I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

And forgiven DD1 (though I have not sorted out her birthday present dilemma) not least because she and the boyf have been chatting about the referendum (he is en route to Glastonbury with his family - think the dad does something in music biz and have not enquired how they are skiving off school Shock) which is really impressive I didn't enquire about the rest of the texts.

hattymattie · 22/06/2016 19:25

WAF - awful about DM's hip operation. Will they be able to reoperate soon do you think?

Rose - well done to DD.-

Here another bad exam - including a question not covered in class plus some other questions that even the teacher said were really hard. DD is now despairing of reaching her uni offer. At least we get the results early

Blackduck · 22/06/2016 19:43

Oh Hatty so :( for DD....

Cremo · 22/06/2016 20:19

Oh Hatty. She must be in bits. All you can do is wait and see, meanwhile hand holding and making quiet noises of encouragement.

Masterchef getting of to a gag-making start. Blee! Grin

GiddyGiddyGoat · 22/06/2016 20:49

"Celebrity" Masterchef.... WTF?
God those mince things were gopping.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 22/06/2016 20:50

Poor dd Hatty. Sounds really upsetting. Is her offer for first choice a stiff one?

herbaceous · 22/06/2016 21:16

Has Sinitta ever cooked food in her entire life?

bigTillyMint · 22/06/2016 21:18

Oh poor DD Hatty. Fingers crossed it is not as bad as she thinks.

Is Masterchef ever off TV worse than Big Brother Grin

Lalsy · 23/06/2016 07:00

Poor dd, Hatty. So frustrating, nothing you can do.

WAF, your poor dm, that's awful.

Rose, welcome to exam freedom - hope you can have a modicum of fun.

Am worried the weather will stop Londoners voting today. dd is off to the phone banks this morning. ds off to his first uni open day, where apparently it will be 22 deg and sunny.

NUFC69 · 23/06/2016 07:15

Its forecast to be that here, Lalsy, although it's a bit cloudy now.

Hatty, poor DD; I hope it's not as bad as she thinks.

WAF, sorry to hear about DM.

Hebs, how are DPs now? And Addle, is DH safely home?

Cremo · 23/06/2016 07:26

Must remember to vote. Heaven knows how I will ever remember given that nobody has mentioned it this week.

WAF,so sorry to hear about your dmums trials. Sounds awful that she might have to contemplate further surgery. SadWineFlowers

Blackduck · 23/06/2016 07:40

Why Cremo is there anything significant happening today? :)
I need to remember to collect FREE school uniform (result!)
I'm on my way in - very tired and having to pep talk ds re his diving...

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2016 08:06

Cremo, well done to your boys in greenGrin

The thunder and lighting last nightShock Lucky DS, Lalsy!

Off to vote IN on my way in to work.

MontserratCaballe · 23/06/2016 08:21

Have voted - queues at the local polling station at 7.15am. Wow! Now holed up in my room frantically trying to work.

Harry, so sorry for your poor Dd. that sounds miserable.

Waf, so sorry to hear about your mum. That must be stressful for all of you Flowers

Right, to work. Back later.

motherinferior · 23/06/2016 08:22

Sauntered to polling station. Done my bit. Oh dear it's all very white-knuckly....

addle · 23/06/2016 08:28

Your poor Dd, Hattie.
And your sm, waf. How agonising.

Dh home - made our first uber trip back from hospital. Dh fantastic on crutches but do realise how severely limited life is going to be fr a while - 6 weeks no weight bearing fr a start

Voted on way to bus. No qs but steady stream of people. Dh determined to get out to vote. Am worried about uneven pavements etc.
Ps lalsy been lifesaver over last couple days with splendid roast chicken and herby salad that hv meant I hvnt had to cook or think.

herbaceous · 23/06/2016 08:42

That thunder last night! Never heard the like. I thought the house was falling down. DS slept through the whole thing.

I too hope that the rain doesn't put off too many IN voters, or at least if it des, that it puts off even more Leavers. If I see one more red-faced buffoon chunter 'I want my country back' I shall run a mock with a bread knife.

Another consequence of the weather is that DS's school is shut due to flooding. I am contemplating a museum that would normally be too hideous. Also contemplating just lying on the sofa.

WAF - your step-mums hip is nightmarish. It seems quite common. Well, based on the fact that my friend, my age, had a hip replacement that went wrong and had to be done again. In her case they made her leg too short!

motherinferior · 23/06/2016 09:18

In S&B news: over the past month numerous people have said how nice my hair is looking and what have I done to it. I have....

...stopped dyeing it.GrinGrinGrin

I like to think the effect is a mix of silver and copper, though MrsS suggests carrot and turnip.Wink

herbaceous · 23/06/2016 10:10

I accidentally dyed my hair, and have had many compliments since. By 'accidentally', I mean I bought what I thought was a semi-permanent blonde kit to cover my greys, and to thus look like blonde highlights. What I actually bought was a permanent blonde kit that doesn't cover greys. Still, looks quite good!

Rosebag · 23/06/2016 12:37

I like the idea of silver and copper!!! Agree re getting teens their own account....I was also heartily sick of "Mum, can you get a present for..." whining at the eleventh hour. DD particularly likes getting Amazon Vouchers and has spent a recent one from DS1 on her birthday on Alvin and The Chipmunks DVD's Confused I also find, in extremis, Not On The High Street vouchers (also downloadable) are good last minute gifts.
the boyfriend sounds very hip

The Masterchef balls of shame were ridiculous. Surely even the most basic cooks know that something so huge can't actually be pan fried....without giving everyone food poisoning.

Addle glad DH is up and about albeit hobbling. Sorry it's going to be a long haul. Flowers

Oh Hatty Sad but it's not over yet. One step at a time. Get to the end of the exams...then results...then decisions, if needed. Flowers

We have voted....lively activity at the polling station which is usually like a ghost house on election days. For pity's sake let us remain. Packing now...why is it so much harder to pack just for three days, a few hours away, than 2 weeks long haul. Maybe we're just weird. Confused

motherinferior · 23/06/2016 13:00

Actually that is inspired, Rose, as DD2 adores googleplay vouchers and indeed my dad has sent her some.

Cremo · 23/06/2016 13:14

Excellent advice re vouchers Rose!
And it also takes me the same amount of time to pack for an overnighter as a 3week trip. Coz you have yo have all the same toiletries and tech that you would take anyway.
Well i do. Plus chargers, meds, snacks raincoat, brolly, suncream and a range of spectacles.
Fgs. GrinGrin

wordassociationfootball · 23/06/2016 13:27

'chargers, meds, snacks raincoat, brolly, suncream and a range of spectacles.'

Thanks Crem, that's my summer packing list started.

Agree with all that's been said. About everything.

bigTillyMint · 23/06/2016 14:21

Herbs, I thought your hair looked fab the other night - both colour and cut. I'm sure yours does too, MI.

I have got a bit better at packing over the years, but still take too much (to cater for any eventuality) and inevitably forget something. Not as bad as DH who forgot his entire bag about 20 years ago!

I fear it is going to thunder/lightning/downpour as soon as I leave work this afternoon.

Rosebag · 23/06/2016 14:27

Grin Tilly DH once packed for DD. He didn't bring her coat or any t shirts at all. And she just had the knickers and socks she was wearing. Confused. Thank goodness for the local Peacocks.

Packing the meds is driving me to drink. Since when did we need so many??? Since when did I start worrying about every possible ailment on the planet??? Crem you are so right....
