Cremo Grin. They're a band :)

Cremolafoam · 09/07/2016 15:27

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin offs. I thought you were going on holiday.

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/07/2016 16:32

Drinking wine in a bar with DH. And why not?

bigTillyMint · 09/07/2016 16:39

Just been for a pedi and then DS and DH came to meet me and we went for an ice-cream in one of the local ice-cream parlours - living the high life!

Did you find a bikini, MrsS?

motherinferior · 09/07/2016 16:46

I have been for lunch with Molly's and my friend who lost her little girl and has a new and ADORABLE baby. And am soon to go out for supper chez another friend.

CV, thinking of you.

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/07/2016 21:57

I appear to be getting a cold and feel like crap. Have done some e-learning today on personal impact, which taught me more about boss than myself, but at least I now have a plan of action for our meeting next week (and a few gentle words for him about managing staff).

Bought some special cheese in Paxton and Whitfield and the bastards gave me the crusty end of the cheese, which meant that I had to throw about half of it out, which didn't please me, given the cost of the cheese. Think I will go to bed now and hope I feel less sniffly in the morning. Can't afford to have a cold next week.

DD2's school report was piss poor - all full of "could do much better, needs to put in some effort" and her grades have pretty much all dropped from A* and A to Bs and Cs, all citing lack of effort. I was exactly the same at her age, and scraped reasonable results, but could have done much better.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 09/07/2016 23:14

I probably gave that cold to you, Mrs S. I'm full of it- it started with dd2, sorry.

Blackduck · 10/07/2016 06:28

MrsS so how does one achieve personal impact?.....

I am doing PDRs with my staff and being very upfront that any real development probably means moving job (and institution) - that's depressing.

Here the weather is bloody awful and I've had enough....

MontserratCaballe · 10/07/2016 07:07

Morning, crepeys.

Sorry to hear you are ill, MrsS. I trust you have a medicine cabinet of good drugs at your disposal? Excellent to have a plan of action.

BD, sorry your fed up state continues. Have you holiday booked? I saw something on FB yesterday about the warm weather coming from Spain for a month starting 21sy July ish - in time for school holidays. Even going to work in warm weather feels a bit brighter.

Rose, I will be thinking of you today. Remember that your grief is still very new and iou don't have to be brave if you don't feel it. Huge hugs to you xxx

CV, so sorry to read of ailing family. That must be very tough. Sending love.

Btm, did you go to glamorous nails for your pedi? I love that place. Proper foot scraping and a satisfying pile of foot on the floor thereafter. Much matter for my hooves than a spa type place.

Herbs, hope ds enjoyed his birthday trip. Your cake looked fab. Haven't been to Margate for years. It looked good fun. We tend to go to broad stairs for a seaside day out as bit easier to get to from here.

We have bought dd1 some uniform for her new school which she is thrilled with. Yesterday was a whirl of drama and ballet productions so today I shall reward myself with a glass of wine in front of the tennis. Come on, Andy.

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2016 07:41

Hope you're right about the warm weather coming. Well, it is actually warm here, but more sun would be very welcome.

Monty, no, but I can recommend the one I go to - 999. They do a foot-spa with a back-massaging chair whilst you have your pedi. They definitely do have scraper things - have seen them used, but I don't need one apparentlyShock

We also go to Broadstairs (for the fab ice-cream parlour mainly!) but often cycle up/past Margate and back while we are there. We also used to camp with a big group of friends at Birchington and go to Minnis Bay beach, which is sandy and wide and virtually unspoilt.

I am up to take DD to work - there's a comp today and she has the first group. I'm amazed she's up as she was at a party last night!

herbaceous · 10/07/2016 08:15

We had a brilliant day out! It was lovely and sunny, if windy, so most of us got patches of sunburn from inexpertly applied cream. All the kids got on well (for most of the time), and the mums (plus DP) spent a lot of the time sitting on the prom, drinking pimms and mojitos out of cans and watching them frolic in the shallows.

Margate is great. A fair bit of it is still pretty run down, but a lot of the faded grandeur has been gentrified, with coffee shops, ice cream parlours and loads of vintage shops (encouraged by Mary Portas, I believe).

Greetings crepies - have had a very hectic Friday and Saturday - DD2's school graduation Friday, then up at 5am on Saturday to beat the traffic jams (we didn't) to get to Provence. Finally arrived after 12 hours (3 extra hours) but all is well.

Stropps - I'm sorry I missed your French trauma - hope you've got sorted. Today we are wandering to the village for the Fete de la Figue and then lying around till the cup final.

DD2 of course, now she is an "adult" has forgotten her contraceptive pills so she'll just have to stop for a couple of months. They say they are grown up, yet we still have to micro manage everything!

Anyway DH is shutting down the house, so I'd better shift ...

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2016 11:41

Oh Hatty, 12 hours on the A6 sounds horrifique. Hope you can relax a bit now you're there.

Mrs S, dd2 is I'm afraid not unlike me too. Kind of gave up trying after a couple of not great results, and decided I was rubbish anyway, so why work.? Maybe a bit if reverse psychology would work with her. May be dd1s results will make her get a wiggle on.Hmm

Rose, my thoughts are with you today.Flowers

Stropps, hope you are feeling easier today and glad to be out of the car at least.

