We are en route to day with posh inlaws somewhere in Rudy's neck of the woods (they're over from SE Asia). My motto for today is It's Better Than Legoland.Confused

Blackduck · 16/07/2016 09:20

Ds, friend and a reluctant dp are off to HyperJapan at Earls Court.... I have moved 20 years worth of vinyl and cleaned ds's pit bedroom... But failed to locate third lost phone.

Still debating whether to contact other mother re her eldest son...

herbaceous · 16/07/2016 09:37

Monty, that day sounds far from restful! I am continuing my fight with talk talk, then going to the walthamstow garden party, where there will be bands, food, crafts, n shit. If we can get in. Last year we queued for an hour before giving up.

Adoptiong your motto for today MI:
Its got to be better than Legoland.
On the upside the air B&b is the best one yet. Clearly done out by an architect in experimental mode , but simply done with quality things. Very smart actually. much better than our own sorry looking abodeWink
Off to meet up with dd and HS in an hour. Got positive head on and am determined to make the best of it.
Seem to have acquired a kidney infection or similar and am sore and feverish and running to loo. Great stuff eh?

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2016 11:43

Cremolafoam · 16/07/2016 13:01

bigTillyMint · 16/07/2016 15:20

How's the MU going Cremo?

We are flagging a bit, but DD really likes the uni, the accommodation and eating/drinking options and loved the course talk (so did I!) Result!

Rosebag · 16/07/2016 16:36

Hello Crepeys from my hotel room where I am somewhat collapsed after a day excursion to said Mt Pikatus. Facebookers will see the evidence and know that the views were quite unreal...especially our faces when our gondola seemed to falter half way up (the whole ride is two gondolas and a cable car, so 40 mins "flight" ...really not for the faint hearted me ).. We just all stopped in our pods, swinging aimlessly and got more than a little worried shitting bricks more like Anyway it restarted with no explanation... Confused and thereafter we had a great trip, eating lunch at the top, and then descending later on the Cog Railway, appaz the steepest in the world. Not for the fainthearted either although at least you're attached to terra firma.....Then finally the boat trip back to Lucerne and our hotel. Tonight we plan to eat early at the hotel water front terrace, and go and see a street music concert. Off to Montreux tomorrow via Golden Pass rail. I like the "properness" here. It means everything is so clean and on time.

How's it going cremo and how are you feeling...do you need an antibiotic?

Cv ds1 once asked me to take his speeding points on my licence. On yer bike mate, I said. I love you but not than much.....

monty your Saturday is making me breathless just reading about it!
waf the progress on the novel sounds very good Smile

herbs I'd be inclined to see an orthopaedic surgeon re clicky hips....

Where is stropps ? How's the holiday and did you sort out sore backside?

Bd is there any merit in speaking to the school first?

motherinferior · 16/07/2016 16:45

It was, phew, better than Legoland Grin

motherinferior · 16/07/2016 17:11

I am amusing myself on the way home by reading one of those 'effortlessly groomed' threads. I could recommend my nearby piercing place...

Cremolafoam · 16/07/2016 17:36

Much better than Legoland here too.
Had lunch with dd in a hippy place with overpriced tea and knit your own lentils style fodder, the like of which , students are fond.Grindd is well and in bright cheery humour. We met the gf and i had to poke dh , so he didnt snigger at boy in a dress( dear love him). The gf not dh.
All good. Vintage record shoppe, second hand book shop, several charity shops etc.
Now resting Winebefore out to dinner.
Q civilised so far. Phew.Smile

I have had my hips x-rayed in the past, and nothing was found...

Further parent woes. I've been raising merry hell with TalkTalk, who still haven't mended AgedPs' line after six day. Keep getting lemon-sucking texts from the carer demanding to know 'what I'm doing about it', and finding it hard to tell her to bloody do something as she's there and can test lines, etc.

