Oh, BD, so sorry to hear that. Flowers for you, DM and DD.

I hope all the holidays, preparations, etc., are moving along nicely? DH has just left a note on the kitchen table, saying ESTA in large letters. Now that we have finally booked our first night in SF we can sort this.

Another lovely day here so I have been for a swim, and DH has gone out with his cycling buddies. He took the 5 yo DGS out for a cycle yesterday and they both had a fantastic time, with DGS's skills improving all the time - he now informs me that "I am better than you, grandma!". Nice not to have any child minding today, plus the house is clean so I am going to do some window shopping.

Good luck with your DS's clothes shopping, BTM. I was rather taken aback on how much some posters spent on their DCs' clothes when I read a thread about it yesterday - the small ones, I mean, not teenagers.

motherinferior · 22/07/2016 10:52

Oh BD. Are you in the smoke this weekend? Can we cluster round and press drinks upon you?

I officially heart Cremo, who really should be a holiday planner. (We may stick in Ireland.)

Blackduck · 22/07/2016 11:11

MI - not planning to be down this weekend unless things significantly change as was down Monday- Wednesday and really need a break. Planning to be down next weekend (29th), but of course (as you know) it's all plans that can change at a moments notice......

Rosebag · 22/07/2016 11:13

Am preparing to check out and head for the train station where a nice efficient train should take us to Geneva airport. There has been a thunderstorm this morning, clearing the air to a certain extent.

MM glad you had such a lovely time and all is well with the family en France. I never wanted any one to touch my babies. It was a very primal thing...they always smelled wrong when they were handed back, but I kept it to myself, thinking it somewhat witch like and unreasonable. I don't remember worrying about DGPs wheeling buggies though. I wasn't too keen on how DMIL changed nappies, it must be said...on the account of extraneous shit splattered around the room in the aftermath. No...really!

Dermatologist....how about St. John's specialist dermatologist dept at Tommy's? It couldn't be anything an simple as allergic to carrying loose change in pockets?

addle so glad it was a lovely graduation. These occasions are special.
BD will be in touch. Flowers

Looking forward to reading CV's thread of style when I get home. Respek Cv Grin

See you on the other side xx

Cremolafoam · 22/07/2016 12:45

Safe trip Rose.
MI you is welcome. Wink You know I love doing it, so no probs at all. Ireland would be smashing . People just put on wet suits on and get on with it. You never know, it might be gorgeous.... [sun]
I just wish people of this 'hood would pay for such a thing. I fear they are too wily and penny-pinching for it.

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2016 13:37

Cremo, surely it is something you could do online and it wouldn't matter where you are based?

Just spent a small fortune on DS. Very polite and thankful, but now started about replacing his phone which has died. But he chose to get a TV for his b'day not even 6 months ago... I have told him to talk to DH who won't entertain it at all Hmm

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 22/07/2016 14:23

Crem, we used a fantastic online travel agent last year for Malaysia and Borneo. It was such a great service and gave us tonnes of ideas. I'll find the name and let you know.

You just send them an email saying 5 people, somewhere hot, with beach and nature for £x please. She then comes up with a million different alternative from Cuba to Malaysia and you take it from there.

Still hot and lovely here, just cycled 10.5 miles with a stop for lunch en route. What's not to like!

MI, you could do flights to La Rochelle, bus over to Ile de Re, hire bikes, drink rose and write here. All the campsites have 'cabines' like wooden chalets, so no need for camping or lugging tents around....

Ooh Beachy - can I have the name of fab travel agent as well - sounds like just the job.

BD - dementia is awful - DDad has said that DMum can no longer cook a meal - she just stands in front of the stove and forgets what she was supposed to be doing. Even six months ago she could turn out an excellent meal.

Have just spent half an hour on FB Messenger with DD1 who is in some branch of Jigsaw in London and claims to have found the ultimate dress, jacket interview combo. It does look v good on photos and the shop assistant said buy it, and you can return it (she goes back to London in a week). Shopping in England is so easy - I always forget about this option in the land of stroppy shop assistants.

OMG - sorry - glitchy internet - thought it had failed to post! Obvs it had!

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 22/07/2016 14:53

holidaysplease.com was the company we used.... I have the actual name of the woman we used, but loathe to post it here. I can message those who would like. If you use her, I get champagne Smile

magimedi · 22/07/2016 16:07

What an amazing site, Beachy. I just idly put a few details into it & it came up with some lovely places, including a couple of places I have been to in Turkey & loved! Would love the name of the woman (And obv your name) as may well use them.

FIrst sea swim of the year today . Much warmer than I was thinking it was going to be & stayed in for about 15 mins. Just lovely as it was 'the top of the tide' as well.

Now sweating over a vat of tomato chutney that is bubbling on the stove as bought several kilos back from France to make some.

Cremolafoam · 22/07/2016 20:45

Evening Crepeys, I post from my bed. Have had a funny tummy for about 2 weeks. Pitched up at the doc today and after several tests, turns out I have been battling a severe kidney infection. I knew I felt a bit sweaty a few times. Feeling utterly destroyed now I've been permission to collapse.

All the chat about holiday search engines is giving me great joy! Have just spent an hour imagining self on a beach in Mexico for under £800 for 2 with flights and accom. WhoopsWinkGrin

CV the Beauty Box things looks v tempting and will be easy to attain, onc ive finished buying all the sun screen I'm going to needShockWink

BD, how are things? How's your dmum this evening.?

CointreauVersial · 22/07/2016 21:03

Take it easy, Crem - hope you are on the mend soon.

I'm winning my battle against tech malfunctions - after a hour on the phone to a vair nice Virgin Media chap in India my emails seem to be working again. And I am busy setting up my shiny new phone, which arrived today.

DH is in the air, somewhere between Shanghai and Abu Dhabi......looking forward to his return.

Following the Munich story with a heavy heart. Sad

herbaceous · 22/07/2016 21:39

Yo. DS and his social whirl. He had a sleepover last night, at which he went to bed at 10.30, a party this morning, and we have just returned from a BBQ. DP is now here, and it's damned nice to have him back, partic as he has brought with him the compulsory Giant Duty Free Toblerone.

Bloody dreading tomorrow, when I have to go home to sort out transfer from one carer to another. Though interestingly, have had third party email saying that a lot of the symptoms of mum could be from her morphine patch - lack of appetite, confusion, nausea, etc. Might whip it off her.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 22/07/2016 22:54

Aargh I have had a row first with DP and then I stupidly ventured into a MN thread about trans stuff after a beer and am being shouted down as I should have expected. And I'm sulking downstairs rather than going to bed - it's only 11pm ffs - so no doubt DP will lecture me portentously tomorrow. Pompous twit.

Blackduck · 23/07/2016 03:44

Mum died at 2.08 this morning. I wasn't there as couldn't get down quick enough.

Collymollypuff · 23/07/2016 04:10

I'm so sorry to hear that, BD. Sad Thanks Please don't feel bad that you couldn't get down quick enough; you did so much for her, no daughter could have done more. Thanks I hope you'll be supported in the next few days. Love to you.
