I can no longer afford Lancôme mascara. What's the next best thing?

I'm on maternity leave and need to adjust my budget accordingly glares at DH

Have used Lancôme Grandiose since it came out and I LOVE it. However, I can no longer justify £25 on a tube of mascara now I'm on maternity pay so I'm looking for an alternative, under £15.

What's best? I have half decent lashes but they need fattening and lengthening.

Thanks in advance Flowers

I use a Maybeline one for day use and its brill. It's a rose gold colour tube. Will have a look later at what it's called.

Thank you Smile

I have browsed in Boots / Superdrug etc but clearly I cannot make this purchase without consulting MN first. Grin

I swear by maybelline. I was a big fan of expensive mascaras but actually prefer these now. I swop and change but always get good results. Only one I've tried has been too clumpy.

Coldtoeswarmheart · 19/05/2016 18:58

Maybelline, the pink and green one. Brilliant.

Tinkfromlovejoy · 19/05/2016 18:59

I like the body shop one, green tube, twirly brush (don't know what it's called), it's about a tenner.

StrangeDream · 19/05/2016 19:01

Hmmm...Maybelline coming out on top so far. I've heard good things.

Rimmel in the yellow tube

I use Barry M lash Vegas , it's brilliant as it has fibres in which plump out your lashes. It is around £6-7

SweetChickadee · 19/05/2016 19:03

OP you know what, I just bought a Lancome mascara for the first time in aaages - thought I'd treat myself...and it's no better than Maybelline.

I'm going back to the cheapo stuff next time

StrangeDream · 19/05/2016 19:05

That's interesting, sweet. I do find Lancôme mascaras dry out quickly.

Max factor masterpiece is better than any fancy brand I've tried

QueenMolotov · 19/05/2016 19:48

I use L'Oreal Double Extension (waterproof) and I think that's £11. I was a big fan of the false lash effect one by Clinique (can't remember the exact name) before converting to L'Oreal - Clinique is about £18.

hollieberrie · 19/05/2016 20:10

I really hate that Mabelline pink and green one. Everyone raved about it so I tried it, but it did nothing for my stubby little blonde lashes at all Confused

I switch between these 2:
L'Oreal Telescopic - my fave. Has a teeny brush so great for getting all those little lash hairs. Its around £10.
No 7 Lash Impact £13 (I originally got this as a freebie from Boots but i really love it too).

Whyhellodaffodil · 19/05/2016 20:13

Max factor false lash effect mascara is fab and about £10-12 I think

Mrs9C · 19/05/2016 20:14

I really like Benefit They're Real, I think it's £16. I've gone through 2 of them, tried other, although not the one everyone here is raving about, maybe I'd give that one a go first.

twilightcafe · 19/05/2016 20:17

Aldi 3d mascara is fabulous. Makes your lashes look long and lush without going clumpy.

CreviceImp · 19/05/2016 20:19

Worth looking on EBay for Lancôme gift sets.

StrangeDream · 19/05/2016 21:00

Bloody hell! Too many choices here. You know you were supposed to unanimously come up with the worlds most amazing, best value mascara?!

Grin maybe start at the cheapest (Aldi?) and work your way up?!

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 19/05/2016 21:26

I am a Lancome mascara snob and over the years I've dabbled with others - both expensive and cheap. I still keep going back to Lancome. That being said I think Max Factor mascaras are pretty good.

GetAHaircutCarl · 19/05/2016 21:28

I like a Lancôme mascara, but I also rate Maybeline.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 19/05/2016 21:31

Avon Supershock mascara usually about £8, but they sell off limited editions in the sale catalogue for as little as £4. It's my favourite mascara.

Diddlydokey · 19/05/2016 21:34

You sound like you have fairly good lashes. I think I do too but I can wear pretty much any. Max factor 2000 & maybelline great lash or the yellow tube are all good. Bourjois too and even natural collection if you're really broke!

PersonalSpace · 19/05/2016 21:38

Mac zoom lash is brilliant and about £14.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2016 21:49

I like loreal lash extension too. Max factor didn't do anything for me.

It's trial and error though, might be cheaper to stick with lancome in the long run.

Your not going to use up a shit mascara are you?.
