MrsS, I just read your post to DH. "Ooh", he said, "do you want to do that", and I retired to the bathroom.

Herbs, sorry to hear about the problems with TalkTalk, and that you feel DM is leaving you. Also much sympathy to BD and her DF. It's so hard.

CV, my DNephew is like your DSis when it comes to arrangements. Fortunately it doesn't drive his DM crazy, just me, when she won't make arrangements with me until he has decided what he is doing.

Blackduck · 17/07/2016 11:01

Ds would like to play Pokamon Go but as he's lost his phone........

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2016 17:46

BD, yesterday there were some weirdos young men chasing about with their phones. When I said WTAF? DD said they were playing Pokémon GoGrin
Quite a contrast to the very over dressed-up Townies who were shit-faced by 5pm! DD was shocked - we must have seen at least 6 women fall over before we left at 7pmGrin

Sorry to hear about the Elderly Parents Herbs and BD. DD told me that DM's BFF from Teacher Training College rang her last week. DM clearly didn't know who she was (despite friend of nearly 70 years having a very distinctive Geordie accent) and finished the "conversation" in under 2mins. Friend was much cheered up by DD chatting to her for about half an hour when she rang to tell me.

Cremolafoam · 17/07/2016 18:57

Dont get me started on Pokemon Go. I was just loomed at by a giant teenager in WHS. He only just remembered to halt a millisecond before full rugby tackle. I calmly asked him 'was there one in here?'
He said it was hiding behind me.Angry i dont want the blasted things anywhere near me , even virtually. Can you get an anti-poke aura screen?
God im knackered. On way home, at airport. Said goodbye to dd after a day of Forced Culture ( me doing the forcing) and antiquing in laneways.
Dh looked like I was holding a gun to his head all day.Angry
So wish I was not working tomorrow.Sad Emosh - draining, all this being cheerful lark. I am so much more practised at looking dour.

CointreauVersial · 17/07/2016 19:04

Crem - I can't knock Pokemon Go - my three have just gone off on a bike ride together. Shock This has never happened before. The bikes have seen more action in the last week than in the last three years. And it has dragged DS from his pit on several occasions to go hunting with his mates. Only problem is, I don't think their data bundles can take the strain.

I wish I wasn't working tomorrow either. Mainly because it is going to be scorchio. First activity of the day is to take DD2 to the orthodontist for removal of braces! Yee-hah!

Cremolafoam · 17/07/2016 19:19

Yay to braces removal. Apples back on the menu!
Fair point on pokemon go in the great outdoors CV but NOT in an enclosed space , like an airport surely? aargh!!Grin

herbaceous · 17/07/2016 19:23

I may get DS going on Pokemon go. Much as I love London transport networks, six months of talking about nothing else is beginning to wear thin. I asked if he wanted to come with me to the local 'garden party', full of bands, circus performers, and ice cream, but he declined, preferring to finish off his PowerPoint detailing all the different types of trains that run on lines into London.

So I went on my own, tragic like.

Cremo, you'd be safe here! Neither of my two do computer/video games (aside from DS and the odd bit of Fifa in the winter!) In fact, the good old playing cards have seen a lot of action in the last few days - they have both been playing Black Jack with any friends that come round (including not-so-ex bf Wink) - really lovely that they both get on with each others friends and don't expect us to join in

Great that they've all gone off cycling CV - hope they're concentrating on the road not the virtual Pokemons!

CointreauVersial · 17/07/2016 19:30

BTM - there are certain Pokemon Go activities that demand exercise - for example, hatching an egg requires you to walk/run 5k (although, the DCs were pleased to note that driving slowly in a traffic jam seems to register too Grin). However, they don't have to go far to find a "Pokestop", where they can restock supplies - there's one about 20m from the bottom of our drive.

Hell's Teeth, I sound like I know what I'm talking about!

herbaceous · 17/07/2016 20:14

Good email: The chief exec of BT Openreach (which talk talk uses for their lines) emailed me back! He's on the case with M&D's phone line.

Bad email: mum's friend, who feels she's not getting any better memory-wise, and that it's 'distressing' to see. Like an idiot I opened that email while supposedly relaxing at 'garden party'. And wanted to cry, in public.

I cycled to said fete, and by jove it's knackering. I even pushed it up most of the hills...

