Wotcha Rudy! Nice to see you.

Scotland. With vast rucksack, compass, teeny backpacker stove, the works. MY BABY.....NOOOOOOOOO.

Hope dd's mate is better soon, Beachy, and they have a lovely trip.

magimedi · 27/07/2016 17:04

Pleased to hear your DD is being looked after, BD.

Rose - thank you for that post. I find it all too easy to get down about the state of the world. Not helped, I think, by having no young ones close at hand. You have cheered me up with your good sense about finding the good things/beauty in life. Flowers

Cremolafoam · 27/07/2016 17:10

Hello lovely Rudy. Would you like an invite to my party? I don't think i got your email address, Smile pm me if you have a mo.Flowers

Flippn hec Beachy Id be having a conniption. You are marvellously sanguine. Very glad to hear dd is not having to spend a night on her ownio in a scary hostel. Gulp. Get well soon to poor wee friend as well.

MI , what a plonker. Did she really think shed discovered some new angle that we haven't all seen before.
Yawn. You were very patient with her.

Still not feeling superdooper.. Boss has been looming today in helicopter fashion. Sad more bad news work-wise. Fed up.

Blackduck · 27/07/2016 17:27

Oh no Cremo re work, what now?

motherinferior · 27/07/2016 17:51

Cremo, you never invited me eitherBlush

Collymollypuff · 27/07/2016 17:59

Thanks Crem. Sad re work. Bastards.

herbaceous · 27/07/2016 18:29

Cremo, you do have a Marvellous turn of phrase. I've no idea what a 'conniption' is, but now I want one too.

I suppose with offspring in the far flung, you just have to assume the best, or go barmy. Thai hospitals are probably v good these days, not like something out of Midnight Express.

DS being something of a precocious little shite today. Have just told him off for speaking to me rudely. He had the grace to blush.

MiL has been admitted to hospital. Still can't eat. Does not bode well.

bigTillyMint · 27/07/2016 18:44

Sorry to hear that Herbs.

Beachy, glad the hosp situation sounds under control.

Cremo sorry about work. Again.

Lalsy, a walking holiday??? That would be my DCs idea of torture!

Have had a v relaxing afternoon in the spa with DD, now off to eat. And it is sunny here. Again!

Lalsy · 27/07/2016 18:47

I would have said the same about ds, BTM. Extraordinarily cheap though and healthyish assuming none of the disasters I am imagining come to pass and they eat something other than hot dogs.

Oh crap, crem, what have the fuckwits done now?

And Herbs....

florascotianew · 27/07/2016 18:56

Crepeys - am very very sorry to intrude when you have big and serious problems to deal with.

BUT a few threads ago there was reference to London opticians who supplied some very stylish spectacle frames. MI, I think, had purchased some from them. Forgive me if I am wrong.

If it is not too much trouble, would be most grateful for the name of the company. Many thanks in advance.

If it matters, my crepy qualifications are being over 50 with a very aged parent with serious health issues. Seems to be the story of our lives.

All best ...

addle · 27/07/2016 18:59

Beachy that's great news.

Btm - lovely hear of Dd being good with sm, thought sorry they both upset

Mi you spot on about elliptical
Phrase

Heard today that dh although doing well will still be in boot and on crutches fr another 4 weeks

Crem sorry about work - what's going on?

Cremolafoam · 27/07/2016 19:24

What MI are you joking? I am sure I sent one to you.BlushBlushBlush
Anyone else? Shitola!!!

motherinferior · 27/07/2016 19:27

Flora, how nice. Do stay awhile. How is your AP?

The firm is Cubitts and I have been v pleased with it. Mr Inferior thinks it's a Bit Trendy. Mr GGG bought a pair Smile

Cremo wossup?