Yes, come on Andy. Tennis

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2016 12:06

Crikey Hatty, we used to be able to get from London to the Vendee in the summer holidays in 10 hours, what on earth was going on? Even London to Geneva has taken only 8 hours on the busiest Ski Saturdays of the year!

Stropps, hope you are floating in a pool by now.

Well, DD did her bit at the comp (as a coach, no more competing thank God!) and admitted that it was her that had thrown up in the loo (good party, obviously!) and she has cleaned it upShock Without a sceneShock

CointreauVersial · 10/07/2016 13:21

Angry I have four loads of washing ready to go on the line, and we have had perpetual drizzle all day. When will it stoppppp??

We went to a fab party last night, back in our old neighbourhood, three doors up from the lovely cottage we moved out of in 2009. It's a really close-knit place - just 15 or so cottages fronting a common, with everyone knowing everyone else, and if we hadn't produced three lunking DCs we'd be living there still. The party was thrown by the cool/boho couple at No.1, so there was a band, copious alcohol, and plenty of catching up with old pals. We met the couple who are now living in our old house, and they were so nice (and, bizarre coincidence, she does exactly the same job as DH, but for a competitor, so they had a high old time talking shop). It was nice to hear about changes they've made which we never got around to (replacing hideous fireplace, re-roofing....), although they were a bit rude about the living room carpet. Grin

wordassociationfootball · 10/07/2016 14:09

NO-ONE should give a crepey the crusty end of the cheese....

Thoughts and Flowers to Rose.
Stropps - sciatica is the pits. Hope that and other of your ails are under control.
MI - that curry sounds fab.
Monty - we only have the (new style) ginormous bag as yet.
Rudy - I hope your birthday will bring the beginning of better days.

BTM - I love the idea (in theory Smile) of cycling from Broadstairs to Margate (even though I'm sure it would result in Tuckerish swearing) Do you take bikes on train on strapped to car?

I have been reading on the run. Feet have hardly touched the ground this week. Like Rose, spent a lot of time putting stuff away in cupboards in Mum's place which is ground floor (Sis has two floors above.) We were sorting out for sis's glorious party last weekend in which the garden was bedecked with bunting and fairy lights - looked beeyootiful. Day before I had to put my money where my health and safety mouth had been (as it were) and cement up a load of ankle-breaking gaps between the paving, then shop and cook and help at party (huge fun doing karaeoke with Mum - whose xray showed all fine with hip, just using leg wrong). Big day clearing up then tons of script work all week (just finished) wrapped round more late nights, booze and fun at kids media conf in Sheffers.

DD1 and 2 are out shopping. DD1 sent me a photo of her in a tiny t-shirt. Channelled CV with the pink shoes and resisted saying it was too tight and small and texted cute. We help each other in so many ways.

Loved the pharma help to Sropps who's phone may be un peu pro brexit: Rochdale? !

Going to put on running stuff and huff down to Wilksons for several important and well-priced bits 'n' pieces before hunkering down to some admin, roast lamb from DH (thank you very much) and Season 2 ep one of The Bridge with a small glass.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/07/2016 14:35

The biggest dilemma DD2 had yesterday was whether to go for the teensy tinsy bikini bottoms or the high leg, more bum covering option. She went for the latter, fortunately. I wish she was less well endowed (30GG) as it would make bikini shopping so much easier. And cheaper...

I am in bed sucking on a Lem Sip. Sad

motherinferior · 10/07/2016 16:00

The sun is out here and I have been listening to DD2s jazz band. Now going to have a small rest (I may have had one too many glasses of pink fizz last night) before going to watch the eurofinal chez friends. I am not all that much of a football fiend but it will be fun. DD1 will meet us from the park where she is "meeting friends"Wink.

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2016 16:23

WAF, we strap them to the car. It is an easy flat ride on the Viking Trail with plenty of opps for stopping off for coffee and snacks!

Glad you found a bikini MrsS - where from? DD is currently looking online (and is a similar size on top) but will no doubt be choosing the smallest coverage bottoms!

DH and I are off to see Laura Mvula tonight, hopefully he will be back in time - he is currently watching DS play in a London U16's match v Fulham - so much for footy stopping for the summer!

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2016 16:28

WAF we have done that coast with bikes on train, great fun. Herne bay to ramsgate is lovely.

Rose, hope it went well, thinking of you. And stropps, have a brilliant hol and hope you feel better. And Harry, enjoy!

I am exhausted. Been knocked for six by some sad news, the past is punching me in the guts every hour or so.

Sorry to hear about the bad news, Lalsy. Flowers

Tennis ANDY!! Tennis He played amazingly but I do like Raonic & am sure he will win slams soon.

Usually feel very flat post Wimbledon but have tomorrow to get organised & then off to see PFGD. (And her parents Grin ).

Probably won't be posting while away - I do find a break from the internet quite refreshing (but miss you all) & does me good not to be reading news/politics etc for a bit.
