Come and chat about fashion, make up and anything glittery and frivolous. We'll take your bad hair day seriously and you never have to apologise for a new bag Grin

And if you happen to know where I can find comfortable but stylish trainers in kakhi or dark brown you are particularly welcome (Blatant abuse of thread setting up privileges) Wink

Meant to add Amber for my last birthday in Feb I had a makeup session before going to the Opera at the C.Tillbury store, I looked amazing and hardly recognizable at the end of it (but in a good way) so I got lots of lovely makeup there which will probably last me several lifetimes Blush

Longislandicetee · 04/04/2016 20:28

Lib how would you style that jacket?

Exhausting day today, achieving jack all!Sad I thought I would get our summer holiday booked but the quote i had for a 11 night stay at the resort dh wanted was half board £13,500. ShockShockShockShock I am waiting for dh to get back from work to find out how keen he is to stay at this palace place.

As an aside, I realise it's not good when the only stylish bit of my outfit today is my underwear. I must be in a slump of some sort!!

shopafrolic · 04/04/2016 20:32

My slump is worse than yours Blingy - nothing good going on here. The HL blazer arrived today. I think it's good but my brain is not fully functioning! Need to try again tomorrow. The Theory silk top would be awesome were it not for the wide arm openings. Back it goes. But if anyone sees a v neck silk tank in black anywhere then please shout.

shopafrolic · 04/04/2016 20:33

like this

SoyYo · 04/04/2016 20:36

Blimey Blingy must be a Palace for that £££ with DH we were looking at a 41 day all inclusive cruise to central America advertised in Sunday Times with ocean view superior suite for £8k in 2017 (he wants to retire then but as I'm younger i cannot take that long of work if he wants to live in the manner he's become accustomed to Wink)

FedupNagging · 04/04/2016 20:43

Crikey Blingy that's got to be a fantastic hotel - do you get your own butler Wink

FedupNagging · 04/04/2016 20:50

Oops, hit post too soon!

Shop I've definitely seen some silky vest tops recently but can't think where - will have a think - Mint Velvet maybe?

SoYo if you're after Toms, I noticed Costco had a load for sale last week - can't remember the price as they don't suit me so didn't look too hard. A trip to Central America sounds awesome; Brazil is on our wish list in the next few years.

FedupNagging · 04/04/2016 21:02

I was looking at this and this top earlier neither of which are black though.

But, how about this from Whistles Shop?

Longislandicetee · 04/04/2016 21:30

That's a lovely vest Shop.

FedUp no butler service though we did have that when stayed in the Oberoi in (I think Jaipur) in India. It was a bit weird. Blush We spend a ridiculous amount on hols each year but even I gulped when she gave me the quote. SoYo i want to do a cruise when I retire too!

shopafrolic · 04/04/2016 22:30

It's the perfect silk top for me except that there are wide arm openings with an elasticated jersey panel to hold it together (none of which is mentioned or shown in the pic or description) so you need to wear another black came underneath it or a contrasting colour top. Gutted as the shape and v neck etc are perfect on me.

SoyYo · 04/04/2016 22:31

shop lovely vest how about this not v neck but silk and black

Fedup thanks for Toms tip tbh not sure if I will like or fit the ones I ordered so will wait for them to arrive first and take it from there. I know they wash well having chucked DS in washing machine many times now

Blingy yes I have never been on a cruise and the one we spotted on ST travel section was a special offer for 2017...but 41 days!! I am a loong way off retirement age. DH however will turn 60 next year and has had enough of the rat race so still mulling over early retirement which I fully support. Maybe we should look at a shorter cruise next year...we travelled together in our 20's with backpacks for a whole year and had some amazing adventures, but a cruise would be a first for me! How times change...

libertydoddle · 04/04/2016 22:31

Blingy I would wear it with:

Leather skirt or Cord skirt or jeans with kakhi, beige or cream top

Jumpsuit and maybe shirtdress

Plenty to wear it with really, it's whether I would actually wear it or not, I love it but fear it's too 'statementy' for me.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 04/04/2016 22:32

I'm not describing it well. Basically the arm holes are cut to below the bra line. And they have added some jersey fabric just on/above the bra line to hold the front and back together. So when I wear it you see top, flesh, a bit of bra and then flesh under my arms. If I wear with a jacket all night it is perfectly cut for me. But too £££ for that.

SoyYo · 04/04/2016 22:39

I don't chuck DS in washing machine, just his Toms Grin

FedupNagging · 04/04/2016 22:50

Grin SoYo

maradesbois · 04/04/2016 23:00

Evening,

Hope all of you on hols are having a great time. I got home this weekend, travelled overland by train with the biggest suitcase in the world plus ds and his cath kidston trolley full of lego that he refused to pull after about 2 minutes. Not the most relaxing day of my life but we did have fun!

Stokey feel for you, am in same boat with DH away on long work trip in school hols. How was the ballet, did the dds enjoy?