Then an email from AP's friend, saying she saw them for lunch (that I'd been trying to persuade mum to do, as she's crawling into herself), but it was a bit of a disaster. Mum v tired and in pain with sciatica, and neither of them ate anything. Within six weeks my mum has gone from pretty compos mentis and 'her', to frail little old lady. And I don't know if she's coming back. I wasn't ready for this. Makes my heart hurt.

Effortlessly groomed , that'll be the day. < hoists bosom,,wearing Red Cross shop unflattering top>

motherinferior · 16/07/2016 17:43

Oh HerbsSadWineSadAngry

First things first: can you text back to carer 'Talktalk says can you do xxxx' thus putting onus on her?

herbaceous · 16/07/2016 17:47

MI, I have done that. They have her mobile number to contact re engineer visits, etc. I have phoned TT eight times, two of her friends have called them numerous times. We have a job number. We have been promised an engineer 'within 24 hours' three times. I have tweeted their 'care' line. I have written an irate email to the CEO of both TalkTalk and BT Openreach.

Six months ago mum would have put a rocket up their arse herself.

Ring the press office and tell them you're a consumer journalist, with details?

motherinferior · 16/07/2016 17:52

TalkTalk has had a LOT of bad press this year, I've just checked...

bigTillyMint · 16/07/2016 18:11

Oh no Herbs Sad

Cremo, glad it's going better than expected so far.

We are eating and drinking our way back to the train station - wished I'd booked an earlier one!

herbaceous · 16/07/2016 18:12

They prob don't care about any more. I fear being caught out if I pretend to be consumer press. Where from, they'll ask...

OP posts:
Cremolafoam · 16/07/2016 18:51

Herbs, Im so sorry. Dm will come back to her own self. Ive seen this before after an op my ddad had and anecdotally from other friends.
Is it in any way feasible to change providers? Or threaten same.? Or is it a complete monopoly. Also wonder if Age uK helpline may be of assistance?

herbaceous · 16/07/2016 18:59

Hope your kidney nastiness is getting better, crem, and that your day was as good as possible. Or that at least you managed to keep up the Better Than Legoland happy face. You too, MI!

Ooh, Age UK. There's an idea. And thanks for reassurance re mama. I do miss her. There were a couple of days this week when I didn't feel on the verge of tears. That was nice.

I am shortly to receive guests, in the form of my BFFs who I haven't seen for ages, due to aforementioned parental woes. Cava shall be taken, in the garden. I may cry at some point. DP was with his mum today, who apparently has spent the last two days crying (something she never does) as the reality of her impending demise has struck. Yay! What larks!

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 16/07/2016 21:47

Aw, Herbs.....I hope your BFFs give you big hugs and ply you with alcohol and kindness. Talk Talk sound like a shower of idiots; I'd be incandescent.

"It's Better Than Legoland" Grin Must remember that one.

Yesterday's Y8 play was lovely, and DD2 played her sheep part as well as could be expected. Today has mostly been about DH unpacking (from Geneva) and re-packing (for Shanghai - leaves at 5am tomorrow). It has been sticky and humid all day; DS didn't enjoy his 8 hours in a sweaty bakery. Grin

SIL has just texted from Ireland to say that DNiece will be arriving here a week on Tuesday to stay for a week. WTF?! She's a sweetie, but only 12, so DH or I will almost certainly be expected to take time off work to entertain her. And juggle funerals, business trips and impending holiday. I don't mind, but it drives me insane DH's family's inability to plan ahead or communicate what they're doing before they actually do it.

Blackduck · 16/07/2016 21:51

Herbs so sorry so get that 'oh my god they are so old' moment...

Here dmum very bad today - Dddad very worried and very tired. I think we need to kick some respite in, but it's difficult with work etc. good it's rubbish

And just watched a tough film with dp's and am at the 'why can't everyone joust be nice to each other'.

'Ju suis sick of this shit'

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2016 08:58

DH asked me what I wanted to do today. I said, stay in bed, drink Champagne and have wild sex. He looked nervous, backed away and said he was going to clean the bathrooms. Grin
