So sorry too Lalsy. SadFlowers Do take care of yourself X.

Thanks BTM and Hatty. Got you now.

Andy Murray fireworks were both tense and splendid to watch. Found myself cheering in an embarrassing manner and shouting yay! All on my own in front of telly.BlushGrinBlush

Allez les Français pour ce soir 🇫🇷

herbaceous · 10/07/2016 18:04

Managed to catch the vital parts of the Murray match at YET ANOTHER kiddie party this afternoon, which was preceded by an hour in a climbing centre with 10 seven-year-olds. It was in the same echoey hangar-type space as a skate park, which meant it was VERY LOUD. As was the party. I am very much 'over' other people's children. There's always one little shit 'high-spirited child' who makes life slightly miserable for the others, isn't there.

DMum's carer rang me today to tell me to sort out the non-functioning phone line. Naturally, Talk Talk won't (ha) talk to me as I'm not there, so I asked her to do it. She took umbrage. I don't like her very much. White South African. Not that I'm one to stereotype.

Thanks Cremo exciting! - got some real S&B to discuss now! Might need to do a bit of shopping... And go on a diet (I have high hopes for Vietnamese cuisine doing the same wonders that Thai cuisine did!)

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2016 18:07

Herbs, she might have to pretend to be your DM to make life easier when trying to get phone/gas/elec, etc to help. My DM had loads of problems with her phone as dementia started setting in.

motherinferior · 10/07/2016 18:46

Lalsy, I'm so sorry.Flowers

MontserratCaballe · 10/07/2016 19:08

Lovely Lalsy - thinking of you Flowers

Hope it went well, Rose - hand to hold XXX

CV, hope you are bearing up.

Cracking tennis this afternoon - Andy was so sweet at his win. And Kimmy looked mighty fine, as always. Kate looked very glossy, but Prince William was in a slightly dodgy jacket

herbaceous · 10/07/2016 19:17

I thought Kim's top was hideous. And she's so sulky. When I'm the wife of a millionaire sporting sensation I'll be very smiley in something from Cos.

OP posts:
MontserratCaballe · 10/07/2016 19:26

It was Jenny Packham, Herbs, which doesn't matter if you hated it but I thought it was lovely and the colour was a good stand out so Andy could see her. I also like her diamond so heavy she can barely clap. I love a big rock but I do think they seem like a lovely couple. Very family oriented and he hates the spotlight but does what he has to for the ££££ sponsorship. Said he was looking forward to it being Kim, baby and dogs after he stops playing professionally. Nice (and v shy) chap.

herbaceous · 10/07/2016 19:32

Sorry monty. Would seem I'm a little harsh. I blame the stress.

hattymattie · 10/07/2016 19:33

Sorry you had bad news Lalsy Flowers.

Have missed Wimbledon but I gather Cameron was booed by the no Brexit Wimbledon crowd.

Magi - have a fab time on holiday. As you can see I've connected to the house's wifi. It's only at my in laws that we're cut off from the world.

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2016 22:05

Gosh Herbs, no surprise after the few days you've had with small boys, your dps and job anxiety.
Personally I like a bit of pass remarkableness Grin
Kate as always did look glossy, in a Stepford manner, and , sorry Monty, not keen on the tennis ball coloured dressWink Did enjoy the look on Judi's face. And small glimpses of Ma Cameron, looking somewhat grim faced.

Collymollypuff · 10/07/2016 22:55

I've met Kim and she's lovely. #ridiculouslycrassnamedropping

Rosebag · 10/07/2016 23:27

Hello all and thanks for the kind wishes. It's all over and to all intents and purposes went splendidly, especially when it stopped raining. I feel awful but acknowledge the success of the event somehow. The eulogy was written with no regard for me (it's always the " DSis and DBro show") and my feelings about DDad but I'm learning to just let things drop. Life's too short to row about things. It achieves nothing in the long run.

Said also another good bye to DS1 who flies back to Aus tomorrow.Sad I hope the next 7 weeks go quickly. Then he's back for good.

lalsy whatever your sad news is I send hugs and Flowers

Glad the trip to the Kent coast went well for herbs and the gang. For years I took DS1 to Westgate on Sea. There was a hotel there, (now a block of flats sadly,) which was great for me as a single mum. Fond memories of the place. Lots of trips to Broadstairs, and Margate.

Wish you better mrsS. Summer colds are the pits.

Have a good trip MM and enjoy your time with the little one.

Will try to catch up properly tomorrow xx

Collymollypuff · 10/07/2016 23:33

Thanks Rose. You are so philosophical. I hope for you that the next 7 weeks go quickly.

Lalsy, sorry to hear you have had sad news. Thanks

Gesundheit, MrsS. Have a hot toddy on me. Wine

Blackduck · 11/07/2016 06:32

Lalsy and Rose {{ }}

Saw the wonderful Stornaway at the RSC with support by a fan ex student of dp's ....

bigTillyMint · 11/07/2016 07:58

Glad you got through it Rose, and hope the 7 weeks go quickly.

I managed to miss the tennis and the footy - the Laura Mvula gig at Somerset House was really good. Phenomenal woman!

Auriga · 11/07/2016 08:49

Glad to see people are enjoying tennis, football, concerts etc Smile

Calling in to offer hugs to Rose and Lalsy (and still thinking of you, Montserrat and MI) Flowers and say get well soon, MrsS.

And Stropps, a bit late but it's better to lie on your front propped up on your elbows with your legs stretched out behind you (not curled up) to relieve sciatica.