Summer arrives at 6.00 on a Sunday evening... 'Not fair....

Trying to work out what to do re ddad who is resistant to going away. Ahhhhhh. ....

I want to wfh for the next three days...

Phone found - OS too pathetic :)

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2016 20:39

Oh Herbs, sympathies. That is what one of DM's friends did to me - unloaded all her upset in a text to me. And various other of DM's old friends/neighbours. It's horrible. Flowers

BD, I am sunburnt from a walk this morning straight from the gym, so I didn't have any suncream on Shock

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2016 23:13

Five words you don't want to hear on a Sunday evening when you fancy an early night "Come To Us For Dinner." I am absolutely knackered, kitchen looks like wrath of God. I wanted egg on toast and a yogurt. Not to cook jerk chicken and various salads and to rustle up pudding. DH can sort out the kitchen mess as it was his mate.

herbaceous · 18/07/2016 07:49

I trust DH also cooked the dinner?

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2016 07:54

Ha ha ha - no.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2016 07:57

I would have said I was too tired to cook so he could do it himself/order a take-away. And not as politely as that.

motherinferior · 18/07/2016 08:02

Round here, the usual rule is whoever did the inviting does the cooking. I have two German 17year-olds coming to supper tonight for complicated family reasons....

I have, in MrsS's words, hit Cannot Cope. Having been unable to get much of a break over the weekend I burst into tears halfway through my Ladyjog and have come home to bed. BlushI feel a wimp but really I am not at my best.

Blackduck · 18/07/2016 08:55

BTM - that would have been my response too - you invited, you cook, I'm off to bed with a cuppa and a good book....

MI - be kind to yourself.

CointreauVersial · 18/07/2016 09:03

MI, you aren't a wimp. Look after yourself. And BD, Herbs and Crem, and anyone else who's having a tough time.

MrsS - DH knows better than to make a rash offer like that without consulting me. And he can't cook.

Up early to drop DD1to school for trip to Thorpe Park.....she's going to roast.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 18/07/2016 09:53

Likewise CV, God knows what dh would rustle up, a take away no doubt!

We have arrived en France. Dh insisted on driving all the way from the ferry in one hit which severely pissed me off. A manky service station sandwich was not what I had in mind. It is scorchio as Stropps predicted...

I agree, sleep, read, walk, eat, for all of you feeling the need. That's pretty much all I'm doing this week.... And I'll be coughing madly too. My shared cold with Mrs S is now just a pounding headache and a dry cough which results in a most dramatic coughing fit at least once an hour.

Lalsy · 18/07/2016 09:59

MI, have you a holiday looming? If not, can you sneak something in, just for you, even if only a day out? You need a rest, and some time.

Happy hols Beachy, and Crem, glad the weekend went smoothly if tiringly.

I have a complicated couple of days and then we are all off to Spain?. How can I make the dc get up in the morning?

herbaceous · 18/07/2016 12:08

Got yet another PA email from my mum's friend, telling me how she had looked after her aged mum and aunt for years, and how important it is to visit regularly, etc etc. Have replied, probably too firmly, detailing exactly the massive network of care we've set up, and how I do actually visit quite regularly, but it's hard to fit in what with child in education, job, and dying MiL. I couched it in 'just to reassure you we're doing what we can, but mum might not remember the details' but really meant 'give me a break you old bag'.

In other news, the TalkTalk engineer is now in the property!

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 18/07/2016 13:46

Herbs, I think it's time to block her.

Cremolafoam · 18/07/2016 14:43

Oh double yay Herbs, fir the TT bloke and for tight lipped response to Blame Shifting Friend who is probably actually just regurgitating her own guilt about something else entirely. Seriously nothing to do with her. But out woman, or contribute something supportive and helpful. Ignore and delete on receipt.AngryBiscuit
Back at work with draggy feet and awful tum , rumbling with pain in back. I am such a miserable cow at the moment. This will lift dramatically on arrival in Paris when i shall be weightlessly wafting down the Boulevard St. Michel.

I bet its hot Beachy. Hope you are getting a nice Atlantic breeze to blow away the cobwebs.

MI and BD, kobo. Do what you have to do to feel well , if you feel a duvet coming on, just hide under it for a while.

Mrs S, you are not The Help. Perhaps dh should have realised that by now.
Don't clear up fgs. That is his gig for later.Angry