Btw I have SOLVED DP's birthday present. A pic. I like it too.

motherinferior · 27/07/2016 19:28

Don't worry, Crem, I was going to crash it.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 27/07/2016 19:34

Hey, Flora, was the opticians Cubitts?
Beachy, glad things seem to be ok-ish in Thailand.
Crem, sorry to hear of more work awfulness.
Addle, hope your work thingy turns out less tricky than it sounds it might do.
Appaz, chiropractors can work miracles! I have had only manageable pain today and can walk and have not howled once. I think the chiropractor's second name is Jesus. Saw him for a second session this afternoon and even he was amazed when I walked in smiling, rather than crawling in snuffling to myself like yesterday. He crunched a lot of things today and now I feel as though I could sleep for a week. I now have no idea why chiropractors have a bad rap. Will see him again on Friday. It is essentially 'going private' and is v pricey, but what he has done so far has been worth every penny. The MSK clinic which previously had no appointments have now come up with one in Sept, probably because my GP told them he didn't want me lying on the floor howling in his surgery until he felt obliged to call a vet to come and put me out of my misery.
BTM, sorry to hear that both dd and dm were upset. :(

herbaceous · 27/07/2016 19:34

What with the MiL worry, DP is positing the notion that DS and I go to Italy on Saturday on our own. I'm saying he should come with us, and fly back if necessary. Otherwise even if the End is nigh, there'll be a lot of sitting around while aunts (many Irish) dominate the situation. I feel I should stay here too, but a) it would be such a waste of the holiday money, and b) I WANT TO GO.

Stropperella · 27/07/2016 19:35

X-posts, MI Smile

florascotianew · 27/07/2016 19:35

Thank you so much, MI. I'll look them up. And thanks for your welcome; I appreciate it.

Aged parent is over 90 and remarkable in many ways but very frail and therefore very worrying in others. Life seems to be one long series of GP/hospital appointments, which is fantastic evidence of all that NHS can do, for which I am very grateful, but deeply depressing on a personal level. It's all about damage limitation; AP is not going to get substantially better.

Cremolafoam · 27/07/2016 19:37

Snort! Bloody liggers. Story of my life.Grin

Hi Flora, you are most welcome to hang out, and you are not interrupting at alll. Trendy specs are The Thing. Grin

Of work smirk. Bloody management want me to keep written time sheets for every employee ( my section every sodding day. WTAF. They've to be signed off daily. Weekly I could manage, but daily is a load of wank. this because they refuse to install a computerised clocking system because they've spend all the money innit. Tubes.

Stropperella · 27/07/2016 19:38

Herbs, your plan is the better one. Dp should go with you and return early if necessary.

Cremolafoam · 27/07/2016 20:25

I agree. herbs he ought to go. It shouldn't be too difficult to get back from Rome, I'd have thoughtHmm
As you might remember dsis was in the same position with her MIl, who did pass away while the whole family were in America. They had a bit of trouble getting back from Orlando, but did not regret going. Just a thought. So sorry poor mil is so ill.

Flora, I'm sure it's like walking on eggshells , with AP being so frail. You sound like you are doing everything you can to make her/his life easier. I can relate to all those dreary hospital visits. Just parking the car is enough to finish me off usually. Flowersto you.

Stropps, the Chiro is a miracle man. I really really hope he has solved it for you. Just be careful and don't go crushing any bins or anything.Shock can you send me your email address for sending of invite please.
I'm going to have a sodding breakdown about missing people off my group email. Gah!

Lalsy · 27/07/2016 20:31

Stropps, that is great news. How was dd on hol, btw?

Flora, hello, do stick around and chat Wine.

Herbs, does he want to be with his dm if this is It? Or does he feel he ought to or is worried about logistics of getting back? This all sounds very stressful, hope you find a solution.

Crem, they sound like idiots. What a waste of time.

hattymattie · 27/07/2016 20:34

Herbs - I second going!

Lalsy · 27/07/2016 20:34

And MI, that is a great idea. Ummm, i have just realised dh is 50 next week. I ought to do something about it. Any brainwaves welcome. For context, we take low key to new depths on the birthday front. And are usually away - one year I got the (nice) mug out of the car roofbox where it had rested since his last birthday and re-presented it.