We've had a wonderful run of concerts, all three of us. I'm in awe of DD. I have one more day of work then she goes on tour with the orchestra and DH and I go to Rome for a few days. I've been struggling with awful, awful sadness & am hoping it will re-set me somehow. Any suggestions for Rome? It's our first time.

hattymattie · 11/07/2016 09:21

Rose - I'm so sorry I missed what you were going through - I keep dipping in and missing lots - you deal with things so fantastically. Sending hugs and Flowers. It is nice you got to see DS.

Lalsy - hope you're OK.

Stropps - hope you are installed in the Ile de Re and enjoying yourself.

Here DD2 is now moaning it's too hot. No pleasing some people. DD1 is joining us from Paris this evenining so we have to go to Avignon to pick her up. Will have a walk round the town at the same time.

motherinferior · 11/07/2016 10:04

Ooh, Rome, Auriga. How lovely. I am mainly just envious.

I am very, very, VERY tired. I realise this is probably only to be expected but I feel sledge-hammered. Work is just about under control, though, but I almost wish I hadn't put forward to sing in an Evensong next Sunday, which is taking a lot of time (rehearsing tonight as well as Thursday) and a lot of v close focus on a small group (I'm the only second alto). I just want to sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep.

herbaceous · 11/07/2016 11:10

Sorry about your terrible sadness Auriga. I'm sure a few days in Rome will be restorative to at least some degree.

I too am knackered, and sad. In fact, on the verge of tears the whole time. If anyone asks how I am, my chin(s) wobbles.

Not helped by being at FE place and having to do end of course admin that I don't understand. A million times over.

Stropperella · 11/07/2016 11:49

Checking in from a Dr's waiting-room on the Ile de Re. Not quite sure how their system works, but I have a nasty feeling I'm going to be sitting here for a long time.

Rose, I am glad to hear that the ceremony went off OK, but am sorry that your feelings weren't taken into account yet again.

Lalsy, so sorry you have had bad news.

Hatty, have a fab holiday.

Herbs, am not surprised you are feeling ground down, what with being assaulted on all fronts. Sad

MI, don't do too much, if poss.
Auriga, I hope Rome proves restorative. Re: lying position - I can't lie on my front at all and haven't been able to for 11.5 years, not even propped up on elbows. Ds is 11.5 years old. These 2 facts are, I suspect not unconnected. Have had another night of trying to sleep on all fours and getting up every hour to roll around on the floor trying not to squeak too loudly. I look even more terrifying than usual with wild hair and eyebags down to my chin. Remind me never to try to go on holiday again. Also remind me to give my own gp a massive kick up the arse for refusing to refer me for further investigations last year. Angry

Cremolafoam · 11/07/2016 13:03

oh Stropps I was just thinking of you. Please please please may the medecin be of the sympathetic variety. Understand completely about not being able to lie on front , nor indeed in any way. The pain is always there gnawing at your soul and sapping your energy. Like toothache,, impossible not to think about.
GPs take a very slow approach to back pain. You nearly have to be on your death bed before even getting referred to a physio, ime. First thing though is to sort out pain meds. I take, Tramadol and Lyrica cocktail. But it took a long time to persuade GP that I was literally unable to move.I ended up in A&E on a stretcher. It will be a long journey Stropps, but there is light I promise. Sending enormous quantities of love and propping up .

MI, you need to sleep , your body is telling you so. Two hours in the afternoon for a week, is what I would prescribe. Give yourself permission.
Herbs, you need a holiday and a medal, and some extraordinary good luck.
Auriga, I hope Rome proves to be a good change of routine, and enough to clear your mind a little. I'm sorry you feel so sad. I have never been to Rome, so my travel agent hat doesn't fit this time I am afraid.I doubt you can walk 2 yards in Rome without finding something fabulous or interesting.

It has been such a hard year for so many Crepeys. I am so awfully sorry for everyone feeling low. Flowers

CointreauVersial · 11/07/2016 13:33

I am looking for Things To Do In California That Cost No Money, as the dollar rate continues to slide. Angry

BUT

A little thing happened at the weekend which has made me determined to change the way I think about negative things.

DH and I popped out to the shops, and spotted an old friend and neighbour (from the lovely place we used to live pre-2009), sitting at a pavement café table, laughing and joking with his GF and a mate. Nothing surprising there....except that two days earlier we were reading his FB updates in disbelief, hearing that a blood clot in his leg (caused by a previously undiagnosed case of lupus) had lead to him having it amputated above the knee. He's 47, previously healthy, and this happened less than 10 days ago.

I have never seen someone so positive and full of hope for the future; he was showing pictures of his first steps with a prosthetic, saying that he was forcing himself to take at least three weeks off work (he's a cabby!) and joking that he'll be quicker in and out of Tesco once he has his blue badge.

I really must think twice before I grumble about the exchange rate, or who stacked the dishwasher badly.....if he can be so upbeat about something so devastating then I really have nothing to complain about. Honestly, it was so inspiring to see. I hope he won't come crashing down at some point, but he has lots of mates looking out for him if he does.

magimedi · 11/07/2016 13:52

If you are going to San Francisco, take a bus out to Ocean Beach & walk back along the coast path - lovely walk & the ruins of the worlds largest swimming pool.

The Mediterranee is a great place to eat & not too expensive.

In the middle of packing for France - I might kill DH before we go if he farts round anymore deciding what to take. We are taking the car so can take whatever we want!!

My love to all of you who are having such a rough time - please, please be kind to yourselves & don't try to do everything. You need to rest.