Amber glad you're doing ok. Thought of you earlier as popped into tk maxx where they had lots of Herve Leger dresses but not as nice as yours and £300-£400 so not very bargainous either.

Lib not sure about the jacket, not very versatile, haven't you already got a soft biker jacket in a neutral colour? What would you wear this one with? For the colours I think the autumn ones get harder to do when the weather warms up. Khaki is good for summer though. Would you consider black again if it was away from your face?

Shop glad ds is ok, and that df is coming home. Hope you manage to have a lovely relaxing holiday after a very stressful few weeks.

Blingy Ouch at the quote but you've reminded me must plan summer too so we don't get stung on flights like last year by leaving too late. dh and I stayed in Jaipur too, rambagh palace, can't remember if oberoi or taj but absolutely beautiful and with a big Art Deco swimming pool that the maharajah built for his wife in the 1920s.

maradesbois · 04/04/2016 23:07

Cross post lib re what to wear with jacket, see you have lots of possibilities. It is a statement piece but don't think that means a no for you, more just that is it really one of the ten (if you are still doing the ten, can't remember).

Shop see what you mean about the top, it will annoy you, send back. Am well impressed with Outnet returns btw, I used to live close to DHL depot so never had to arrange pickup but called today and the driver was at the door 10 minutes later.

Drywhitethanks · 04/04/2016 23:11

SoyYo love the Uniqlo blazer.

Shop keeping everything crossed for the HL blazer. Smile

Right.....I'm feeling an obsessive blazer search coming on, reminiscent of the great caged sandal, leather skirt, camel coat, perfect black suede court shoe searches of recent years. Prepare yourselves.

Banana Republic blazer...great fine wool with a bit of elastane so very comfy, great quality but a bit boxy for me. £140.....needs to be perfect.
Next....perfect fit but worried about quality. For £40 may keep and see how it works for me.

Going to city shopping this week soz will have a look around.

My criteria if you're interested just so you know Smile

Black
Preferably wool
One button fastening
Very fitted at the waist
£200ish Max do you like the "ish" max? Grin

libertydoddle · 05/04/2016 12:02

I am interested dry Smile

Mara I think I need to revise the 10 to a more realistic 15 or 16 like Lara.

I'll keep the labels on the jacket for a few more days. DH likes it which is unusual for him to like something so patterned.

I couldn't find my sunnies this morning and my eyes are streaming. Lovely to have the sun but my current smudged make up look is not good.

OOTD is Elia B leopard print loafers, Uniqlo navy ankle length trousers, dark teal LKB v neck sleeveless top, navy Uniqlo merino v neck cardi, Hobbs oversize teal coat, V&A linen and cotton scarf in floral green/blue/mustard. Black Modalu tote bag.

Thanks SoyYo I'll have a look..

Larastheme · 05/04/2016 14:06

dry both jcrews ludlow and the regent blazers tick all your criteria,I've seen them in real life and they look very well made,I think they are a more affordable alternative to the Stella McCartney iris blazers,
I've seen a very nice one in marant but its a bit more relaxed and boxy
,think liberty might be interested?

After spending the last week in the cold icy wilderness ,I'm happy to be back to a more forgiving climate, and as its 16c, I'm wearing my stella McCartney python print sweater , R&b skinnies, and marant Bart trainers, good choice for lots of walking as its what I've been doing since 10am!

shop hope all is good with DF?

blingy I thought that 13k for 10 days is quite reasonable if its in a 5* hotel with good facilities ,usually the beachfront hotels around the amalfi coast and French Riviera charge way more than that with not that great facilities, the really ,really nice ones are charging around 1k a night for a seafront room, crazy prices,

LinusLovesBretons · 05/04/2016 15:50

blingy you have reminded me I need to remind DH again to book our summer holiday.

I do all the research and them send him links to the places I like and then he chooses which one he likes and books it. He's told me many times which one he likes but hasn't booked it yet. Hmm

dry I agree with lara J Crew blazers are well made and fit nicely.

I am wearing one of my trusty Rails shirts again with my trusty Jimmies and I was sooo tempted to buy another one on holiday as DH loved it as well but I think three are enough.

I have ordered some trainers after mara recommended them and I hope that they are The One as you've heard me moan enough on here about not finding a pair that I like.

They are the IM Bryce trainer in white (will try and find a link later) and they look perfect for me.

LinusLovesBretons · 05/04/2016 15:51

bryce

shopafrolic · 05/04/2016 16:59

Fashion fate Amber they are even named after you!

MN Vogue Vol. 69
shopafrolic · 05/04/2016 17:41

Love the Bryce for you Linus keeping my fingers crossed
Dry I'm interested - will look when I have more time not sure when that will be
Lara preparations are being made for DF to come home :) Big adjustments to be made but at least he'll be home.
Mara I keep swaying on the top as I thought the bits under the arms were cool at first - but just not wearable at all. Annoyed as the Outnet pics didn't really show it properly. Back it goes.
And I was cheered up by some beautiful flowers today from the gorgeous Dry Thanks
