, so I ignored it. I am so in need of leave...

GiddyGiddyGoat · 27/07/2016 23:40

Shame Mrs S, really hope you can get away and join us... so yes, text me.

Rose, Herbs, shall I just see you in the restaurant / queue? Whoever gets there first should queue... I should be there a bit after 2 if all goes well?
Shall I pm you my mobile number Rose?

motherinferior · 28/07/2016 08:41

Flora, take a look online at the frames. I have the small cat-eye ones though they are quite large on me. I always think my face is enormous. It's not.

On a rather less S&B note Lalsy, was it Skechers you recommended for walking-about shoes? What with my holiday wardrobe tending more to the sturdy waterproofs and thick socks than floaty linen and flimsy sandals....

I am however starting to plan India trip. Ha.

OP posts:
magimedi · 28/07/2016 08:55

Sketchers are v.v. comfortable BUT they all seem to have memory foam as the inner lining now & it can make them very hot.

Rosebag · 28/07/2016 09:22

Yes, GGG I'll be there. Have texted you. Do come MrsS if you can get away. And anyone else who decides last minute!

Welcome flora Do hope you decide to stay. We do talk about S&B sometimes, promise!

herbs we had all this last summer. I'm with tilly on this...we do have to think about DPs feelings too. But there's no right or wrong way is there? Is there any way DP could have an open date return air ticket?

Love Mr Toad ....could we make him an honorary Crepey?

crem stropps any progress health wise?
beachy any news?

lalsy men are so hard to buy for. The last three years for my DH...Ugg Slippers...wears them every evening...success; electric toothbrush...not romantic but uses it....leather messenger bag...hates it. Hmm

I am off to take DD to the theatre and to meet ConS. Then mini MU. Hope it's going to lift my mood. Felt very low yesterday. Think it has something to do with the empty nest. Don't get me wrong...I'm pushing them away with gusto, but I'm not sure what I'm actually going to do in September...if every week is like this, with cancellations and being blown out all the time... Gah

CointreauVersial · 28/07/2016 09:35

Sketchers are amazing, and I don't find them hot. I have "difficult" feet, and bought a pair in desperation in Amsterdam last year when it got too wet for sandals; they are so comfy. They will be my go-to shoe for any major walking in Cali. They have a huge range; mine are plain black with white laces and soles, as the more, er, jazzy designs didn't appeal.

herbaceous · 28/07/2016 09:39

Oh yes, we'll d whatever DP wants. He's going to see her today, and will take a view. Options include: carry on as normal, we go and DP flies back, just DS and I go, or none of us go.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 28/07/2016 09:52

All good on the dd1 front. Friend is much better and 'looks like herself again'. The last message said 'I like living at the hospital. We've got a computer here, room service and the coffee is free' Grin. She's certainly a 'every cloud has a silver lining' kind of girl!

motherinferior · 28/07/2016 10:40

Anyone try the slipon ones that look OK in black?

OP posts:
Lalsy · 28/07/2016 10:41

Grin Beachy. she is a grand girl.

I had Skechers but the bumpy things wore down too fast and I sent them back. I have very awkward feet though. I now wear some expensive German sandal make that someone here recommended (can check name) - they did every day in Spain and my feet were fine - and at the other end of the spectrum, Slazenger boys "Wave" sandals, v ugly, very comfy, yours for a tenner (seriously recommend). I also have Land's End and Hotter trainers Blush. And Merrell proper waking sandals........Just call me frumpy Imelda.

Enjoy mini MU - I was hopingI might join you but this week has vanished fast, with much packing kerfuffle from ds. He is on his mammoth coach journey now.

Rose, all very discombobulating.

Lalsy · 28/07/2016 10:42

MI, are you heading West?

herbaceous · 28/07/2016 10:45

I'll be there! With DS. Will go via a purveyor of sticker books to keep him entertained. Also need to buy a DVD for his BFF's birthday. But there seem to be no DVD shops any more, other than Asda, Tesco, etc. May have to resort to Westfield. This would also mean some train action could be involved...

motherinferior · 28/07/2016 10:47

Beachy, your DD1 is terrific!

OP posts:
motherinferior · 28/07/2016 10:52

West?

Cremolafoam · 28/07/2016 12:11

Delighted to hear dd is thriving Beachy.! Where are they planning to go after this?( well, after friend is recovered)

I am still sore of lower back, with cystitis and constant weeing.Sad dont think that particular anti-biotic has worked. Off to phone doc.

Stropps how are you today? I am so pleased for you about the Chiro.Smile
A revelation.it did mot help that mine had no sympathy for me and implied constantly that i was too blame for sore back. Which is why i took against chiros. Very unreasonable of me.
Bon appétit to lurching ladies!WineEnvy
